Look at the Tower of Terror planned for Tokyo Disney. It looks good but do you think it'll end up like this in the end? I read that it will NOT have the Twilight Zone theme. What I am wondering is how the ride will even be itself without it. What do ya guys think?

Hmm, I guess no one will know till it opens in 2006. It seems wierd they ditched the Twilite Zone theme because both rides in WDW and DLR are very popular with the theme.

my guess is different culture, different audience

I believe they ditched the theme because they lost the rights to it. They're allowed to keep it on already established rides, but can't put it on new ones.

Supposedly the same thing happened to Paramount, which is why Flight of Fear lost the Twilight Zone name. (They didn't retain the right to keep the name on old rides apparently.)

It was named Outer Limits: Flight of Fear before the name change, and i remeber 2 years ago when i went, it was still listed as that, but reffered to as FoF. but that's not exactly a twilight zone episode, so i don't think that's the exact reason, unless u have proof

It wasn't a real episode but when you went on the ride they have a short video they show. It is set up just like the intro to the old show and explains the story of the ride.

Okay... that would be a big OOPSIE on my part. I would have sworn it was Twilight Zone. Sorry about that. (I get my mental wires crossed sometimes!)

There was also a Tower of Terror movie by Disney, starring Steve Guttenberg. I'm not sure if it was direct-to-video, made for TV, or if it ever had a theatrical release. I rented a while ago, and found it to be remarkably mediocre. But, it gave a somewhat interesting tie-in to the ride.

i remember that, but i didn't watch past a couple scenes after the opening, and the only interesting thought i had was how to make the special fx work

It was made for tv and you can now buy it once you exit the ride in the gift shop.
