Line wide Coaster Contest!

Hello, and welcome to the line wide coaster contest!
This contest is exclusively for the members of the RCT3 Expansion line, which can be found in my sig. In this contest, we will post our coaster, and the judges (I need judges by the way) will judge your coaster on: Intensity, (meaning not blow your head off intensity, or *Yawn* intensity) Exitement, and scenery. The coaster must be a sandbox scenario, with ONLY the coaster, and your scenery around the coaster, not park scenery. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post. :) also, if you want to be a judge, PM me.Once we have all our entrys, (Deadline is one week from now.(The 30th)) The judges will PM me with there scores for each coaster, and I will tally them all up. Please note, if you are a judge, you CAN enter a coaster, but you canot vote for yourself.Have fun, and build away!

Well, I was thinking that people would submit a sandbox park with only their coaster, and the scenery for that coaster, because we're going to judge scenery. and that they could post it in the thread so people know what they're up against. And, once the contest is over, all the judges will send me their rating for each coaster by PM. If a contestant wants to post a screenshot or video, they can do that.

How about when the constest is over one post that lists all the submitted rides, the entrants names, and the location we can download the ride... That way we can then quote that post in a PM back to you and have our 1-10 rating...

What I was thinking, was when someone enters their coaster, they post a link to where the coaster can be downloaded, then, when the contest is over, all the judges sent their rating of each coaster to me. then, after that, I will post all the coasters, and their tallied ratings in order from first to last. Hmmmm... I just thought of someting. we need a PRIZE! Since this is a coaster competition for the expansion line, maybe the winner could win... something there... like maybe... well.. what do you want?

Thats how I feel about my contest *points to sig*. One person has nominated a park, and thats it. Everyone just ignores this forum. I'll be lucky if I get 2 nominations. I am thinking of pushing back the dates, but I will just have to wait.

Hmmmmm... Does that uploader require you to register? If it doesn't and not very many people enter, I might actualy stand a chance. (inmy dreams) So if, no registration is required, I think ill submit something. Oh, and we post it here, not in PM form right? Belloman, he said you can enter if your a judge but, you cant judge your own. Crap, I don't stand a chance against any of you. My creativity and patience are pretty low. Ill try though.

Grrrrr. My station building fell through completly. I have to completly redesign the building, as I forgot to build the queue and exit. I truly am stupid. I hope to have it done by Monday or Tuesday.:cry:
EDIT: I finished the coaster, it was pretty good, all the stats in the 8's. I was just starting to color the ground to make it look like a desert, then poof, my machine freeezes and shuts dfown. Everything would be fine, but I didn't save the coaster. I am really stupid. Oh well, hopefully some other judges will makje a coaster if other people don't join. I might start over. Stupid terrain colorer...:bored:

I would join, if only I wasn't in the middle of making a video for my park, which requires a lot of time, as you know. Also, I think I wore out my creative skills when creating my last coaster :p.

I would enter, if the the deadline wasn't Wednesday. I can't create a great coaster with excelent theming in two days. It takes... well a little longer than that. I build as I think of things. For example, I built my current project as I thought of things. That is my building strategy... When I build a coaster, I don't usually think of the theming right away. I usually look at the coaster, and after building it, I usually alter it to fit a theming I want.

In a few days I will be submittingmy mirrored coasters from my Lagos park that is over in the 1st Small Park Competition. It may not be the most exciting, but it is one of the most challenging I have ever done... Then once you are on it and there are the trees and water reflections, it is great.

Part of the scenery with rides, in a theme park are other rides. Isn' t it cool if you have a coaster making a helix turn around an observation tower that is rising. Time that right and it looks great on a video...

So should we have other rides as scenery, or only scenery we can get from the scenery button selections.

ahhh. mlike I said, you don't have to makea coaster if you don't want to.also, if you need to upload thingsd to the interweb (:P it rolls off the tounge better.) you need to find a site that you can upload files to. like www.imageshack.us or http://www.alienhax.us/uploader/index.php or the RCT uploader I mensioned earlier. Theres also upload hut, and put file. (You'll have to google those... I don't have the links) so... thats about all you need to know! :D if you have any more questions, just ask me.

The line started as a bunch of people camping out waiting for RCT3. like when people camp out for tickets for something, but much longer in this case. I'll do a search for it in a minute, but it might be gone because it was locked. :( anyway, the original line was started by geardy, and we already have two or three people from the original line in the current line waiting for soaked! A.K.A Cape Typhoon. (I don't like that name. Soaked! Sounds better) In the line, we already have a giant underground cinema/hotel/school/reasteraunt/spa/motion simulator/etc. Basically you could LIVE there, which is basically what we're doing. :P (Note for the gullible: This is fiction. none of us are ACTUALLY in an underground hotel at frys, or ireland :P ) So... Thats basically the history and current ststus of the expansion line sumed up into one big post. :D

My challenge with these was the mirroring of the coasters. Now that I worked through that, the next Coaster I design may have more banks...

I might not be able to work on my coaster for a while because i'm haveing pretty big problems with the game. Probaly just my old, outdated pc with old, outdated parts, that can only run old, outdated games. I mean, cmon, even Riven is extremely slow.:bulb:

Here is something. I went back and put in banking onto the coaster, everywhere. It was good for .05 Excitment increase from the Frontier AI... So go figure. But I also found that it was easy to do, so the next coaster I can put more banking on.

(Offtopic: I made a teaser video for a coaster I made for here, but I cant find anywhere to upload it! The RCT Uploader just redirects me to some german site or whatever... I don't speak that language.. and the normal uploader I use (Alienhax) is broken or something. every time I try to upload something, it makes me wait about 15 minutes, then it tells me I didn't put anything into the little thingy where you say wheren it is on the HD. right next to browse or whatever. basically its telling me I didn't tell it to upload anything, but i did! I need osmewhere to upload stuff! :cry: )

You could use Rapidshare but I don't like it. I prefer UploadHut (http://www.uploadhut.com) .
And, it doesn't matter that my saved game is weird because my pc is SERIOUSLY messed up, but don't have the money to buy a new one. I can play rct3 for 5 whole minutes before my computer dies on me. (not permanently but this time it maybe.) I do know that my RAM is messed up cause someone told me. Anywho, I can only finish like 2 segments of track in 5 minutes, so i am gonna keep my coaster as it is until I have a new computer, than I might enter it in another contest because there is no way i am going to get done for this one. And offtopic, (it only runs for 30 seconds on gta3):cry:
EDIT: Yay! My computer works again, but im not even going ot try to touch RCT3 or any other 3d games unless I can varify that my pc can handle it again, or for judging purposes because all I have to do istake a look, ride it acouple times and decide if I like it. Can't possibly take that long.

Good idea with not trying RCT3.You might try buying some new ram or something. maybe that'll help. do you have any friends with RCT3? You could E-Mail the .trk file to them and finish it at their house. just a few suggestions. :)

hm, no all of my friends hate rct3 and everything to do with strategy/simulation games. I think strategy/simulation games are fun. I hope BorisTheFish finishes his coaster because it will pwn all other coasters, I did think DWWilkin's was good though. No new RAM for a while with the way my job is going.:( (weekend job:D )

It is the way of the world, Strategy/Sim games are a poor cousin in the world of games. FPS leads the pack, followed by RTS and these days MMORPG's. What is amazing is the strength of the RCT franchise and also that of the SIMS...

As to my coaster entry, thanks. I know it is not the greatest coaster, but I had a great time making it as a mirror, and then putting in the ponds and stream, and all the fauna give it a cool feel. (IMHO)

Errr, well... My coaster only has the first 2 hills done.:bulb: I couldn't work on it for some time because my computer died. So I hope Boris is done. Dark Magician has a pic of his coaster.:bulb:

Edit: All of boris's files were updated with soaked! and they might not work with RCT3. It also might violate the NDA, so unless there is some way to get the coaster to RCT3ers without violating the NDA and without compatibility issues, Boris can't compete. :(

You could have pmd the file to the judges if they hadthe beta. Unfortunatley I don't so the only way to get it to judges whodon't is to send the updated version to people with beta, and delete the updates and send that to people like mewho's emailgot screwed right before beta.:p

It seems that the second link is still active. The first one (Lagos_ParCoasters) without the additional park scenery was deleted at rapidshare because no one downloaded... I'll see if it is still around at home to upload. If it is I'll rededit the link. But if not there is still the entire park available. I like that better becuase it is fun to see the park as you go around on the coaster in my opinion...

I know that Hazard thinks it needs more banking and when I did that i got all of .05 extra excitement. I hadn't done that for the park because I was having a hard enough time making the exact mirror coasters. First due to pieces in one, then switch over and do two in the other, back and forth, wait did that go hard left here and up??? No it was hard left and straight.. It took a few hours, and then the coaster came out as fun, which surprised me, most of my coasters, suck...

Same here! :p My best coaster so far would have to be Blue Thunder which is available for download and widely being ignored! It still rocks though.
Edit: I may but it as a last minute entry, but I have no scewnery for it. My scenery skills suck anyway. Is it okay with everyone if I enter Blue Thunder as a last minute entry? It's up to you guys.
