Over lunch, I was watching an old Charlie Chaplin film called By The Sea. (It's on Chaplin's Essanay Comedies Volume 2 DVD. The film was originally released in 1915.)
In the background was a pier amusement park with what appeared to be a figure 8 coaster. I'm guessing the pier was in the L.A. area, and that the park (and possibly the pier) no longer exist. But, I was hoping someone here who is familiar with the L.A. area might be willing to take the time to see that old film, and see if they can identify the area and the old park. At first, I thought it might be the predecessor to Pacific Park, but the pier doesn't look long enough. (Of course, it could have been extended since then, but the area still didn't look quite right.) Any thoughts on the location of the park in this old Chaplin film would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
