i attacked one (count em one) entrenched, forested sas commando sniper regiment with a full division of upgraded regular american infantry (thats five regiments with improved machineguns) we both had aggressive stance.... they lose one little guy out of their regiment but kill one of my regiments and rout the rest!!!!! WTF?! thats so unrealistic it absurd. i never complained about russian snipers (at least u can kill them) or nimitz abomb, or anything... but this is just too rediculous. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!! in the immortal words of rick james "IT AIN'T RIGHT!"

They are currently working on the first patch for Axis and Allies and some of the changes will be to re-balance the units. Hopefully when that is done you will be able to retry that offensive with better success.

The combination of Entrenched and Forest defensive bonus give infantry a large amount of staying power, primarily against other infantry (works on all infantry, not just snipers).

If those SAS troopers were experienced, it is also quite possible that they could hold off substantially larger numbers of infantry. A regiment of Artillery Infantry could probably accomplish a similiar feat in that situation.

Flanking may help take out the snipers quickly, buth otherwise you would be adivsed to ferret them out with artillery.

u gotta be kiddin me... the sas had just spawned from the tent, that should not be possible. they shoulld get routed before the larger attack force... it was 5vs1 maybe in a 3vs5 situation i could see it
but not 5vs1 (did u read the post above?) its absurd and artillery inf cant do that THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED END OF STORY

Well, that's kind of the point of a sniper unit though, isn't it? There were a lot of conflicts where a handful of snipers with a good tactical position could hold off entire regiments. The Civil War had some great examples of 20 or 30 men holding off 3000 or 4000 for fear of getting shot by an un-seen asailant.

Now, I will admit, I would be pretty unhappy given the circumstances myself, but you are talking about 2 snipers, as well as 6 commandos + a captain, not a soviet or japanese force which only has one, and a handful of regular infantry. Each sniper shot is an instant kill on infantry, and the Commandos are the thickest "regular" infantry in the game. Plus, you attacked them when they had forest (+4 defence) and entrenchment (+4 defence, + a million other defensive bonuses and 1/2 morale loss rate). You should have lost.

If you sent in any non-infantry mechanized unit you would have taken them out quickly, even factoring in the woods (penalty for vehicles, bonus for them) and their entrenchment. Why? Because the snipers can't kill a truck as easily as they could kill a man.
