That's a horrible idea by Alton Towers. They already have a horrible name for that roller coaster, then they name it Camilla? WHat is wrong with Alton Towers? Give Rita a better name!

that's sad that's what it was named in the 1st place... name it something totally mysteriously off the wall

after some looking around i found this on how "RITA" was named..

RITA is the initials Backwards for

Alton Towers Intamin Rocket (/ride/rollercoaster)

The reason they didnt call it ATIR is because ...
1 it sounds too much like air

2 the theme is hot rod racing and all hot rod racers give their cars names.

3 OF COURSE THE MERCHANDISE - "I rode Rita"- Shirts will be all the rage

So actually RITA is a very clever name when thought about.. LOL

there we go , hope that was inspiring for you all lol

If this is true, then they could have used initials. *R.I.T.A.* (If you say it fast, you will sound like A hillbilly with A Canadian Accent. :noob:

In which case you would be missing out on one of Alton Towers best coasters (You have to love the Murray Walker 'GO! GO! GO!' just before you launch). The launch is pretty damn good as well.

According to Alton Towers management, RITA doesn't stand for anything. It is a girls name...simply that...nothing else.

It has been called a girls name because apparently all dragster cars are given girls names, and the ride is dragster themed.

Sorry to disappoint, but that was confirmed officially by AT senior staff.

Regards,
David.

probably why they confirmed that is to make people geuss why they picked rita, which could be a backwards anagram, instead of any other lady's name.... pick a name that is kinda wierd or mysterious, and u got advertisement

i hate Camilla... she is a horrible horrible person! Rita is much better... oh and here is a joke that Jay Leno made a few days ago:

The only reason that the queen isnt going to the wedding is because they didnt want anyone prettier than the bride.

I think this slightly humors the 30 day rule...

what 30 day rule?

SpiderPig
10-20-2009, 05:11 PM
There used to be a rule that threads over 30 days old were dead and couldn't be bumped, but then the mods said that asctually we can bump old threads.
I don't think they meant quite this old however...

Probably a google search or something similar... pulled up the right keywords, and bam... It happens all the time, you'll see a brand new member comment on a REALLY old thread.
