Camden Park in Huntington West Virginia has more rides than:
Paramount's Kings Island

It is a great traditional park that has made great imrovements.
It also has the best whip than other park i've been to.
Camden's Whip is way better than Knoebels or Kennywoods'.

By any chance, have they done a major repainting effort throughout the park, and cleaning up of the Log Flume? It's been a couple of years since I've been to that park, but, when I was there, while I had a good time, it was desperately in need of paint, and the Log Flume was a mess with plants growing into the flume. Oddly enough, I also developed a rash at the spots that got wet while on that flume.
I don't mean to put down the park -- I enjoyed it more than quite a few other parks I've visited. But, those are things I felt desperately needed work.
I do question the claim that it has more rides than Kings Island, however. Doing a real quick check, I counted 29 rides at Kings Island, not including the water park.
I hope Camden does manage to grow and improve -- those two wood coasters are classics. I enjoyed them, and I encourage people to go to parks with classic old coasters in order to aid in their preservation. I'm disappointed that the old shuttle loop that came from Kings Island couldn't be saved, but I know it was in terrible condition when I was at Camden. (I believe you or someone else mentioned it has since been demolished.)

yeah,
wasn't there a post that had links to a site where you could see everything about that ride?

This year there was no weeds around the log flume. When I visited last year weeds would touch you as you floated by but now all the weeds have been cut. Also weeds around Swan Lake have also been cut. A lot of things did recieve new paint but the big dipper wasn't one of them this past season. New flowers and plants have been planted all throughout the park including cool flowers planted in the shape of "1903". I to have questioned the water on the log flume but this year i actually smelled chlorine!!!
Also a friend of mine, who works for camden park, mentions on his sight about paint.
Maybe you got poison ivy from the log ride....lol
Here is that sight and it has links to his Thunderbolt Express page.

Wow, that old shuttle loop is ugly! But it's a shame because there are very few Arrow shuttle loops left.

Sad to see such a classic ride like this go to waste.....we had a similar coaster named Python at SFA back in the 90's,that fourtunately was taken care of much better than T-bolt express was.
In fact the park still has it sitting in pieces behind Batwing,it was replaced by Two face in 99 & had operated at the park from 93 through 98 & was my first shuttle coaster.
Seeing those pics of Camden's ride really brings back memeories of my first ride on Python.....the main thing I disliked about the ride was having to climb all those darn stairs to get to the platform but at least it was almost always a walk on whenever my friends & I were there & it was quite a freaky experience to see the end of the track approaching after the loop just before the reverse launch, the first time I rode it I thought the train would roll right off the track.

I think the last one I rode of that old shuttle loop coaster was at Elitch Gardens in Denver. In the last couple of years, I've also been on the one at Frontier City in Oklahoma, and the one at Fun Spot in Indiana.
From what I can tell, those are the only ones still running in the U.S.
Many years ago, I went on the one at Boardwalk and Baseball in Florida, but that park is looooooong gone. (According to RCDB, the one from Boardwalk and Baseball was relocated to Fun Spot.)
I remember Camden's when it was at Kings Island, but I don't recall for certain if I ever rode it there.
Do you know if Camden sold it to someplace that might make an effort to restore it, or is it just being scrapped?

As far as I know it's being scrapped entirelly, look at those pics & you'll see that sadly the ride is far beyond saving.
An interesting fact about Frontier city's shuttle looper & SFA's is that they both operated at SFGRADV as lightnin loops from 77 to 93,one half(the upper half) was sent to then Adventure world (now SFA)where it operated as python from 93 through 98 & the other half(the lower half) was sent to Frontier city where it still operates as Silver bullet.
The original design had the two tracks interlocking at the loops but obviously the whole ride would not have fit into the space Adventure world had to construct it,SFGRADV removed LL in 93 to make way for their B:TR interestingly enough.

Actually, I didn't have to look at the pictures -- I saw it in person a couple of years ago, when there was a tree lying on the track, several major supports were missing, and it looked like it could collapse at any time. However, if a company wanted a piece of history, and was willing to put the effort into replacing the bad supports, control panels, cables, etc., it could still be saved.
I have no doubt it wouldn't be cost-effective to save it, but, as I mentioned, it would go well in a park interested in preserving a bit of roller coaster history, placing such history above the cost-effectiveness. I could see family-owned places such as Kennywood being interested in such a thing, whereas the publicly-owned companies (like Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Disney, Universal) probably wouldn't have any interest.

^True but if one of the smaller parks such as Kennywood wanted an Arrow shuttle they could always buy the one that's at SFA,which of course is in a condition that'd probably still permit safe operation.
On the subject of KW what ever happened to their Lazerloop shuttle? I know it was removed when SP was added in 91 but did they sell it to another park or just scrap it alltogether?

The Thunderbolt will be scrapped cause it was to old and inrepairable. I also did make a mistake when I said Camden had more rides than Kings Island. Starting 2005 PKI will have 28 rides and Camden 27.

I know of another Arrow shuttle loop, in fact I saw it today. Admited closed but it should be running later this year when you visit our fair isles, Harpo. I am of course talking about The Irn-Bru Revolution at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The ride looked to be in full working condition and ready for operation but was closed today (like Rollercoaster and Space invader 2, all three of which I wanted to ride, grr) when I visited the park one of it's open weekend today in preperation for it's full park opening in March. So there are a few arrow launched loops left in the world still.

It's really promising that Camden will add a new flat ride for 2006. Possibly were the Thunderbolt Express was. But they also have other locations throughout the park for some more nice flats. Camden has no plans for a new ride for 2005. But they will be doing the following: Savage Ancient Seas Exibition, Fog machine for Haunted House, building a large Gazebo, and general improvents such as paint and landscaping. Also these are just plans that have been made early so I look forward for the park to announce more plans has the season comes upon us.

There was an old shutte looper at Carowinds from 1977 to 1988. It was removed so the park could add Whitewater Falls and the waterpark (or parts of it).
It was sold and currently resides in South Africa.
It's a shame I never got a chance to ride it before it was removed (I was 7 when it was removed).
