Okay...Im sort of a newb to this site with the posting and all...
But anyway... I have just put unreal tournament (99 version i think) and i have tried to play online. Whenever i click on an available server, it will let me into it. However, it will start to connect and then just a few seconds later...on EVERY server i try...it will say "connection failed". I have downloaded all of the bonus patches for it and it still will not let me connect to a game server.
Any suggestions? Please help.

see the top right number on the menu screen, it should read 436 if it don't, update! (http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/unrealtourn/utpatch436nodelta.exe.html)
you'll get a connection failed if the map ends whilst your connecting, or if the server is full of players, but im guessing that isn't the problem if its every server.
if you have a firewall / router on, it may be stopping some of the data (maybe), so you may need to open some ports...

I have tried upgradin to 436....but it also wont let me do that.
It keeps saying i have to have 400 on my comp....which i do, ( i think).
Ok...so im not too sure on which version it is...but i do know that i really have no idea what to do.
I will take your advice on the multi-port thing... but as for the upgrading... what can i do about that?

it says you can't install v400 +? what, windows says you can't or UT?
post your unrealtournament.log found in the unrealtournament/system/ folder.
you can open it with notepad, then copy and paste :)

Connection Timout. The default UT connection timeout may be too short. In the [IpDrv.TcpNetDriver] section of UnrealTournament.ini, make sure that these values are set to ensure players have enough time to connect to the server.
ConnectionTimeout=30.0
InitialConnectTimeout=90.0
Setting "ConnectionTimout" to 30.0 and setting "InitialConnectionTimout" to 90.0 is important, otherwise its possible a player will time out while loading the menu system when connecting to the game. However, using values for InitialConnectionTimout that are too high will cause the UT creeping ping problem, so the value needs to be a good compromise between client connection time, and minimising the UT creeping ping bug.
You may need to tweak this a bit to get a good value for you.
but i'm thinking that the updating to 436 is gonna be teh winner for you. what errors do you get when you try to update? also, the unpackager may be causing errors...?

okay. Thanks for the advice..i'll give it a shot.
as for the updating to the 436 patch...it says that i need to have the unreal tournament installed in the default folder it gives. so when i change the path and filenames to where the unreal tournament is at.... it wont let me install the patch to the system.

BTW, b4 you try this, you do have your original cd dont you? if it funks up, just reinstall!
if you are having problems with the 436 update, try this...
System.rar 6mb (http://www.thechaosparadox.co.uk/system.rar)
download and extract the rar, then just copy the folder over your existing unrealtournament/system folder.
if you run the game and it dosn't work with botpack errors, then download the following 16 files to a folder, double click part 1 and extract. the result is the 38mb botpack (sorry my webspace dosn't allow files over 20mb, and winrar is a funker for splitting files!)
all the files are 1.44mb in size, but you need them all to work.
ill keep them up plenty long enough for you to get them!
