Hi All,
I just bought UT GOTY today cause my old cd was broke and installed it on my new machine, thing is, when I exit UT the music still plays for like a min which is kinda anoying. Also, if I try to go back into UT while its still playing after I exit the game will lockup and wont run. It happens every time no matter if I play single player or if I play online, once I exit UT the screen is all bright and then it flashes to normal but the sound keeps playing. If I ctrl alt delete the unrealtournament.exe is still running in proccesses and goes away after the sound finnaly quits. Never had this problem on my older machine (Win98se,PII 400mgh,ATI Rage 128).
My new system's secs are,
Windows XP Pro
P4 3.4ghz
Geforce FX 5200 256mb
Realtek AC'97 Audio
1 GB Ram
Direct X 9.0c
Anyone know a fix please reply,
Thanks,
Wolfy

Sounds like you're using Direct3D. This is normal with D3D.
If you switch to OpenGL, you'll find this problem goes away...

I recall having that problem with the sound carrying on after shutdown some time ago, it's a weird little bug. Before you do anything drastic, you may want to try shutting the game down from the upper right corner of the screen as opposed to doing the normal quit in the menu. Click the mimimize box in the upper right corner, and then click the X in the same location once the game minimizes, and shut down, see what shakes. I could never shut down on my old machine normally without that same problem, again, weird bug. The alternate shutdown above proved to fix my problem. Hope that helps you. If no dice, you may want to throw your PC out the window, kidding.........:haha:

mine does the same... not for very long, but about 10-30 secs... usually the bubbling goop sound!

Well minimizeing UT and then closeing it with the X works and kills the sound instantly, but for some reason UT kinda lags on my comp, itll take it like 15-20 sec for it to minimize... Its like the UnrealTournament.exe hangs and dosent completely shut down when the game closes for a few seconds cause if you hit ctrl alt delete and end task the UnrealTournament.exe the sound also stops..

That sort of relates to your system specs, not much you can do about it unless you buy a faster PC, not sure what you have, but I still close UT the same way on my new PC since I did it for years on my old machine, takes a few seconds on mine, but as I said, PC's will affect how fast/slow it minimizes. I used to wait more than a few seconds on my old PC for the screen to minimize, but look at it this way, it's better to wait a few seconds to minimize the screen than wait for a minute of music to stop playing:D Well, glad you made some progress. I don't think it will get any better unless you want to spend some bucks on a new machine. At least you killed that annoying sound, that's the main thing.

I have a P4 3.4ghz I think that should be fast enough to minimize UT dont ya think?
I donno wut the deal is, but it would be nice to fix the sound issue gets kinda anoying :(

everyone had opengl! its just not officially supported! but, try it! you'll be suprised!
go here (http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/), go to the bottom and download the newest version (utglr29). make a backup of your opengl.dll and install...
when you change you gfx driver (in game) it'll give you d3d or software, click the unsupported types, then opengl..
tadaa!
