Never been there. Is it near Blackpool? If it is then I will try to go.

Thorpe Park is nowhere near Blackpool (other side of Birmingham). Its on the outskirts, not far from Heathrow.

I might actually have to go there this year, everytime i try, i get told the park isn't worth the day out, though i think they have enough thrill rides now to satisfy the nay-sayers.

Its gonna be amazing this year! I try and go once a year on a teacher training day when its all quiet - walk on rides!:D

I like Thorpe Park. The last time I was there I rode Nemesis Inferno naked!

Thorpe is the park to watch as they have big plans for coasters and thrill rides...something that the other two Tussauds parks can only dream of due to the restricted planning permission at Alton Towers and Chessington.

Not only that, Thorpe management is much better, and many of the big rides have single rider queues, so if you visit a park by yourself (or don't mind not riding together) you can get loads of rides in!!

two things - firstly, eugh, forgot about your record attempt David

secondly, what restrictions does Chessington have that Thorpe Park doesn't because they aren't really that great a distance away from each other.

And i'm glad they have a single rider queue, makes the day a lot more fun.

Put simply, both parks fall in two different Planning Authority (Council) areas, and each one will have its own planning policies etc.

Chessington has a strict planning restriction, which is why the vampire coaster was built with 2 lifthills...the maximum height would have seriously limited how far the coaster would actually travel, so John Wardley used two lifthills to get a longer ride out of it.

Fortunately the council at Thorpe are more relaxed about height limits.

(and my naked body is perfectly tasteful by the way!).

;)

David.

its alright, i've seen it before in one of the other threads here, it was just the thought of sitting in the same seat afterwards (not trying to imply anything):D

Don't forget we sat on plastic seat covers, so fear not!!

I am sure that Thorpe will overtake Alton Towers as the most popular park in the group very soon. Alton may have some success with the Rita launched coaster this year, but Thorpe is where it will all happen in the next few years.

Alton Towers will always have the most unique rides though, look at nemesis compared to nemesis:inferno and rita compared to the concept of Thorpes Rocket. Can't wait for the UKs best park to be near me again though when it does happen
