Cedar Point is an ok park. It has some great rides, but of course they have over zealous safety issues.

Every ride has trim brakes on a drop somewhere.... I don't know why, but they do. However it is worth the admission price regardless... Just when and if you go... Go on a Monday or Tuesday. Less Crowded.

Generally it is a very clean park, with nice workers. But there are days when trash gets out of hands and the kids running the rides, well they just need some good foot to butt behind the dorms. If you go in early May during the week it is a ghost town and the whole park(coasters) can usually be ridden by 5 or 6 o'clock. When Top Thrill Dragster is running, all the lines move a lot faster. I haven't had many bad experiences(mean workers) considering my first trip to Cedar Point was in 1985 and I haven't missed a season, but there have been some times where I have had a rude worker. I also reported a worker for being very recklous with the lap bar on Millennium Force. Generally it is a nice park. Now if you plan on carrying a bag around the park, some rides have bins for the things, some make you take it on the ride with you and some like Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force make you put it all in a locker. My suggestion to you is leave it in the car. Also wear cargo pants with big pockets. If you can find pants that have removable legs and turn into shorts, those are perfect for Cedar Point. Pack for all types of weather even if the weather people don't say that it will be hot/rainy/snowy/cold or giant frogging, it can and does happen there. Being surrounded by water makes for some interesting weather. All in all, it is a nice park. Great rides, good food and usually wonderful service.

1. Prime Time: May 31, June 1-2 Tuesday-Thursday
The Water Rides are usually open between Memorial day (May, 30th) and Labor Day (September, 5th). The operating hours are long and the heat won't kill you. The spring showers and wind will have started to subside. The employees won't have time to get burned out. The rides will be in great condition. Many schools will still be in session. Not to mention, the hotel rates are low at that time and packages will be available. Those will be three of the best days to visit most parks in 2005. The middle of the week right after A major Holiday is Prime Time. Take advantage everyone.

2. Best Resorts

1. Breakers: It's the closest with several room types.
2. SandCastle Suites: 6 person suites with minifridge.
3. Lighthouse Point: Great for 4-6 people with more privacy.
(Off-site Resorts did not qualify due to convenience issues)

3. Tickets

Ticket price are rumored to rise $3.00 for the 2005 season. Hotel Guests paid $62.00 for 2-day passes last season. I don't expect them to cost more than $65.00 in 2005. During my visits when Resort Packages are available, I upgrade to 2-day tickets, they only charge me the price difference. The Packages are for 2 nights and come with starlight tickets. That it great for A 2 1/2 day trip.

Of all the parks I've been to, Cedar Point is easily my favorite, with my 4 favorite coasters. The comment about "every" coaster having a trim brake on a drop is a significant overexaggeration. Mean Streak and Mantis have trims on the drops. That's 2 out of 16 coasters that have such trims. While those trims are often in use, they are not always in use -- I got on Mantis several times in 2004 where the hill trim was not in use.

Most other brake spots are block brakes, allowing the simultaneous safe operation of more trains. Magnum has one trim brake just before the pretzel turn. That brake is rarely used. Its use is highly dependent on wind conditions. It was originally installed as a "quick fix" in 1989, when people were getting banged up in the pretzel turn due to excessive speed. Some modifications were made to the third hill over the winter 1989-1990, significantly reducing the need for that trim brake, but it was kept for situations where a tail wind causes excessive speed for the coaster when entering the pretzel turn.

In my 35 consecutive seasons visiting Cedar Point, I've only had a few poor experiences. I commented to guest services or park operations in each case, and was always satisfied with their efforts to correct the issues. They took immediate action to do what they could to fix the problem. In other words, if you see an issue, politely report it, and, in my experience, they'll do what they can to fix it.

I enjoyed Cedar Point a lot also. One thing that I liked about it was the fact that it's flat! Unlike Six Flags over Georgia with countless hills you walk up and down all day, you dont get as tired as easily as the day progresses. This helps you get more done...now dont get me wrong, I'm not out of shape, but with all the humidity Georgia has in the summer time, you get tired much quicker, especially with the hills (particularly the hill going into Gotham City....appropriatly titled "Cardiac Hill")

p.s. I LOVE KYLE!
