Hey guys, I'm running the PC version of Driv3r, and I have a Logitech Momo Force Feedback steering wheel, which works great in all games... Except Driv3r! http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/lynx/yeltongue.gif The problem is that Driv3r only seems to recognize me turning the wheel when it's at its extreme clockwise or counter-clockwise positions, even though I've set it up to work with analog settings...

Any thoughts or help with this would be VERY much appreciated! :)

Thanks in advance!

If you find an answer, pass it along this way. I use an analog joypad, but there is no analog response in cars, only motorcycles. There is a huge dead zone in the middle, followed by a sudden lurch in response about midway left or right on the stick. Very disappointing. I hope they fix this.

Yeah, that's pretty much the same thing that I'm experiencing with the steering wheel... Keep your fingers crossed! :)

BTW, I just sent a support request to Atari, so we can hope they'll be aware of this issue (if they aren't already!)

It's great to see new people on the forum. The vets from the console versions are here to help you in any way, but in this case we can't do much...

Trust me, the game is so glitchy, and we've expressed our views so many times, it's absurd. Atari doesn't listen, so don't expect a patch to come out -- they don't care what trouble you have.

*MODS: Don't ban me for this, please :)*

Why would they ban you for telling the truth? ;)

They did before. I got banned for saying that San Andreas beat Driv3r. That's the truth ;).

I think this is just a side effect of the way the cars are modeled as far as their physics properties, though I did read somewhere that the PC version was suppose to get additional support for wheel controllers I sure don’t see anything in the game that would substantiate this.

I’m playing with a Logitech wingman rumblepad that has two analog sticks, what I’ve noticed is at low speeds the controls are rather unruly (the huge dead zone feeling) but at higher speeds there’s much more control. When I make a turn around a sharp corner I don’t use the break at all, just let off the gas and push the stick left or right then hit the gas again, sort of makes for a power turn without loosing control. This game is only half driver, because of the first/third person parts that are in the game I would hesitate in even trying to play this game with a wheel.

Who uses steering wheels anyway? Keys are so much better, if you want to steer...get outside and drive your car.

Bah, driving games are meant to be played with steering wheels. http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/otn/realhappy/biggrin.gif Anyhow, I'm not here to compare apples to oranges, just to solve a problem. http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/cwm/winkanim.gif

All driving games should support a wheel like it's a WHEEL, not some strange controller.

I use my PS2 pad for Driv3r(PC), and the controls and responses seems to work just like on the PS2 version. I have both games PC and PS2. I think you just need to configure your control settings and try both analog and digital, see what works best. I spend like one hour configuring and playing, going back and forth to set up the controls. But I hope they do release a patch more the game soon, lots of bugs.

When me and my friends bought NFS: Underground, all 4 of us...all of them had steering wheels, except me...and they wondered why I was always the first to complete a race. Steering wheels are over-rated, they suck. You have to turn the wheel all over the place to make a turn in game.

I understand. But I *WANT* to use my steering wheel. :P This is a driving game, it should support a steering wheel like every other driving game on the market. :P

Cenobite, you have not driven race sims I see :)

Try GPL or NR2k3 with a keyboard compared to a wheel.

Same issue with the Microsoft sidewinder FF ... found this in the Readme...

Peripheral Issues

Driv3r does not support non-analog gamepads, such as the Microsoft Sidewinder, Gravis Gamepad Pro, or Logitech Precision gamepad. You will need to obtain an analog controller, such as the Logitech Dual-Action gamepad or Logitech Wingman Rumblepad if you wish to play Driv3r with a gamepad.

Magor dissapointment. Driver 1 was the reason I bought the wheel ($150.00), and it was the most realistic driving sim I have ever played. I complained when 2 wasnt released on PC, and ordered Driv3r last summer so I could finally play a sequal that knew how to create a realistic driving experence. GTA Vice was the same thing... no support. I do hope they plan to add support for them someday! Guess its back to "Driver 1" for me.

any inside insight is welcome.

Yeah, I was annoyed at the lack of support in GTA Vice City also. But I don't really see what the problem with providing support for the digital steering wheel is, since all they have to do (I'm speaking as a programmer), is just pull in the data as if it was analog, it's NOT a big deal... I mean, seriously, they support the force-feedback on it, but they can't support it as an analog device? It really IS an analog device, the API shows it as such, what's the problem?

The original Test Drive (2000 Edition) just doesn't work with Logitech Momo wheel. So what wheel does work with this game? Support has no patch eventhough the games readme file says that a patch is available through website. From what I have read the newer Test Drive versions have not improved wheel control. I like the original Test Drive because it offers classic autos to race. Are there any other games out there that offer classic autos and DO WORK WITH THE MOMO WHEEL!?! other than need for speed. Thanks.
