game only half working

Need help bad, I just bought the game and installed fine, the video and all. Started playing the game went through the main menu fine and started a single player game. Loaded fine and when i started to play. the entire ground appeared gray. I can see the buildings, trees, bridges, and units. but the roads, sand, grass, whatever will not show up.
I have tried many solutions and still it is not working, i have been able to get the ground to appear but then i loose the units and buildings. I don't know what the problem is, and am open to any solutions.
I have a GeForce 5500 graphics card (which plays Doom 3 fine) and meet all the other requirements, but the boards still will not completely appear.
Please if anyone has any idea how to fix this let me know.
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem.

I think there's a patch already for AoW, try this if you haven't, and make sure your drivers are up to date. Failing all this call tech support, they may be able to help.

i downloaded the patch and now i can not even get the main menu of the game and i can not get rid of the patch. The game goes through the begining video and starts loading then stops at 63 % and i get an error now. The patch won't run either. It says that i already have a version equal or new than the patch.

I hear rumbings about some issues and I *think* there's a FAQ about AoW issues on the AoW forum. For now I'd recommend a visit to the AoW forum or a call to tech support if you find no answers there.
