Has anyone been to Cedar Point during the 4th of July weekend? I'm taking a group of high school students on a servant event in WI and we're planning on going to a park on Saturday July 2nd. I've never been to CP during the weekend, but I'm thinking the park would be really busy. I'm looking at some alternatives such as SFGA or PKI. Thanks for any input you can give.

Well it is hit and miss. But it is a safe bet that the weekend at the Point is going to be a madhouse. I try to avoid the weekends at CP during July.

If you do go to CP on the 4th, park in the front lot as close as you can the exit. DO NOT PARK IN THE BACK PARKING LOT!!!

Ack! Weekend..and 4th of July with Kids?!?! Bad mix! I would do it on a weekday before or after the fourth. We went a couple years on the 4th, only cause we have season passes...and I would of been so ticked if we had to pay to get in..lines were so long...we ended up leaving after being there 3 hours and only riding two things. If you all have to pay for the day to get in, I would suggest finding a different date..any possible way to do it before school lets out on a weekday?

July 4th is usually busy in the evening due to the fireworks. However, in my four summers working at Cedar Point (1986-1988, 1990), it amazed me that 3-day holiday weekends, while still rather busy, were often much less busy than non-holiday weekends. Of those weekends, the middle day is usually the busiest, with the holiday itself usually being the quietest. However, like I mentioned, the 4th of July Fireworks draw a lot of visitors, so that factor changes the dynamics a bit.
It's always best to avoid the weekends at Cedar Point and go during the week, when possible. Friday visits can even be quite good, as the crowd doesn't generally pick up until the "twilight" hours.
