View Full Version : Who has already traded in or returned their copy of DRIV3R ????

Personally I thought DRIV3R was ultimately frustrating, boring and not all that new. The slow down is unacceptable, the missions were too hard, their is not enough traffic or police. It's not as exciting as it used to be. The missions are recycled. Yes the cities are beautiful but that's about it.
I really tried to like it but this series hasn't gone anywhere in the past few years. Honestly what is new in this game ??? And I know people say that GTA is different than DRIVER and they are right...it is. DRIV3R is frustrating and boring and GTA is fun and filled with endless possibilities.
I was let down by DRIVER 2 way back when because it wasn't as good as the original. But I thought I'd give DRIV3R a chance. I did and I left with dissapointment. They had plenty of time to make a very good game but blew it......again.
So, I traded the game in today at FYE. I figure I'll spend my credit on something that's enjoyable. Probably the new Van Halen CD that comes out this July. I'm sure Sammy won't dissapoint like Tanner did (again).

No I won't. I still have the first two. If I get an urge to play the ONLY good DRIVER game. I'll play the original.

Well Mike, its very hard not to flame you. So im going to be nice and not. :D
Ok screw it. What do you mean the missions are hard? Are you that bad? Do you really suck that much? "OHHH THE MISSIONS ARE TOO HARDD, I CANT PLAYYY BECAUSE I SUCKK." And are you that broke that you have to trade it in. "OHHH I WANT VAN HALEN CD." Nobody gives a crap that you like it or not. And you dident have to start a new thread. So go buy your Van Halen CD and have fun with that and just leave these forums since theres nothing that you like here anymore.

well, i think if you like the Driver series like I do, even if you don't like the Driv3r, it still should be in your collection. ( my opinion )

I understand where your coming from. I used to be an avid fan of Resident Evil and have every game. Then I realized it was just plane stupid to keep a game so it can collect dust. Why get a nickel for it years from now when I can get more money now. It's only logical. Especially if there is nothing left to do in the game and it's boring.

Well your right about that, I love the driv3r game and i didn't mind how much it costs, although i'm poor.
Did you get all your money back? If you did, you can always buy Driv3r later when it gets cheap.

No I didn't get all my money back. But now I know that when DRIVER 4 comes out that I'll go to Blockbuster instead of Gamestop.
I mean did anyone notice that in DRIVER 2 the slowdown was hideous also. I mean on a new system after 3 YEARS of developement they couldn't fix one friggin' problem. That's crazy.

And out of 12 reviews on GameRankings.com ONLY 3 are above the 7.5 score. The average rating is 67%.....that's sad. It's not just me. Everyone is realizing that a big budget dosn't mean a good game.

I agree that in 3 YEARS they could of done a better job. I mean I could probebly do it my self in 3 YEARS. But what can we do? I guess nothing.
YOU SURE THAT Driver 4 will come out?
Sperry2885
06-28-2004, 11:05 PM
To be honest with you. DRIVER 4 probably won't come out. Not because Tanner is dead but because this series is dead. To critical failures in a row dosn't equal a sequal to me.

1. Check the posts and watch the end FMV closer. Tanner aint dead.
2. Atari released DRIV3R before completion. Driver 4 will happen, and when it does, Atari better have there act together, or they'll here it from me.

Well how do we know whether or not he's dead and who honestly cares. The story never really mattered. And after two failures I don't have much hope for the next one.
I'm waiting to see what Game Informer says about the game. They gave Driver 2 a good review (shockingly) but I think they might tear this one apart. We'll have to wait and see.

Tanner doesn't die, browse around the forums, we've talked about it and you'll find your answers.

the other guy that was with Tanner in the emergacy room dies(flat lines). Tanner was Shot in the back by Jerico, But Tanner was lying on his back, LOL, so i guess the shot wasn't that bad, or Tanner got lucky and got Jerico before he could shoot him.
You should know, like in all those Hollywood movies.

Tanner isn't dead. Since you didn't watch the ending, you weren't aware of that. That topic has been dissected in detail on another thread. As for DRIV3R being a boring, sucky game; it is not and never will be. Sure, there are slowdowns occasionally, but nothing as bad as in the last two titles. These drops in framerate are minimal and acceptable, though yes, they should have been fixed nonetheless. The game does have the "feeling" of being a bigger, prettier version of DRIVER 2; but it is definitely not.
True, I would rather trade in a game I'm not going to play again in the near future and get another newer used title, but DRIV3R is definitely a keeper. Same for GTA: VC. I'm getting more and more fed up with how San Andreas is turning out, especially after reading the latest article in OPM called "Thug Life: Videogame Publishers Think You're Street -- And They Want You To Think They Are Too." I have absolutely no desire to play an early 1990s area Los Angeles Black American gangsta who's only motives in life is to become a gang member, cause crime, eat and get fat (or not), and go on drive-bys. Oooo, big fun. I'm not against the black character, only the story and the motives. Why Rockstar just bring Tommy to L.A.?
Anyway, that's why I like DRIV3R better. You don't have to play into this damn hip-hop crap and rap craze that game makers think everyone enjoys and would make great premises for games while playing this title. All these stupid ideas for games that are coming out based on "thug life" situations blows my mind. It's immoral and not a good thing for kids to play, especially young black boys when it comes to "San Andreas". What are they going to learn: how to rob houses? Oh great, more stereotypes. How to join gangs and shoot at people. Even more stereotypes. Jeez man, can't Rockstar come up with a better, more positive, idea for a title? "Manhunt" was bad enough, now this? Stick with DRIV3R and you're a happy camper. Or go play the awesome "Champions of Norath" or the hilarious and very fun "Ratchet & Clank" series. Even the upcoming Resident Evil-GTA mix title "Dead Rush". Anything but gangsta crap.
