How about an Airtime Competiton? No prizes, just see who can get the most airtime on a coaster. No rules so no size, legnth, type of coaster ristrictions, or any of that stuff. Just Airtime. Let me know what you think, it's just an idea.

Good idea, it should have a length restriction though otherwise it will turn into a 'who can build the longest ride'-competition.

Let's make this one a hyper/giga/strata coaster type contest. There too many competitions that involve inversions. (after all, airtime is mainly why I ride coasters, though I enjoy the B&M twister type rides once in a while)

how about limits to the stats toos, as its easy to create a high airtime monster if you dont mind Uber-Extreme ratings

How about just making it a % based on ride time? Of course, the ride also has to be ridable to prevent ultra extreme intensity rollercoasters.
That way shorter coasters are just as viable as long coasters.

Ok on all of this, but I would like to include woodies. Limit stats is good, legnth restriction I don't mind but dosn't matter to me, ANY type of coaster goes, but no inversion pieces. I think we need to utalize (sp?) overbanks on the count of being easy to turn at high speed. Rating restriction agreed. MUST BE RIDEABLE! So is this a possibility? When should we start?

One other thing, I don't think we should be able to use recretions that will defenitly have airtime. Original designs only. I don't know, is this a stupid rule and a stupid idea all together?
EDIT: How did this end up in general disscussion? It was started in Exchange. Oh well...:downcast:

I'll work on a giga, but my woodie that I already have uploaded, is HERE (http://img161.exs.cx/img161/4426/stats9qv.jpg) or http://img161.exs.cx/img161/4426/stats9qv.jpg Keep in mind that this is already made, but not for this contest, it's my design for Nintendo Land

Ok, so the benchmark is set at 46 seconds. Any challengers? Mine was 31 seconds, so I iwll have to see what I can do.

its been moved again now lol
anyway, mine was somewhere near the current benchmark, it may be slightly less though, can't remember off by heart

I posted a 1:08 in the other thread and rizzla posted a 1:2x aswell.
However I still think that this should be % based on ride time. eg my ride is 2:31 with 1:08 air time so it is ~45% air time.
I think this method is better as there is nothing stopping me from making a sandbox park with one gigantic giga coaster that rockets itself around the map for an hour just building up a stupid amount of air time.

dammit, i just got 50 as well, but as a percentage sounds like a good idea to make it fairer

OK, lets do the percentage thing.

Two things to note (in another thread here I just argued that proposing rule changes should not be thought of as negative):
1. Maybe only one circuit? Thergothon, our coasters do five circuits and that increases the airtime slightly. Mine's 1:13/2:20 (or rather, 73/140 seconds: 52%) - on a single circuit it is exactly 50% (though 0:13 of 0:26 - such a short ride - maybe the numbers are just more inaccurate).
2. Maybe a minimum ride length / ride time? 50% on my coaster sounds good, but 13 seconds don't impress...

lets make up rules as we go along!!!:haha:
