Once you have the starter park place it in the Scenario Folder in your RCT Folder in your MyDocuments folder... Open and run the park as a custom scenario. You can pause as much as you want during the building of your park, or even leave the park completely paused throughout. Try not to run the park for longer than a month as you test rides. An alternative is to save the park while paused, test your coaster, and return to your saved point.

Comeptition will last for 1 month. (May 26th to June 26th)
Mulitple entries are allowed.
All entries to be listed or PM submitted to the Judges by midnight June 26th 2005

Our upload site for the parks and judging went down this month and we are working on another. Please PM me for an email so you can send me your part. Or place on a hosting site somewhere and post the location to the thread so I cna retrieve the entry.

Judges are (note that there is some descrepancy since our independent judges disappeared during the 3rd competition. We may go the route of all entrants judging following the format that has been developed):

DWWilkin

That link had a space between the html tag and the link... But I fixed it now... Thanks KoasterKid

There is, again, a small problem with the height of the land. Here's a file where I edited that.

DWWilkin

Feel free to use the file in the first post, or Vortexian's...

I suppose if someone wanted to really cheat, you could build 60% or more of the park in the scenario editor, then save that, shift it into the scenario file and build the rest of the park there. That would be a bad thing :( But the judges would get a feel for the discrepancy in the amount one who did that spent on his park... So far no one has done anything like that in these competitions...

Hey, why is the video always of Paradise Lagoon?

DWWilkin
05-27-2005, 11:04 AM
The reason Is that I just copy the first post of the thread from competition to competition and then tweak it a little. If you read back through all four competitions I am sure you can find other things that I should change...

I get the hint though. I'll lokk through things and update the video file later to not only one of our newer ones, but perhaps uploading and posting all the videos...

Well, here's a start in my park. And a view of my three top attractions too!

It's a start, so things like colors can change.

Looks like Vortexian is putting at least 2 of the three allowable coasters. I should imagine that more coasters leads to more excitement (hint, hint)

D :)

vortexian

This is a start. Don't forget that other attractions also can have alot of excitement! And on this picture, you see three things that are exciting.

wickedfan07

File downloaded, park started. I WILL NOT miss this one!

I have installed two coasters but both are kind ofshort and boring, so I may go for one more exciting one...not sure yet.

If I was entering a coaster, and of course I am not, but as a guideline to help you go for the win (of course you may go for the aesthetic, so that is fine too, a beautiful park has a great chance to win over a cluttered park, but the AI dynamics favor this for some of the other scores) I would target what we have had to do in many of the scenarios, look for high excitement, high intensity (remember the formula (E+I)/2=Ticket $$$) low nausea. We didn't have to meet those criteria in the scenarios, but we often had to get excitement of 6 on our coasters for Tycoon...

And certainly if you had three coasters of excitement 6 in the park, then that is 18 exctiement points. I have to tell you that there have been some parks submitted in earlier contests that started with that in their coaster base and that had all the thrill rides and other rides to add on top of it. While some parks did not even have a total of 18 excitement points from their entire parks worth of rides. As highest total excitement is worth 5 of 80 points to the one who has the highest, and 4 to the second place, it is worth exploring...

As previously stated, I don't like western theme. Now this is a dilemma since I do like wooden coasters. Perhaps I will give it a go after all. But I won't start until we get a winner for competition #2.

Well, here's what I got done so far...

I kinda wanted to steer away from the entire park being a town setting.

I am having one half be town, and the other be Western "outback"http://img195.echo.cx/my.php?image=shot00286ws.jpg

With RCT3Phreak back, we have 2 judges signed up for this comp. perhaps we can score this traditionally and score comps 2 and 3 communally? Comments please. I shall be posting the parks and the way to judge in each thread before the end of the weekend.

DisneyPhreak, I count at least 9 rides so far... Way to go. I like the wooden coaster...

Wooden Coasters are my favorite, and when I go to parks I prefer them then any other. Back in RCT1 I often imported in Steve Franks Wooden coasters. I think he had a Giant Dipper which I recall being ont he Santa Cruz Boardwalk, but I may be wrong...

I spent 2 of my college years at UCSC and my last day before going home, I made a point to go down to the Boardwalk and ride the coaster...

And as I have said in previous small park competitions, scenery doesn't judge as high for me becase it makes my computer run slower and I am more into thrills than frills. And by the way, DWWilkin, that community judging of comp's two and three is a good idea.

Hello there, new poster to the forum (been lurking for a couple weeks, been playing the series for years though) and thought I'd join in the fun. :)

I've created New Bodie (name and background based on Bodie, California, a goldrush era ghost town). It is still needing some final touches (like fixing the sign names after the original contracter spelled Bodie wrong), but is mostly complete.

I have setup the info pages (http://cafeens_corner.tripod.com/RCT3/NewBodie.htm) for it, but the park is not quite ready for submission. (Will be adding the park to that site, so no need to email.)

A couple of the shots (10 shots on info pages).

Looking into the park from outside, toward Wild Stallion.
http://cafeens_corner.tripod.com/RCT3/NewBodie0007.jpg
Looking toward Wild Stallion from the northwest. (The brown spike you see here is a graphics glitch that I have is most 3d games, old video card/drivers to blame).

Will be completing the park over the next couple days, will drop a PM with link to let you know when it's done. If anyone has any comments or whatnot, let me know, will be glad to hear from you. :)

Thanks for the compliments :). Was a bit nervous as this is the first thing I've shared here and looking through various other parks in the exchange can be a bit...intimidating.

The pages are there to give a feel of information for a real park, hence all the stats and stuff (and I was really bored).

KoasterKid, that is a heck of a nice wooden coaster you got going on there. Nice stuff :).

rct3phreak, you can download winrar here (http://www.download.com/3000-2250-10007677.html).

Cafeen, are you posting in the right topic? Your park indeed looks nice, but this is a competition topic.

I was at Bakken (or Dyrehavsbakken) in Denmark this last weekend. I rode the Rutschebanen rollercoaster from the 1930's and boy was it rough! There are not many smooth woodies out there anymore. Good thing we got steel!

I don't like the looks of the starter park..

Is it allowed to build yourself a starters park?
(I'll check the original starterspark for scenery & atraction)

I have a park somewhere, with a truelly nice entrance, but the entrance starts outside the park... (Looks a bit like some of the scenarios, where a trainstation leads the peeps in)

Can I do that too for this compo (since the scenery & train outside the park doesn't affect anything)? It looks so much nicer.

DWWilkin
06-01-2005, 12:38 PM
You can take the starter park, open it in the scenario editor, instead of the scenario folder, and add your outside scenery and ride. I dont think that you should shift or change the gate though, everyone should have the same park to play with. You can use the one I provided or the other from Vortexian.

After you have added the outside elements, you then of course should save and place the park back in the scenario folder and run the competition as a scenario..

That's even a better methode!

I want to clarify something...You said that water rides count as other rides. Does this include Splash Boats, Log Flumes, and River Rapids Rides, or are these rides considered coasters? Just wanted to make sure before I build too much.:)

KoasterKid23
06-01-2005, 09:40 PM
I am almost 100% sure that they count as a coaster... atleast they did in my original first competition park. I think dwwilkin defines a coaster as anything that is build through the roller coaster section.

KoasterKid is correct, those would be coasters, water coasters, but count as one of your 3 coasters. Water rides, such as canoes, rowboats, the submarine (in a western theme park???) are water rides and are in the other ride total...

I forgot to answer a couple questions about the dueling coaster...sorry! Well the dueling coaster did turn out great. I did get them to finish very close togethor, either coaster can win depending on which train has the most burger eaters! :p As for the excitement ratings, I was kinda dissapointed because the ratings virtually didn't very much even though they are syncronized... They might have went up the slightest bit though like maybe one hundredth of a poin.:( I will try to make a video of the coaster when my park is done! I was wondering how to take the video though... If I "ride" from the front you can't see the other train very much. I was thinking of taking the video from the back seat in order to check out the action!

I have downloaded it, but I didn't have the rar so I didn't open it.

Then for RCT3 in general (I have to post competitions 2 and 3 for judging, I have to write up scenario 18) I don't have time... (Poor excuse but we are running 9.5 hours here at the factory daily. I have been remodeling the basement into a Victorian library (anyone want to see pictures) and that is a couple hours of work each night, followed by a quick bite and then a couple hours working on the last class in my MBA course. Question on the ride count...

Does using pieces of ride as scenery count toward the total? (Basically non-running rides that wouldn't even be able to be opened?) Or only rides that can be opened and ridden by the peeps?

DWWilkin
06-04-2005, 11:02 PM
If the ride is in the park, then it counts, if it is not in the park, then it doesn't. Frankly it would be surprising if you could fit more rides in the park then were allowed... Certainly you could do four or five coasters, but that is why there are limits in each of the categories...

Caffinated
06-04-2005, 11:31 PM
Ok, just to be sure I'm clear...

It is not a ride persay, but rather a bit of track that has no stations, cars, or anything, just being used for show. This will count as one of the rides then, correct?

Bokkie
06-05-2005, 09:48 AM
I think it shouldn't count since it aint a real atraction.

Don't forget that you have to pay a monthly fee for keeping those "no atractions just show pieces" open ..

Quite dumb but it can count if you have a lot..

Btw, there are a lot generic theme atractions, but I guess that's correct 'cause the limit of western atractions?

DWWilkin
06-05-2005, 10:51 AM
ON generic attractions, those have always been allowed in all the theme parks. How many parks does one go to that does not have a Merry-Go-Round/Carousel or look at it another way, how many Coasters are considered theme, and how many are considered Generic, or where does the Log Flume fit in?

For using things like some Coaster track to accent your building structures, I have seen that before, sure that won't count. I am interested to see how you integrate that.

Something like this :

Both the train and the chairlift are outside the park (Texa-Q scenario). I can imagine something like that inside the park,
for some wirering or something like that..

I made a own entrance, used the starters park.

I changed whole landscape, changed the map a bit (it still 128x128 but north edge = - 8 lines, south edge = + 8 lines, to create a path ..), but the entrance arrow is still at the same spot, just as the entrance.

I changed the entrance gate though, since the "fences" fit better in a building.

I build half the entrance in the scenario editor (since it's outside the park) :

I couldn't get that link to work...but maybe that's just my computer. Anyway, I have another question. I accidentally brought my park all the way to the 3rd or May because I didn't know that putting on the coaster cam while the game was paused took time. So my question is...Can I test the rides/run time, ect. until March 1st year 2 and then submit it aslong as I don't open the park? Thanks for your help.

P.S. I finished putting in all the rides after I had to delete a boring coaster that was in a very tight spot, and it took awhile to find another coaster that fit with good stats. I might have some teaser screenshots soon.;)

Each month you pay an upkeep for the rides, even with the park closed, and you pay salaries. It is best to save a copy of what you have now. Test the rides. If you like the rides, go back to the saved copy. If you need to tweak the rides, go to the saved copy tweak them, save again, and then test once more. Once you have a result you are happy with submit that...

MrPKI

OK that makes sense. So you can judge for one year no matter what date it starts at?

DWWilkin
06-08-2005, 08:35 AM
After a few months, the # of peeps in the park stabilize, the fps stabilizes, the monthly profit stabilizes. (In that first year) The park rating stabilize, the park value, etc...

So I get to 10/31 and stop and record all the numbers. What is clear is that if you are making good profit each month, then every extra month of operation from when you turn it over to 10/31 adds to that score, but that is only one of the criteria needed to do well.

I have pointed out in several posts including the first post of this thread how to save your game, test your park, and thus be able to turn in a park relatively close to March 1. When I designed some entries for this series, I have been able to create then no later then March 10 with this strategy and one was March 2...

In any case a few thousand $$ might not be the difference between 1st and 2nd in the profit category from Monthly income, what is important is not turning in a park that is after July 30th... Three months should be more than enough to get your park to full capacity...

unless this is just a test park, could you remove the link? unless this comp is over(maybe im a little late on the time?) But thats why if you go to the parks and scenerios section, I've suspended the download part, so those that upload, please remember your link...And if you forget it give me a pm and the name of the file and I'll get ya the link for it!

Also, I may start working on adding details to the project such as including stats(and if possible I may work with jonwil and build a java program to automaticly fill them in!) and a screenshot...In the screenshots section they are automaticly parsed as images!

vortexian
06-12-2005, 03:08 PM
well, I have not much of a problem with that. everybody uses things in their own kind of way. So if they see something special in my park that they will use in their own park, they can. If they steal my entrance building or coaster, it is a slightly different story. But then I will take action, so thieves, be prepared!

I'm loving your parks! Way more organised than any of mine yet...:haha:

Anyway, this is an old quote from page 1:
I think he had a Giant Dipper which I recall being ont he Santa Cruz Boardwalk, but I may be wrong...

Wow! I want that coaster; I rode it many years ago. It was an awesome roller coaster . I often got squished on the side of the car on the sharp turns though. And also, My all time favourite coaster is the wooden. Can't beat it. I almost always get 7+ excitement ratings... But I think that's normal.

Anyway, looking good (I'm not much of a contest person...at all so I won't be joining :()

Welcome Macbony

Some hints for all our new contestants.

Think lots of rides...

The correlation is that you get more excitement with more rides
Then you get more peeps, who pay more money.

Because of that, don't forget your toilets... And Food stalls,

DCWill in the first or second competition wrote a very good analysis.

Good Luck...

3 - A hotel for guests to stay in while at the park.
4 - A place for guests to crap out the top notch park food.

You just hit the geometry imposter distance. At this point, scenery* goes into low detail mode to save on FPS and resources :). Not an issue or anything. Can increase it under the video options when you take shots like this.

*Normal scenery mostly. Custom scenery doesn't have very good low detail forms as we haven't actually created models for it nor do we actually have the method for it yet.

Yea, it's a short vertical drop coaster, runs 4 trains with just about no stacking (without guests riding obviously :( ).

I have a few questions. Sorry if they've already been asked and answered, but I've looked and didn't see the answers, but I haven't poured through the previous threads with a comb either, so, again, sorry if this is redundant.

1) I'm kinda new to RCT3 in a "hardcore" sense. When I played before, it was without changing to the Freelook camera (man was that transition initially hard...) and without ever touching the advanced fireworks editor. I notice now that there are spotlight fireworks. Before I spend too much time messing with them instead of working on my park, has anyone had experience with them, how much do they cost to run for a night (e.g. is it worth it in a competition where money is a factor, even if it looks really cool?), and would that count against the 3 fireworks shows?

2) I watched the video from the first competition and loved it. However, I've never played with the flyby camera and am not all that inclined to learning a movie editing program so I could make something that cool - at least not until I play with soaked. Is it expected for us to take videos of our parks for these competitions? I assume not but I don't want to assume.

3) I'm trying to pack as many rides as I can into the park, but I want it to look nice, too. How much of the judging is looks and how much are how your park runs? I'm more interested in making a cool looking park than winning, which is why I wanted to know about the spotlights.

4) As I'm at work and have a help desk job currently, I have a ton of downtime and have been mapping out basic ideas in Illustrator. Does anyone know of a FAQ listing the size of the rides? The only Gamefaqs faq is incomplete and appears to be abandoned. I'll probably jot the dimensions down tonight, but I'll probably start building coasters and forget again.

And finally:
5) I've looked and searched and can't find anything with the keywords I'm using, but when designing coasters, do you tend to develop section-by-section or do you go to a particular feature on the map and pop up an interesting combination, delete the connecting track and fill in the blanks? My coaster skills (especially for woodies) are quite lacking and I'd like like to know how you guys got started and what made you better beyond just practice (though I spent like 4 hours yesterday trying to make a good woodie for my park and couldn't get it near what I wanted).

Thanks to the people running and judging this competition, too. I've not even got a piece down, yet, but I'm already having a blast. I guess question 6 is going to be, will the next competition include Soaked? I intend to get it (I'm a waterpark fiend) at release, so it wouldn't be a problem for me, but I'm assuming there are some that won't get it.

1 I don't work with fireworks in my park, but I'm sure it will count.
2 If you win, a video of your park will be taken. So don't worry.
3 If I'm right it's 50-50. Correct me on this one.
4 I have no idea. but the sizes are shown in the attraction choice menu.
5You don't need to make a woodie for this park. But I always make a small plan in my head, pick the terrain I gonna use and start building. While building I always check the coaster to see if he makes it. You just have to practice with those coasters. trial & Error, you know. I suggest to use the coaster editor to practice it.

I know I don't NEED a woodie, but it's a western theme and it just feels... right. If only I made some that didn't suck. I'll just keep hammering away at it, thought. :-) Thanks for the reply

Here you can have many spotlights in the park, but only 3 overall shows. Each show can use many different firework launchers and can last for a long time, overlap, etc. The point tally for fireworks goes to the overall point award which can be worth up to 40 points.

2) I watched the video from the first competition and loved it. I am not good with the ASE yet either (I think renaming a peep D Lean is how you get to it) But some are good, and it does take practice as with all things to get better. Vodhin and Klinn have tutorials about them and are well worth reading. After you build your park, I would go the the trouble of playing with the video mode on your coasters. Also if you build an observation tower, you can use Coastercam there and pull the shot away from the preset and get a fun spinning view of your park...

3) I'm trying to pack as many rides as I can into the park, but I want it to look nice, too. How much of the judging is looks and how much are how your park runs? I'm more interested in making a cool looking park than winning, which is why I wanted to know about the spotlights.?
Vortexian is right 50% is subjective. The judges rate the park on a 1 to 10 scale and each point is worth 4 points towards your final score. I do have to point out that there is a corrolation between number of rides, excitement, peeps in the park, park rating and park value. Certainly having a great deal of rides pushes you towards those higher values. A park with six rides, even if beautiful may be stuck at getting a 10 subjective from all the judges, but losing in all other categories, while a park crammed with stuff may get 30 to 40 points from winning in the 8 categories, and then get a subjective socore of 7 which is 28 points and take the win...

4) As I'm at work and have a help desk job currently, I have a ton of downtime and have been mapping out basic ideas in Illustrator. Does anyone know of a FAQ listing the size of the rides? The only Gamefaqs faq is incomplete and appears to be abandoned. I'll probably jot the dimensions down tonight, but I'll probably start building coasters and forget again.?
The Prima guide lists how much each ride takes in squares. Sorry, I do not know of an online resource for this.

And finally:
5) I've looked and searched and can't find anything with the keywords I'm using, but when designing coasters, do you tend to develop section-by-section or do you go to a particular feature on the map and pop up an interesting combination, delete the connecting track and fill in the blanks? I am always surprised at doing something when building a coaster and I get offered a loop, or something special. I never can recreate it twice. But I know when I want one, I place different combinations of pieces until I do get it if I need it in a certain spot. I guee the only advice I can give here is experimentation.

Good Luck

Judging

Here is a layout of the what we need to judge for competitions 2 and 3. I think at this point in time the best way to do this will be to open this up to all of the current entrants...

Don't judge your own park

I shall provide in the next few posts links to each competitions parks so you can download them

Then you can fill out the judging sheet and email me your results. You can PM me, or you can post your results in a post and I shall compile it. Perhaps if we want we can start a seperate thread for the judging (chime in please)

Here is the form and a link to the excel form I use:
Park Name
Entrant
Judge

##
# of Peeps in park 10/31
Park Rating 10/31
FPS 10/31 (rename a peep "FPS")

$$
Cost of Park
Remaining $$ (100,000- Cost of Park)

$$
Cash 10/31
Profit 10/31 (This is current cash-Remaining $$ from above)
Park Value 10/31
Company Value 10/31

# Fireworks (3)

# Shops
# Food Stalls
# Drink Stalls
# Other
Total of (18)

# Janitors
# Mechanics
# Security
# Entertainers
Total of (18)

## Excitement
# Coasters (3)
# Junior (6)
# Thrill (12)
# Gentle (6)
# Other Rides (6)

Total Rides/Excitement
Average Excitement

Subjective Rating 1-10

http://rapidshare.de/files/2572839/SmallPark.xls.html

to use the form, or send me feedback, we of course need your name, and the park you are judging. Take the financial readings

Then run the park, you can do this at FF until 10/31. Rename a peep if you want to award the optional FPS award please... Then record the other numbers. Some like # of staff and stalls is to ensure the submitted park is within the guidelines.

In each of the categories of rides add the total of those rides 5 thrill rides of average excitement of 3 each means 15 excitement points on that line. This is a validation to ensure that the numbers I have are correct.

The judging is 5 points for first place, 4 for second, etc in these categories:

Least cost of Park
Most Peeps
Highest Park Rating
Greatest Profit
Highest park Value
Highest Company Value
Highest Total excitement
Highest average excitement

and then the subjective rating which is worth 4 to 40 points. Your score of 1 to 10, times 4 is the value...

Any questions, please ask.

This competition ends Saturday night at midnight.... I think the next one, which will be Generic as i recall will run for the entirety of July. After that, perhaps a park with all themes, and then some Soaked fun???

At this point I think I have 3 parks turned in...

Tonight I should be adding to the judging posts for the 3rd Competition...

If Bokkie does not enter, but becomes a judge we would be back to our panel of 3 judges, or does the community like to gave everyone also be able to judge provided they judge by the deadline?

My brother has a hockey tourney all weeked and we are going to a twins game then Valleyfair! (www.valleyfair.com) on monday! KoasterKid,

If we can get the final of Longhorn before you go on vacation, then that is in by the deadline (or submit what you have at that time, you never know...) But for judging the parks, I am thinking we will do the judigning for the 2nd and 3rd parks between now and July4th, so I hope that gives you enough time to come back and chime in. These take less than an hour to sift through I have found...

Tiki-I found one park there for this contest...

I know you have been out with Soaked while we had the judging for contest 2 and then all of contest 3. We have had some problems with getting the judges, so for those contests we will do this community judging...

Here at contest 4 Western, we can go back to the system we started with the first contest, unless the community chimes in and says that would like to all judge... (I think that might be a viable alternative...)

(I'm also having a little problem with your system right now, I couldn't figure out how to access it to see if there were more then one park uploaded right now... Just when I had the Nick's Video thing figured out, it goes down.... And I think we've lost Maddack's Spooky Park for ever...)

Okey first off I pmed you how to access the files ddwilkin and I talked to NicksVideo and his account got deleted. no more tycoon3d to use. Sorry but thats how things work

you can check to see if there are more parks by going to the main page (http://rct3.gatesofreach.com/downloads/) and clicking Parks & Scenarios...

and I'll check if there are more parks...

edit: There is still only 1 park uploaded there :-/

Good Work KoasterKid!!!

I am now going to work on the 3rd park entries for everyone's judging. Despite repeated attempts (In the forum, and with PM's) since we found out that the Nicksvideo site went down and that was where Maddack uploaded his entry, he has not responded to me with the entry. If I get it, I will add it to our entrants...

With KoasterKid, we have the following so far

MrPK1
Cafinated
DisneyFreak
and
Hardwood Ranch (Who claims ownership???)

KoasterKid23

Thanks MrPKI and Dwwilkin! Desert Monkey is the name of the racing coasters and the spinning mouse ride is called Bronco! I did manage to add a couple more rides, so I ended up with 15 if you count the racing coaster as two! :D

I had problems uploading my park though! It kept on saying that I used invalid characters, but I didn't! Should I just upload it to rapidshare real quick for you Dwwilkin? (the uploader I tried was the one posted by Tikitiki) Thanks! :D

Cool video KoasterKid! Bronco made me dizzy.:bulb::up:

I made a video of my large inverted coaster, The Crow. I don't know how well it will work cause it chops up really bad on my PC. Windows Media Player is weird. It might work for other people though. I'll release it if anyone wants to see it.

DWWilkin: I don't think this has been answered yet, but isn't Hardwood Ranch DisneyFreak's park? You said you had KoasterKid's (Longhorn Park), mine (Western Heartland), and DisneyFreak's (Hardwood Ranch?)

Tikitiki, I tried uploading the movie onto that site (I assume that's the original upload site for parks in this comp). If you renamed the file in a-z only and NO SPACES, it WOULD have worked...We can't do spaces because there is no way to transform the link to %20 else it will cut off and you will get an invalid link...

When I was listening to the music I wondered what memories of westerns it invoked. I know there is one that it is based on in the back of my mind, so I was thinking of the Magnificent Seven when I wrote my post. Which tune is it really?

Cool, I guess I can make movies even if they don't work that well on this computer. The music I used was just the Western theme music that's built in to the game. It's called Prarie Rider, I believe.

Today is the day. Please either post your park to Tiki's site,

Put it on the web and PM with the link.
Post the link here in the forum.
Or PM and ask for my email so I can give it to you and we can get your park file turned in.

(I'm sure there might be another way to submit your park, but 4 choices should be enough.)

For judges we have myself and RZCT3Phreak for sure, Bokkie, I beleive you said you might be able to judge?

So we will be able to go back to 3 judges...

By the first I shall have competition 5 up and ready...

DWWilkin
06-26-2005, 08:03 PM
Well just a few more hours... As for the next competition, I am thinking that not everyone will have soaked just yet... (Hey look for me as the Vendor at the Info booth in Scenario #6 ;) ) so I was thinking of just Generic, but my arm could be twisted to allowing the entire kitchen sink (all themes) from RCT3.

To my mind

We still have to do
Generic
Everything
Special's (the things that you can do with Jonwil's 3'd modeling importer...)
Non retro sci-fi... (Modern stuff...)

If July is for the next non-Soaked comp, perhaps August would be good for the first park with a soaked entry. Then we can explore the two soaked themes after that...

David

psychoticBunny
06-26-2005, 09:57 PM
If you do that DWwilkin what about all the folks with Soaked? Will we just not be allowed to enter or will it be a mix competition where entries from RCT3 and soaked be allowed?

vortexian
06-27-2005, 01:15 AM
I think yhe mixed competition can be quite difficult. Things like peep behaviour are changed. I suggest that you first ask who has got the expansion and who hasn't

DWWilkin
06-27-2005, 08:34 AM
If you have soaked you can still do everything you can do in RCT3. If you hold back from adding certain rides, stalls and the pools, it is still an RCT3 themed park.

MrPKI
06-27-2005, 08:41 AM
So we're okay as long as our park doesn't include Soaked rides, pools, paths, buildings, scenery, waterfalls, etc.? Or could we use some of Soaked's generic rides (giant frisbee, chaos, disko, etc.). That will be kinda hard to avoid, but I suppose it's possible.

It'll probably be like the last one where you are given a scenario with certain things unlocked so it will be the same for both RCT3 an soaked.

MrPKI
06-27-2005, 03:31 PM

06-29-2005, 10:46 PM
I feel Sick's park was down during the beta test. I do not know now if we were to do a scenario if this would be a problem. I expect we shall find out shortly...

If it is, I will uninstall Soaked for the competition, and then reinstall. That should then disperse the scenario file.

If this is a problem, we might eventually have to take a poll and see if everyone does have Soaked at some time.

(If you would be so kind, chime in if you have Soaked...)

Thanks

The results are in!

Some personal opinions about the parks (I hope you don't mind me revealing my thoughts before the winner is announced), which (more or less) reflected my points:

Caffinated:
 Great money management, nice runaway train and mine.
 Not much scenery, loops on a woodie are bad and many rides have no riders.

DisneyFreak:
 Two nice coasters and the mountains
 This is very bad... 300 people need the toilet! Noone is riding the rides (they are looking for toilets which are full).

KoasterKid:
 Fireworks show, many rides packed, impressive park rating.
 Many of the rides are empty, one train is in the lead most of the race, limited use of scenery.

MrPKI:
 Excellent use of scenery, most rides are pretty full, great roller coasters, cool bank robbery.
 The Charcoal express has too many (and long) trains.

Vortexian:
 mohican and lumberjack work together (especially at night), a few rides nicely inside buildings.
 the buildings are too big (contradiction I know), mediocre coasters, bad placement of stalls.

Remember now, peeps, that the other judges can see upon things differently

MrPKI
07-03-2005, 08:48 PM

1 Park rating (Higherst 5, Next 4, etc)
2 Peeps in park (Most 5, next 4
3 Highest company value (Highest 5
4 Highest total excitement (Highest 5
5 Highest average excitement(Highest 5
6 Greatest profit (Greatest 5
7 Lowest Cost of a park (Lowest amount spent = 5, next lowest amount 4, etc.
8 Highest Park $$ Value (highest 5

Then your subjective rating times 4 (1 to 10 rating times 4 for 4 to 40 points, so a possible of 4 to 80 points...)
