Taking my kids, (girls 5 and 7) to cedar point. Most of posts on this site have been on adult things to do. Any suggestions or advice? Any one know what coasters or larger rides they can ride? Does anyone have any experience with the cedar point resorts or can recommend another hotel? How accurate is the ride restrictions on the website? The website says thunder canyon you must be 46 inches to ride. All of the other parks we have been to require 42 inches for that type of ride with parent. Are there any don't miss with kids type of events? Thanks for any input. By the way, my 7 year old is 48inches and my 5 year old is 44 inches tall.

There's quite a bit for the kids to do. You might want to check out my Cedar Point Virtual Tour for more info. (Click on WWW below my post, then click on "Harpo II" on my main page. That'll take you to the page where you can find my tour. Or, you can just go here: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jeffharp/PointEntry.htm Each page in the tour has a summary called "For The Kids.")
At 48 inches, your 7 year old will be able to do most of the stuff at Cedar Point, with a couple of exceptions. Power Tower, Mantis, and Raptor are definitely out. I believe she could do Witches Wheel with an adult. The 5 year old is going to be more restricted. The only coasters will be Woodstock's Express, and Jr. Gemini.
Many of the spinning rides allow smaller kids as long as they are with an adult. I know that my niece and nephew loved Monster and Himilaya when they were that age.
Watch out with the 5 year old and Wave Swinger. Wave Swinger requires being 46", yet it looks like it'd be fun for smaller kids. My niece had a fit when she was too short to ride it!
They might enjoy the Peanuts show at Camp Snoopy, as well as Snoopy Rocks On Ice at the Good Time Theater. There's also quite a bit for the kids over at Soak City (the water park).
You may want to consider going to the Park Operations office when you arrive to have the kids measured. They can do an official measurement and give the kids wristbands to show their height. An individual ride host may still override that decision if they feel the rider is too small, but it'll usually make it easier to get borderline heights onto the desired rides. (If your 7 year old is right at 48", it could make a big difference.) Naturally, make sure they stand up as straight and tall as possible when getting measured, whether at Park Operations or at any ride.
By the way, there are three kids areas in the park: Kiddy Kingdom, Peanuts Playground, and Camp Snoopy. (Actually, there's also a mini-kiddyland next to Camp Snoopy, where Jr. Gemini is located, plus a Frog Hopper, a kiddy bumper boats, and some other small rides.)
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask! I'm glad to help in any way I'm able!
Have a great time!

Well, if your kids arent into the whole tall roller coaster thing, I would suggest taking them on Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Disastor Transport, Iron Dragon, and maybe Wild Cat. This is if they are tall enough though, which I believe is 48 inches liek harpo said. The Camp Snoopy stuff is definately fun (I'm 15, and I still ride that stuff!). But if your kids are intot he whole tall thing have at it.
