View Full Version : Worst Queue Line Experience?

Having just come back from a day at Cedar Point, I started thinking, what is everyone's worst queue line experience?

We waited in line for an hour for M.Force in front of this guy who was incredibly obnoxious and rude and it made our hour wait seem like an eternity.

I'm sure there's better stories out there than mine!!

Please share them!

I was behind that same guy at PKI in line for Son of Beast (SOB, that still cracks me up :haha: ). It was June of 2000, SoB had just opened to the public, but only running one train. I waited in line for 3.5 hours with this jerk-off in front of me making the rudest and dumbest comments I had heard up to that point. No need to repeat them hear. What made it worse was I was next in line to get on the coaster and they shut it down for some mechanical problem. Waited another 45 minutes while we stood there watching the same train run the course empty. Finally, after over 4 hours of waiting, we got to board. Left the station and climbed half way up the hill and it stopped. Sat on that lift hill for another 10-15 minutes before it moved again. But damn, what an awesome ride.

I'd have to say BGT, in line for the Rhino Rally. We were in line for a couple of hours, because the ride broke down, then, right as it was fixed, a Florida afternoon thunderstorm raged for about another hour... since it was my first time in the park, we decided to wait for another hour... then, we finally got in... i realized that there were a few different paths that could have been taken, but somehow, being dry and hot after a couple hours of waiting, we got onto the track that was the least wet... but it was cool, because we did all the coasters that day, and even got onto the front seat of Montu when the park opened!

Three hours waiting for Rhino Rally !!!...that was a great waste of time. Rhino Rally has two tracks that it takes and you will always know before you get on (if you have been on it before) there is the normal route with the bridge that falls down and the truck goes into the water...but if the bridge has broken its mechanics,,,which it does time after time...then you just go and see the animals in the jeep...B O R I N G !!!

ok, well, that was my only time to BGT, and I saw I think 2 underwater tracks, 1 right under all the waterfall thingies, and the other that just had a drizzle at the end. Do you know how many tracks were made originally before the test crash that killed those 2 people? Anyways, my memory isn't that great unless I ride it on all tracks more than once. Maybe it was just an optical illusion. I dunno. It seems like I'm the only one that goes to BGW alot, all the rest goto the other hot parks like CP, or BGT.

queueing for big thunder mountain at Disneyland paris. Joined the 1.5 hour queue because it was the shortest queue there at the time. Then it rained and the ride broke. we ended up queueing for nearly 2.5 hours!

I actually rather enjoyed Rhino Rally, although I was talking to someone at Busch who indicated it may not last long, due to being an absolute maintenance nightmare. The person told me they really are having trouble justifying the cost of the maintenance, as it doesn't seem to be paying for itself in added visitors, so, unless they can find a way to reduce the maintenance expense, it could be removed soon.

I remember queuing for the Log Flume at Alton Towers...... it was the hottest and busiest day of the year, my Dad was shouting and complaining at everyone, and as we got about 3/4 of the way through the queue (and this took maybe an hour and a half), the ride stopped working. Up to about 15 people in front of us got tickets that said they could ride without queuing later in the day - but not us.

leonardofury

Odd I found that even with a full queue line the Alton Tower's log flume was no more than an half hours queue due to the constant turn around. The ride must have kept breaking down <shrug>. Well you can get a FastTrack ticket for the ride now so no more queuing worrys:D .

My worst experience was at Six Flags / Georgia. While waiting in the one hour plus line for Acrophobia, two teenagers in front of us allowed eight of their friends to jump in line. They were extremely obnoxious, and one of them even threatened a woman who asked them to quit swearing so loudly in front of her young daughter. The line jumping was not limited to that one ride, though. In fact, we saw people cutting in line on no fewer than eleven rides.

SF has been a problem for almost anything (no offense to those who r connected to SF) On top of that accident at that park, I've been told queue lines in those parks were atrociuos and so were the state of the park's cleanliness and, the topper of all of it, there's only 1 SF to bother to go to, because the others have crappy rides, and that 1's SFMM, because that's where i'm told all there new and cool rides are into'd. but, this is only what i'm told, and none of it's personal experience

hmmm...my worst queue experience??? none of mine have been terrible horrible....yes we have all seen line jumpers here and there, however working at six flags if anyone ever reported a line jumper we dealt with it. thats part of the problem employees cannot see line jumpers so we'd rely on the guests to report anything.

but probably my worst line experience was when batman the ride at six flags over georgia first opened. i had absolutely no idea the line was that loooooooooooong. literally it takes like 10 min to walk through it when it's empty! in fact i dont think ive been in too many lines as long as it. well, the line was backed out of gotham park and we got in line and there we stood for the next 3 and a half hours for a 30 second ride. to top it off the air condition i gess wasnt installed yet and once we got into the factory (which is endless zig-zags completely full) we thot we would die of heat stroke. miserable. wort the wait? um no.

Last summer, Mr. Paste and I were in like for Millennium Force at CP. Some obnoxious teenagers in front of us got a call on one of their cell phones from some of their friends who were also at the park. The friends not in line wanted to ride MF so the kids in line told them to sneak in and cut across the queues and meet up. We had been in line almost an hour at that point, so when the kids cut in, you can imagine how many people they cut in front of. So I went back to the beginning of the line and reported it to the worker there who called the police. I had to take the officer back to where the kids were. The problem is, I am so short that I couldn't see where we had been in line! That and the line kept moving so everytime I found the place, it moved while I was trying to get there. So eventually we go there and the officer escorted 2 of the line jumpers out of the line (I don't think he understood that 4 of the 8 people had jumped). But it worked out okay because the other 6 kids were all so curious about why their friends got taken out of line by a cop that they left the line too.

This was back when the Texas Rangers were at the old Arlington Stadium. I was down (from Minnesota) visiting a friend in Dallas to see the Twins play there. So we got up early and went to Six Flags before the ball game. By mid-afternoon it was over 100 degrees. Waiting in ANY queue line was horrible but the 2 hour wait for the Texas Giant was the worst (it was a new ride back then). Despite that it was definitely worth the wait.

(It was so hot that day that at the end of the Rangers/Twins game the scoreboard still read 102 degrees! Ugh!)

Sounds like Batman the Ride at SFMM to me, that's about the same experiance I had with that ride many years after it was out. I will only go on that ride now if the line starts just before entering the indoor structure, anything longer than that is not worth the ride- more so at night where the ride feels all of 10 seconds long.

That's probably my worst line experience- 4+ hours of waiting for that damn ride. Though Ninja at SFMM holds up since that ride breaks down at least three times before you get on the ride if you are officially in a line before entering the sub-level area of the line.

Hmmm, I haven't had any really bad experiences like some of y'all but I guess I've had a few minor ones. One thing I did hate waiting for was Test Track at EPCOT. The soundtrack they had playing was SO ANNOYING. To make matters worse we waited about an hour with that soundtrack playing. Also another bad experience I had waiting was for It's Tough to be A Bug at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The wait was only about a half hour to forty minutes but it was in the what seemed like the hottest weather ever. After we rode that we rode Kali River Rapids and left the park, riding only those two rides, it was SOOO HOT.

Two words: FAST PASS

erhswimming
06-18-2004, 04:07 PM
Yea, FastPass has been a savior to our family. We barely ever wait for anything over 30 minutes anymore. The only reason we didn't use fastpasses in my mentions above is because when we were at Animal Kingdom we already had a FastPass for Kali River Rapids when we were waiting for It's Tough to be a Bug and plus the line said 10 minutes (even though it took 30) and Kali River Rapids was an hour long line. When we were at EPCOT, it was a weekday night around 7 so all the FastPasses were already distributed so we decided to wait through the 70 minute line for Test Track (which we all wanted to ride really bad). Also it was miserable when we waited 2 hours for Test Track (during Christmas Break when we already had Mission Space Fastpasses and were running out of time to ride Test Track). Yes the Fastpasses are great but sometimes you still gotta wait...

cedar point. millenium force. 4 hours. the line actually reached about 2 football fields longer out of the official queue line...great ride though, i dont see how it could take so long with that speed lift

and at disney world for rockin roller coaster, this fat goth greenhaired teenager punk kept swearing and saying to his little buddies "i bet this ride effin sucks too" i wanted to knock him out.

oh and fast passes rule! but i feel bad for the waiting people. passing them with the sad look on their face staring at you and theyre so hot and sweaty.

In cases where the fast passes (or similar systems) are free and available to everyone, I don't feel bad for those waiting in line. Everyone has an equal chance to use them -- it's their own fault if they didn't.

On the other hand, I hate the systems that require an extra charge, as that's not available to everyone. I've known families to go to the parks as their special treat for the year, but they had to scrape together the funds, so the extra cost for skipping the queue would simply have been out of their financial reach. In my mind, that's just not fair.

I have been though A lot of lines. So, I have several memories of them, both good and bad. Let's start with Dragster at Cedar Point. We waited in line for about an hour and A half when Dragster had A rollback. It was only down for about 15 minutes. It took us about 20 more minutes to get to the train station. We were next in line for the back car in the first station. This was to be my first trip in daylight. That's when the power went out all over the northeastern part of the country. We didn't find out that the whole day was ruined until another hour of waiting. We spent almost 3 hours in that line, and then went home. That was the worst. I went back later last year to make up for the problem.
A couple of years ago, I was at King's Island in the line for Face-Off. As all of us know, the Vekoma Boomerang Coasters have A very bad hourly capacity. To add to this problem the Ride attendants were slow as usual. Once again we were next in line when the ride broke down. We waited for an engineer to give us A idea of the down time we were looking at. He told us it would be at least 3 hours. We had already waited for nearly 2 hours.
After we exited the line and took A trip on Top Gun, Face-Off was open again. I was upset, considering we were on and off Top Gun in less than 25 minutes. I didn't ride Face Off that day.

I Was at six flags magic mountain, and we just got there. I always ride the revolution first, it's a great classic. I waited for 2 hours (it was a Saturday) With this women who wouldnt quit whining about the wait, she started yelling at the employees and crap. So eventually I asked her to stop, she stared at me with an evil look:sour: freaked me out. When we finnaly got near the station, it brakes down.:( We wait for another half hour in back of this ******. Eventually, we rode, in the back seat:D . After over 50 rides on Revolution, It never fails to amuse me. It's a classic.

The first year Raptor opened at Cedar point...it was night time, before closing, and we were already in line for an hour, when everyone started taking quarters and banging them on the metal guard rails and all chanting a bird call....like *caw caw* they did this repeatedly for like an hour!! My head was pounding by the time I got on it.

Here is a sort of funny story....We were at Six flags in Maryland a few years back in line for Roar...this forgien guy was trying to put his 2 year old baby on this ride, and when the ride ops told him the baby couldn't ride, he was getting mad and kept yelling at the ride up.."what baby no ride"...he kept this up for so long and we were so upset he would try to put a baby on a coaster, they we end up yelling back to him.."no baby no ride, dog no ride, cat no ride..." They finally got him removed from the line.

Wow some of you people ended up being behind some very rude people. I've never had a problem with Disneyland and California Adventure. The trick is to go NOT during a holiday because everyone is there on holidays, go on a day when it drizzles, the place was absolutely deserted and I went on Splash Mountain 5x back to back with no line what so ever.

My worst experience was at the MindBender at none other than West Ed Mall. They close the ride every couple hours, so I'm standing in line, then they decide to close it, so I'm waiting there but then I just decided this is stupid so then I'd come back later. I came back later and the line looked short enough but for some reason it didn't feel like it was moving at all. I also believe people cut the line. Then finally at the end I was with my cousin, now we find out that after waiting so long that he's not tall enough to go on the ride. It was awful.

BorisTheFish

any queue at WDW, magic kingdom. I have to say that their fast pass system sucks.

Reason: At the Universal Orlando parks, they have one line and Nearly always one station for the regular queue and one for the fast pass, Magic kingdom has one line for both ticket holders, meaning everythings a lot slower as the fast pass people get to jump into the queue making everyone else wait longer.

This probably doesn't qualify but I thought I'd share the experience nonetheless. My wife and I just went on the rotating swings ride (it is a tradition for her so who am I to argue) and the ride was filled with pre-teen kids. Right behind us were two teens with more makeup on than clothing and they were just cursing left, right and centre, making insulting and grotesque remarks that kids should not be hearing. My wife turned around and yelled at them to shutup because of all the kids around. It worked.

queues in general are worse in england, than america.

Example, last time i went to alton towers, during school (with the school i might add) and during the early season. there was one hour queues for Hex 2hr for Oblivion and 1 1/2hr for Nemesis.

Last month in florida, we where threatened with a longest queue of 3 1/2 hrs for spiderman. The actual queue times throughout the whole day in universal IoA. And these were during peak season

Dueling Dragons - 10 mins max
Hulk - 20mins max
Spiderman - 40mins max
Dudley Do-Rights - 45mins max

09-23-2004, 05:47 PM
More than horrible, i remeber of a series of queues (and all in the same park the same day) that I did that were very funny.
It happened at Terra Mitica in Spain, it all started with our third ride of the day, The Laberynth of the Minotaur a dark ride with one of the most larger queues I have ever seen in a ride, well, my friend and me, 16 at that time, made friends with a boy and a girl of 25 years old. The boy was very funny and although we were there for two hours he made the wait entertaining. We wnet through the park with them until afternoon, were we split to go to different rides. And here goes the best part. When we went to the queue of the woodden coaster Magnus Colossus we saw a famous tv girl, here from Spain, (well, she was now not very famous because she was kicked out and his program for chidren was not very good), she was surrounded with some other girls, probably her friends, this girls and the famous girl were very rude to the people of the queue and the park staff (I have never seen such a good staf in a park than in Terra Mitica, they are fabolous people that treat you very good), they were in front of us and how they smelled and were shouting they were probably been drunk. So we shouted at them to leve the people alone and helped the coaster staff, that were very grateful to us, when we did this they all shut up however they looked at us with a very evil face. :sour:
So the ride started and when we were going to the lift we started to make up songs of how horrible was the girl's program, and we chanted them, and for our surprise all the people that were insulted by the girls at the queue also started to chant with us. It was amazing.:D
So we went out the coaster and went in other various rides chanting while they were running. and all the people also chant with us.(but now they were not songs about the girls but popular spanish songs).
We were very hot so we decided to go to the Riverfalls of the Nile (a log flume ride) and we found in front of us again the stupid famous girl with her friends and now with some boys. The girls pointed at us and said that we had insult them so the boys wanted to hit us. There were not a staff rides near because we were in the middle of the queue, and now we were scared, but it happen a miracle:D , the boy and the girl that we found at the Laberynth of the Minotaur had come behind us just now, took the hand off of one the boys that was holding my friend (nothing to say that the boys that wanted to hit us were 17, 18 years old and that our new friend had 25 and had some very good muscles :D ) But he didnt hit the boys, what he did was get the whole group of boys and girls and report them to the staff of the ride. One funny thing was that whle this was occurring the famous girl said to the boy: "You dont who I am!" and the boy responded "Yes, you are a little, drunk, stupid brat that is going to go immediately out of the park". Hahaha that was so funny I will never forget that. :D
So also we were scared finally all turned out good and was very funny.

When AIR at Alton Towers was built when we tried to get on it we had to wait nearly 5 hours just to ride it because it broke down every 1hr for about 15 minutes. and theres nothing else to look at while waiting for it. By far my worst queueing time. Closest to it is Ghostrider for 2 hours.

IMO Obilvion is very overated. You queue for nearly an hour and a half at times for a ride that lasts about 30 secs. Once you've ridden it once its nothing special. I would rate Nemesis, Air, Corkscrew, Black Hole and Spinball Whizzer above Oblivion

I know, looking at the queue in the photo makes me think is it worth it?

really? Even Corkscrew?

Thorpe, have you noticed that today we have been bickering in almost every thread? Anyway, I was replying to Leonardofury, he said that he'd rate Corkscrew better than Oblivion, I just don't see Corkcrew as very cool looking.

It is an old 1980 coaster.

Yeah, its a standard Vekoma Corkscrew, first inverting coaster in Britian and Alton tower's first rollercoaster. And yep I would rate it above Oblivion, the Corkscrew is more than a gust of air and a slight wrench in your stomach. TBH it wouldn't even make my top ten coasters and possibly not even the top twenty (and I've only ever ridden 31 coasters). I don't rate it that high at all.

I like that racing coaster. I went on another racing coaster (wooden) in Busch Gardens, Tampa.

The WORST experience was waiting 2 hours for the Raven. There is no shade and you are crammed in there next to a lot of people (mostly dub t) and the all have terrible B.O.. A 2 hour wait for a 60 sec. ride is just retarded.

that q in that pic is not for Oblivion, but for the flat ride infront of the banked turn
On oblivion, ive only been on it once, and it was a great experience, even if the q was very long, althopugh i wouldnt really q an hour and a half again unless i promised myself to open my eyes!!:D

Closing your eyes on a roller coaster makes you feel a lot dizzier than with your eyes open.

Yeah, if you're scared out of your pants, and the ride is really smooth, it helps you forget that you're upside down 200 feet above cold, hard concrete....:noob:

Your english is fine. You'd be surprised to know how many people can't even speak or spell proper english in the USA and Canada. LoL

Hmm... worst queue experience? Any queue when the weather is HOT and the peeps around you stink of B.O.!! There's no way to get away from the smell and a can of deodurant aint expensive!!

The 'winding' queues are the worst such as those for Nemesis at Alton Towers. Before they had the boards saying how long the queue is, you could join the back thinking it isn't that long, but as you gradually move forwards, you find out it winds all around, up and down hills etc. they just don't seem to end!

Yeah, I get that all the time. I think the ride is just round the corner but no - more queues for a mile!

One of the worst times in line was when PotC in CA had a malfunction so a large (I'd say 15 or so) group of college age people started to sing "Yo Ho".

The only problem is that they just sang "Yo Ho Yo Ho a pirates life for me" a bjillion times because they didn't know the song. So there I was leaning on the railing pulling my hair out for atleast 30 minutes.

Then in the line Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at IOA, these two people in front were swearing alot and then glancing at me weirdly. They creeped be out of my eyeballs, and on top of that were being rude by obviously swearing to annoy people. Atleast we were getting ready to ride one of the my all time fav rides.

In line for the Joker's Wildcard at SFNE. We waited about an hour just to get on it... and the ride sucks. Not to mention the people in the line and on the ride. On girl asked her mother if she could go on Superman, and when the mother said no, she asked if it was because someone had died. When we were on the ride, theres that one annoying, screaming person (The ride is not even scary, just a headache). On top of it all... the ride runs slow yet makes you dizzy, it is in a dark building with strobe lights, and it was about 95 degrees in the building.

The moral of the story: If your going to SFNE, dont go on The Jokers Wildcard (or any other twist ride thats indoors).

The dang 3d theater ride at six flags great adventure was my worst line ever. The line was full and than some outside the hanger thing that the line goes back and forth for what seems like forever. Well to make a long story short, it was about 99 degrees out and very humid. Small hanger+no fans+no a/c+hundreds of people= terrible worst line experience. 2 hours to be exact.

My worst experience was at Six Flags / Georgia. Similar to beck 2003
the reason why is because it was my first time in SFOG and I wanted to ride everything because i live 3 hrs. away so i don't get to go often i go Carowinds about 2 times a month but anyways my worst ride experience with SFOG Batman The Ride when i got into the line it was packed all the way from the fountain and because i never been there before i wasn't sure how long the line was so my dad likes Inverted coasters so i wanted to go on so much so after 45 mins we got to the little tunnel or suage pipe from the fountain so 25 mins after were outside the little building unfortultly it was middle of the season in the summer so it was completly packed "o-well" it will go fast i thought but unfortlely there was only 1 train running so after waiting 3 hrs. and 05 mins. were outside by the parking lot is next 25 mins next 20 mins. up the steps and waiting 5 mins for the middle of the train so after waiting 5 hrs we exited the ride and it was 6:55 when we got off and the park closed at 8 so we rode like 8 rides that entire day so if u ride Batman The Ride make sure you see 2 trains running !!!!

It was at Disneyland and the ride was Indiana Jones, about 9 nine people cut in front of us and my uncle was like WTF. He started saying alot of bad things and making a big deal about it and it was funny but I had a plan, when we got 3/4 in the temple, I ask one of the staff members that 9 people cut in front of us and well they took them out and I laugh and same with my uncle and others behind us.

Just to show you, Disneyland is the Happiest place on Earth!

I have the worst...ever. Imagine...in the Batman queue line in Dallas in the middle of summer...in the tin tube queue line with no fans working...the ride breaks down...and it's so jammed, your not going back. Yeah...the person in front of me passed out.

Damn Six Flags

Yeah, its a standard Vekoma Corkscrew, first inverting coaster in Britian and Alton tower's first rollercoaster.

Not quite...the Revolution at Blackpool Pleasure Beach opened in 1979, one year before Corky.

My worst queueline experience was last year at Drayton Manor Park...I was queueing up for the frisbee ride, cannot recall it's name, and there was a group of youths / teens...one girl was having a row with a friend / boyfriend on her mobile phone...I have never heard such foul language before. Every other word was c*nt...and this was shouted at full volume over and over in a crowded queueline. Simply unbelievable.

David.

I remeber Top Gun at PKI. It was an hour wait, and I was sick of waits, cause i spent from 10:15- 11:45 waitng for Son of Beast, and walked off with a headache, great ride though. There were no fans, no shading, 95 Degrees, and the ride was awful!

Top Gun was WAYY to short of a ride to even be the 20 minute wait I had this past summer.
