The Supply Zone concept is a really good one, I think it increases the complexity of overtaking an opponent. To add to the complexity, I would like to introduce the following 'Control Zones'.

The Control Zones would allow the Engineers to create a special defensive supply unit (much like the way they create the bunkers, anit-aircraft, and cannons are created). The initial unit/buildingwould be very small, the same size as the other units an engineer builds, and would be upgradable from the initial red zone, to a yellow zone, and finally to a green zone. Each increasing color would increase the resupply rate, and the defensive rating of the units within the defensive zone. These wouldn't be huge boosts, but something along the line of 5% to 10% to 15%, or perhaps even 20%.

Not quite sure what to call these units/buildings, perhaps intelligence agency or Control Tower? They know how to defend against the enemy, while increasing supply line replenshments within a given radius.

In any event, I think this would help in thwarting early rushes during the game, and would make it more difficult to be overrun defenses later in the game.

Perhaps a unit that can not be built, but comes pre-built on some maps (selectable in multi-player). Make it upgradable at a cost and of course destroyable so it can be a heavy loss item. Might be a nice option for the expansion. :)

Yeah, the cities already act as a type of Control Zone, they give more defense to men I think, but not all units. (please correct me if this is wrong)

City terrain is supposed to give infantry an advantage. Perhaps a field general unit would be workable, and have his death reduce the fighting power of that side. It's not the first time a game would include such a unit, it was a big part of Total Annihilation. Making the general have an area of effect to improve troops fighting ability would be very cool though. As the general gains experience the zone should increase and the effects as well.

There is a lot of flexibility available for this kind of idea. :)
