I hate it when I am in line for Pirates of the Carribean or Haunted Mansion and I hear about the movie tie-ins of each. Sure, POTC the movie was a fairly decent movie but now anyone who has not ridden the ride will be looking for Jack Sparrow. Do not even get me started on the Haunted Mansion movie (which had potential but should not have been a comedy). One time the "doom buggy" in front of me was speaking about how the man in with the light with his dog was not in the movie. Am I the only one who is slightly annoyed by this?

 Who is ready for the Matterhorn Mountain movie?!

How about the Jungle Cruise movie? (Coming soon, and no, I'm not joking!) Well, something for you to think about... Disney has modified Haunted Mansion to reflect things in the movie. For instance, Leona's crystal ball now levitates about the room in a fashion similar to the movie. However, there's no Eddie Murphy in the ride! And there are very solid rumors that they are modifying the queue line of POTC to include Jack Sparrow.

There almost has to be an "It's A Small World" movie in the works! Two hours of "It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small, small, world."

Headlines after the World Premiere: "Man runs out of movie, trying to rip his ears off. Started shouting, 'That song! I can't take any more of that song!'

:D

(Having said all that, I actually like the Small World attraction, especially the holiday version.)

Did you ever see the MAD TV skit using the idea of an "It's A Small World" movie? It was hilarious! It had to do with living dolls that were out to kill the heroes of the movie (which included Ellen Degeneres and Captain Jack Sparrow).

I think it'd be awesome to have a Jack Sparrow animatronic in the PotC ride. I grew up riding that ride, but I have no problem with updating it just a bit. One animatronic won't hurt anything.

Why didn't they just use characters in the ride in the first place. Them changing the ride to match the movie, I do not like.

Well, they really didn't 'change' the ride to reflect the movie. Doing that would tick off a LOT of loyal Disney fans. About the only change that one could say was influenced by the film was the floating crystal ball, but even that was in the planning stages before the film was made. (It is possible that the ride change influenced the movie, not the other way around.) For Haunted Mansion, they just finished the rehad for the park's 50th anniversary. When they do a rehab, they update the effects, repair the ride, etc. This has happened several times over the years.

And from what I've heard, they're not modifying POTC: The Ride, just the queue line for it.

since i've only been to WDW once, i can't really fathom what the problem is for a queque line change. Just for the record: There's almost no chance of me going to Disney any time in the future (somewhere around 5 years). Plus, soooo many people probably come to the park expecting to see such things as that, so they probably complain when they don't. And on top of that... If Eddie Murphy and Johnny Depp hadn't been cast for their roles, you'd be saying you hate who did get casted. But, off the records, i can see what your arguments are about, why alter any part of a ride/ride entrance to a movie that's only remotely loosely based off of a ride created a long time ago? It would probably make Walt roll over in his grave to see one of his rides, with it's current theme, be changed just because of a movie.

Some of the things I saw in December at WDW would have Walt doing more than rolling over in his grave -- he'd be doing somersaults and various aerobics that would make a gymnast jealous. There are a lot of great things at Disney, but, sadly, the Walt Disney Company is slipping significantly. I hope they figure it out and get back on track soon. After my last visit, I have no intention of staying at the All Star Resorts again, and that experience may make me think twice about staying at any of the Disney resort hotels, which is too bad, because they are convenient and interesting places to stay.
