What the heck are they replacing it with?
I just surfed rcdb.com and noticed under Knoebels that the Whirlwind is now in the operated Category. Are they removing it, or are they expanding it and changing the name.
I worked @ Knoebels 10 years ago during summer break from school and it was the year Whirlwind was installed. There were plans for a 1 million dollar expansion to the ride which included.
Adding 40ft to the lift and 1 loop.
So does anyone know what the fate of Whirlwind is going to be?

If you were wondering what would happen to the park’s removed Whirlwind coaster, Knoebels has sold it to a small Caribbean amusement park run by the Costa Rica Children’s National Hospital who recieves all of the park’s proceeds. Knoebels is adding two new flat rides for next season, a Zamperla Flying Tigers and an outward facing Frisbee ride. So Whirlwind has not been destroyed, just sold to another park.

I'm dissapointed that they are removing it. I was planning to go there this year, and thought this ride looked neat. Oh well, I'll probably still end up going. I just wish they had replaced it with another roller coaster.

Hey, wouldnt you rather have a frisbee than an old vekoma coaster?

To tell you the truth, I would take any old rollercoaster of a frisbee.
I mean Whirlwind was a nothing ride, 64ft high 2 corkscrew inversions... The whole ride lasted 1:05, I know I ran the ride when I worked there.
However, Knoebels needs something in the steel category just so they can compete with parks like Dorney and Hershey. If Knoebels were smart, the would buy an older B&M inverted and relocate it to the park... Hell even one of Vekoma's inverts would be a nice added touch.

Knobels dosent need to compete...their a park in their own catergory, and a invert would just ruin the parks charm....ask anybody on here and they will say that Knobels is just fine...plus their more of a traditional park
