I would vote off six flags darien lake. It only has one five star coaster (superman-ROS). SFMW has two in Roar and Medusa. Marine World will get voted off soon enough I say SFDL.

How can we have a six flags survivir when nobody survives going to six flags?

Well i'm from Houston, Texas and since the only Amuesment Park I have ever gone to was Six Flags Astroworld i vote for it. It is kind of stupid there :( I love Serial Thriller!!!

I'll just go with the flow until the big four. I vote out Kentucky Kingdom.

I have to agree. Kentucky Kingdom has A space issue, and has A poor selection of rides. It is A sad, sad park. Leave it to Premier Parks to soil the great Six Flags name.

ASTROWORLD MUST GO. just went there again yesterday, and its still as dirty and pathetic as ever. And if that wasn't bad enough, TWICE I got to the front of the line only to have the ride shut down right before my turn!(once on Serial Thriller for "wind warning" or something, and once on Batman: Escape for no apparent reason)

Harpo's least favorite park, Kraptacular Kingdom is out!
Here are the remaining:

Magic Mountain
Elitch Gardens
New Orleans
St. Louis
Great America
Over Georgia
Kentucky Kingdom
New England
Great Adventure
Darien Lake
SF America
Astroworld

Astroworld should be out!

Hmmm, tough call, but I'm going to have to go with New England. After all, their accident-that-shouldn't-have-happened on Superman was the reason why Superman at Tragic Mountain and Xcelerator at Knott's were closed on my visit this summer! Plus, on my one visit to New England, besides having several rides closed, the park was exceptionally filthy, even for Six Flags, and the pizza was the pits. Of course, I may have just caught them on a bad day. I also felt the park layout could use some work -- at the end of the superhero area, I'd like to see stairs, or a ramp, or something that would act as an exit to the area above it, rather than just being a dead-end.

There is a tie between Astroworld and New England! Your only choices until the end of this round are Astroworld and New England.

Harpo
08-10-2004, 01:38 PM
Well, gee, if only the two of us are voting, we could always consider it to be 2 rounds, and hack both New England and Astroworld off the list!

(By the way, don't forget to pull KK out of the list... Incidentally, it's only my 2nd least favorite park. My least favorite is Williams Grove, but that's not owned by Six Flags. Hmmm, maybe Six Flags should acquire it -- they can't make it any worse! :D )

goliath
08-10-2004, 01:53 PM
OK Harpo, both of the parks are out! Sorry, Harpo, I forgot KK. I've never heard of Williams Grove. Whats so bad about it? Here is what remains.

Magic Mountain
Elitch Gardens
New Orleans
St. Louis
Great America
Over Georgia
Great Adventure
Darien Lake
SF America

I vote Great Adventure.

Harpo
08-10-2004, 02:11 PM
Again, it's tough. Great Expenditure, er, Adventure is a good choice. I could also make a great case for Six Flags Annoyance, er, America, or Georgia, or New Orleans. But, with my past two hideous experiences there, I'm going to go for Tragic Mountain.

When I went to Williams Grove (located in Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes away from Hersheypark), the place was an absolute disasterous mess. I was afraid to touch anything without getting updated tetanus and malaria shots. Plus, the staff seemed more than just rude -- they seemed angry with the world. Worst of all, their old wood coaster was in terrible condition. I'm used to hearing wood creak, but that wood was cracking! Also, despite a fairly good slope out of the station, the operator had to give the train quite a shove to get it going. Two things surprised me about that ride: 1) that it didn't stall during the ride due to too much friction, 2) that the ride didn't simply collapse.

I think it was last year when there was an accident on their Paratrooper ride. The owner, using all the tact I'd expect from that park, said to the press, "I wouldn't tell you my side of the story if you dropped dead!" Ah, the art of public relations. (Prior to seeing that quote, I kept quiet about my dislike of Williams Grove. I considered it a small struggling park that didn't need any negative views expressed about it. However, when the owner makes such a fool of himself following an accident where someone could have been killed, I think the park deserves any negative publicity it gets.)

Goliath2004,
I don't want to put down anyone's opinion, but how can you vote out Great Adventure this early?
I vote Darien Lake.

Harpo
08-10-2004, 03:42 PM
Well, speaking from my visit a couple of years ago, the ticket price was $54, the parking was $10, and 9 rides (including 3 coasters) were closed. In my view, that's sad. I currently expect to see closed rides when I go to a Six Flags park, but 9 is a bit excessive.

However, I'm still voting for Tragic Mountain.

Magic Mountain needs to go

alpengeist04
08-10-2004, 04:07 PM
Harpo, I can't disagree with you on that. A couple years ago SFGA was at a alltime low. They still have a ways to go, but they are getting better. From what I've heard they have had no more than 1 or 2 coasters down this year at a time. It's not great, but remember we are comparing Six Flag's parks.

goliath
08-10-2004, 07:14 PM
SFGA could be redeemed with the new rocket coaster. I would like another TTD that is better mantained, a few more hills, and a few inversions, like the world's biggest corkscrew, or the world's biggest loop. Also I want it to be faster and higher.

alpengeist04
08-10-2004, 08:10 PM
I agree Goliath2004.:D Something new and unique would be nice.

Somewhere along the way, Six Flags over Texas got dropped - but nobody voted for it! How can the first ever Six Flags park just simply be forgotten?

alpengeist04

I think it's just an oversite. I don't remember it being voted out.

Harpo
08-11-2004, 10:41 AM
I think I'll vote for the site where Mrs. Wiggins' grandson works, trimming and filing his fingernails when he's supposed to be running a coaster: SF America.

goliath
08-11-2004, 01:14 PM
OK I want to get this done quickly. SFGA, SFDL, and SFA are all out.

Elitch Gardens
New Orleans
St. Louis
Great America
Over Georgia

I vote SFOG.

Harpo
08-11-2004, 01:42 PM
I'll second that, and say see y'all later to Georgia.

alpengeist04
08-11-2004, 01:43 PM
I vote SF Elitch Gardens. I know its a nice park, but none of the coasters really excite me.

goliath
08-11-2004, 07:26 PM
SFOG is out! WE HAVE REACHED THE FINAL FOUR!!!!!!!! HERE ARE THE LUCKY FINALISTS:

Elitch Gardens
New Orleans
St. Louis
Great America

How did Elitch Gardens get in there? My vote goes to Elitch Gardens.

Hello, Elitch Gardens! All of the coasters there stink! Same with New Orleans!

goliath
08-11-2004, 10:05 PM
Elitch Gardens is out. We have reached the last three. Here are the finalists:
New Orleans
St. Louis
Great America

I vote New Orleans.

Harpo
08-12-2004, 10:59 AM
Gee, that's funny -- Elitch Gardens was the best experience I've had at a Six Flags park EVER. If all the Six Flags parks were run like that one, I wouldn't have any significant complaints, only minor issues. Oh well.

Guess I'll have to pull out the creole and go with N'olans. No Mardi Gras time here. (Besides, they can't even get the right picture of Joker's Jinx on the tshirts -- they pictured the wrong coaster!)

goliath
08-12-2004, 01:11 PM
WE are down to the last two! Who would have thought it would be Great America vs. St. Louis in the finals? Here is the match you've all been waiting for: Great America vs.
St. Louis .

I vote St. Louis.

ColonelSandurz
08-12-2004, 06:13 PM
Add Over Texas in to that battle. It was never voted out. Someone just forgot that it was there and left it out!

goliath
08-12-2004, 07:52 PM
St. Louis is out and there will be one more park added and that park is SFoT! I vote Great America out.

Oh well. My vote here goes to eliminate the 2nd least efficient park I've ever visited: SF Over Texas.

i vote out Great America--not so "great"

I haven't posted anything yet because I just found this forum now but if you want a newcomer's opinion, I'd say throw out Darien Lake... there are very few roller coasters there... even fewer good ones, and there hasn't been a major upgrade at that park for as long as I can remember. Six Flags has really ignored this park with potential.

ive been too sixflags darien lake countlass times and its really mild and a drop in the bucket compared to Cedar Point
