Submited Coaster Must:

—Not go over 500 ft.
—Not have one space turns
—Have very high or lower intensity
—Have entrance and exit
—Be continuous circut
—Not have over 6 G's

Judging:
70% Compact

You can Submit it to me throught PM
PM me a screenshot and DL

????? Hehe!

Erm, how about "One space turns" that are steep drop and turning? See my slimjim: http://www.sininen.de/slimjim.jpg which consists of nearly nothing else!* In fact, since "compaction" is the main criteria, I'd have to fine-tune it (if possible, it's got 8.x Gs) and it'd end up in 10x2 squares...

*a vertical twist would even be a zero space turn! :)

Ha, I returned to the good old compact coasters for this one - though I really don't quite get the rules, I can make you a minute little coaster with very conservative ratings in seconds. However, I did create a nice small Vertical Drop just now, rated something like 6.0/4.5/2.2, fitting in 10x9 squares and costing about $8000. It'd be even smaller if I didn't want to squeeze a loop it in. Milkdud, I hope you like it.

Never a frown...

Just in case your wondering here is how i judge...

70% Compact-
To judge you on this i use the Length to area ratio
and i times it by 3. To get a perfect score you must have a ratio
of 23.34

20% Stats- i add together your intensity and
excitement. Obviously you cant get a perfect score
because of the no extreme rule

10% Judges Opinion- On this i rate your coaster from 1-10

By judgeing this way i made it very hard to get a perfect score
with my coasters totals i only got a 86.30

I hope this clears stuff up for you guys. Sorry i told you this so late :(

Lol, ok, your's is bigger than mine! :D

Indeed it would have helped if you had cleared that up beforehand. Though wait a sec, cleared up? Length to area ratio time it by three, perfect score is 23.34??? Been a while since I did any maths. Say 10x10 squares means something like 100 (area) /10 (length) x3 = 30... 5x5 squareas means 25/5x3= 15. 20x20 squares 400/20x3=60. Nope, I don't get it, sorry!

Adding up intensity and excitement? Bloody hell, I dunno about that. First, where's the nausea, don't you want that to be as low as possible? And intensity I usually like to keep lower than excitement, too, though as I have argued in another competition, that is really a personal preference, I'd just want as many peeps as possible to ride my coasters...

Out of curiosity, what would mine score? And what do you think of my most compact but tall coasters like:
http://sininen.de/newsky.jpg (8x6 squares!)
http://www.sininen.de/lim63.jpg (10x10 squares, 63 inversions)
http://sininen.de/verticals.jpg (both only 6x2 squares)

Also, one of my compact favorites is Screemer89's Wyvern:
http://img203.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img203&image=wyvern12pg.jpg

Apart from all that, your Tilt Coaster looks excellent and even though it is a lot bigger than what I normally build I agree it is quite compact, fitting in a lot of track. I nowadays (as you can see with my Golden Brown) try to remain compact but also keep the height (and thus cost) down, here's an example (20x20):

Rizzla, do you have a download of that last one?
It looks sweet! :D

Does it run with low friction on? Thats what I'm assuming gets it through the whole thing with that one drop :p

That's the one I sent to Aoshi for the Coaster Face-Off, hope it doesn't come up against your reigning champ. Here it is:
www.sininen.de/rollingthunder.zip

Afraid it uses block brakes as accelerators again - I think you don't like them much, but I need them to have several trains on the track anyway. I agree it is more of a challenge to get a really good design without using them altogether and I will definitely keep it in mind for the future.

Thanks! :D

How come you don't wanna go up against me? :p
By the looks of it, it has a very good chance of beating mines!

Im realy sorry i didnt tell you how i judge before.:(

The compaction judging goes more like this 10×10 area 1000 lenght (note legth is use with feet) you would do 10×10=100
then 1000/100=10 then 10×3=30 so you would get 30 plus the other things.

And i seemed to have losed your score in a few minutes ill post it again if you want you can enter a different coaster.:(

The Grade for rolling thinder is a...

77.50 I myself am amazed that it got this low my judes rating was a 9

rizzla
04-03-2005, 05:20 AM
Well, as I said before, my aim is to obviously get high excitement and low nausea ratings but also low-ish intensity ratings. One reason being that there are coaster types (most inverted, for example) where intensity will be higher than excitement whatever I try, or the Woody, where both scores are usually similar, so I'll want to have good coasters available for peeps that prefer a lower excitement. But thanks for the 9/10! :)

Only reason it wasnt a ten was because the block brakes.
I gave mine an eight because it had a more.

And give me a download of newsky please i think that one would get a good score

I believe I have posted links to all my designs in the compact coaster thread, here is the Skyscraper: www.sininen.de/skyscraper_reloaded.zip

(Check out that thread as well as the early compact coaster challenges for the pain I had to go through designing that one, it drove me up the wall! Back then I had no idea that I simply needed an inversion or two to raise the excitement rating and that the vertical twists just don't count. It again probably won't score so high cause the objective of the competition was exc >7 and int < 7).

Hehe, yes, it's more than 1500 meters track length I believe (4500+ feet that'd be) all painstakingly squeezed into that little area. Ratio is even over 100, is it? Excellent, I hadn't thought about that before! And the g-forces are even quite small, when I try similar designs with the Vertical Drop coaster they are usually extremely high (17.3 max positive vertical G's being my record, the intensity is still "only" at 8.0). Well, your turn then, try and beat that! :) (wishing good luck is absolutely in order, it was no easy task to build that monster which haunted me in my dreams)

it might take me a few days though :haha:

[EDIT]: Never mind i not putting a building around that thing way too big
