The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland has gotten some great upgrades since it came back from the rehab.

1. Madame Leota-Her crystal ball head floats around the room like in the movie. The video has been inhanced to digital technology.

2. Changing portraits-They react to lightning now and they replaced the April/December portrait with master gracy from WDW. They do not fade anymore but when lightning flashes you see them change instantly. The hallway is very spooky now.

3. The Knight-He has returned from his absence

Here is a video and some pictures

That Mousehub link requires you to register... any chance of putting up that video someplace that doesn't require registration?

Very cool Voodoop. When I visit, the Mansion will be on my to ride list. I also have to remember to go on Davy Crockett's Explorer canoes. Also I have to go on Storybook Land Boats and Roger Rabbits CarToon Spin AND Pirates of the Carribean, all of em were closed last time and I have to be sure to catch Fantasmic.

so THATS why it was closed when I went there!

I can't wait to see the new and spiffy haunted mansion. I, however, hope they don't change it too much. The haunted mansion is a classic and will always have some nostalgia.

I'm sure the whole track is still the same, just better technology I guess. The Grave Digger scares the crap out of me. I still think the scariest rides are the Dark Rides in Fantasyland, like Snow White, Pinnochio and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Those scenes were frightening, I still remember when the Queen turned into the evil Witch in the mirror. Haha

Voodoop have you been to Disneyland in the past few days or weeks? Is everything covered in tarps?

I was there last month, it was closed and had walls set up so I couldn't see anything. I heard drilling.

Well I went on the ride and it rules. They really did a good job with beefing up the effects.

Yes they did. I was just there too and I saw the new paintings that were on the darkbeer website and I was like OMG THERE THEY ARE! I was having a silent spaz. LoL. I noticed this time, they moved the grave digger and his dog from the front of the ride to the graveyard part.

The guy who shakes his legs standing by the dog has always been in the graveyard.

I heard a rumor that in the "stretching room" they have added new "pin-point" speakers so that only certain guests hear whispering, but other guests standing right beside them hear nothing.

Any confirmations?

Haven't heard any such thing. But there IS new audio on Big Thunder Mountain during the Earthquake. Strangely, it kind of sounds like Tower of Terror! Oh..and interesting fact for those that don't know. The portrait change in the Haunted Mansion is actually a revert BACK to the way it used to be. Yay! :)

Next up is Jungle Cruise...should be lots of new little things there.

Hi, Joshua, long time no see!

Those speakers you're talking about are a relatively new invention. They work off of ultrasonic sound waves, which can be focused into a narrow beam. These sound beams allow for other soundwaves to piggyback on them, thus focusing these carried soundwaves to be focused on the same beam as well. This allows for localized sound... the person standing next to you won't hear the sound you will.

That is true but they added the Master Gracy portrait and got rid of the April/December portrait.

Yes this is true.

Yeah, it has been a while Squid!

Thanks for the info on the speakers...Really neat...I was wondering how they would do that since soundwaves from multiple speakers would tend to cancel the waves out rather than intensify the wave, and a single source seems like everyone in a direct path would hear it and the beam would scatter. Now I want to see one of these!
