View Full Version : Secret About Driver: Parallel lines?

I think that the secret they won't reveal about the game could very well be a 24 hour clock. They havent mensioned anything about that yet and it wouldn't make much sense not to have night and day.

Maybe so but i could've sworn i read it as confirmed somewhere??? I guess I just assumed??? It would'nt be that good of a surprise but a way it could be better twist is if at night theres more crimes, less people (except around clubs) and more police just patroling the area. Also if there's night specific crimes like breaking into stores, busting people out of jails, or people getting caught with hookers :D. I hope its a huge 2 player mode (OFFLINE) with all mini games and its own coop missions that include more than 20 missions and even a mulitiplayer arena with like 10 people in different areas like a police station, warehouse, a club, Jail, Central Park, and even Coney Island. It'll be simliar to 007 multiplayer games (splitscreen) and should also have Team deathmatch. :(:( I wish :(:(

I'm pretty sure the day does change, because they have had night and day since the first game, and now with no menus, if they want both times of day, they gotta make it change like in GTA. And I'm pretty sure thats not the secret they're hiding because that secret sucks, it doesn't change gameplay much except that you can't see much at night.

There is also another mission like that in Driver 2, you have to get to the docks in Havana, from an island.

Day and night would fit quite well, I mean without an actual starting menu, and no loading screens, they shouldat lease have time change around you.

matt__jon
09-16-2005, 10:24 AM
Yeah, it should be a given that with no menus other than for pausing the game, the time of day should change.

I personally think its snow that sticks to the ground

well, i remember they said something about being able to open every door in a car in driv3r. that never happened, along with everything else. maybe it involves you being able to use cars in many different ways than driving it, such as having passengers, loading stuff into the trunk, being a passenger...... maybe the whole car experience has been upgraded.

yeah, that is a stretch i guess, but it would be cool.

I would love snow that sticks to the ground. It would awesome to slide your car on the snow and ice.

Yeah, but we're all so excited about this feature. I personally think that if they make another driver game like this that it will be the best racing game of e3 or even game of the year. If they improve everything like street races, destruction derbies, and all the rest of the jobs, that will probably make the sequel the best, but right now we're all focusing on Parallel Lines. I will have to rent it before i ever decide to buy it. I hope that the game won't have too many glitches in the game.

Haha, yeah, your right. that would be great for a mission. hell, that would be great anytime. murder a gang member, stuff them in the trunk, drive back to that gang's headquarters and dump him on the porch! :haha: ahh geez, im getting to excited.

#1theman

that name Parallel Lines is deeply moving. Is denifty not parallel to the other driver game and it not's parallel to gta.
But maybe the secert is real world speed. Like in takes 60minutes to go 60miles if your going 60m/hr. That would change these type of games forever.

Maybe...just maybe...that by "Paralell Lines," and "Driver getting back to its roots," that the story runs parallel to the story in Driver 1! Tanner might even make an appearance!

wow. that is a beautiful theory cole. im gonna believe that till someone else comes up with something better. and it actually makes the whole jericho thing make sense. maybe the kid is jericho. he kinda does resemble him. he wheres the sunglasses, and his face looks like the jericho from driver 2. hmm..... great theory.;)

Cole
09-21-2005, 03:17 PM
Yeah, because if:

D1 was the 70's,
D2 was the 80's, and
D3 was the mid-90's (I think so, the cars are new, but not all that new, and there's laptops and cellphones, mid-90's).
DPL is 1978 - the start of the old character's careers and the end of DPL's new characters' careers. Who TK is, well...thats still up in the air.

Cole's theory makes a lot of sense because i think that driver 1 ended in new york, not sure though. If that is the case then it would make a perfect connenction. so Driver 4 could would be a continuation. WOW!!! that actually makes scense! Very good theory cole!

"Ladies and gentlemen, Tanner has left the building. The grizzled undercover cop who starred in the three previous Driver games won't be making an appearance in Reflections Interactive's newest entry in the series, Driver: Parallel Lines,"

http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/driving/driver4/preview_6132660.html
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I SAID THIS:THIS GAME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PREVIOUS DRIVER SERIES, NO SPECIAL APPEARANCES, FRESH START, RESET BUTTON PUSHED:sulk:
so please think of different secrets besides tanner or jericho or the other guys

Anonymous
09-22-2005, 09:10 PM
Yes i thoght about that too. But mayby They want to cover up the secret so it could really suprise everyone. The only reason we are suggestiong these secrets is because nothing elsr makes sense right now. what could they be possibly be hiding from us that is so big?

Anyways you are right about them stating that they have pushed the reset button. I guesse we will just have to wait to find out.

Driv3r_fool
09-22-2005, 10:05 PM
they only said that this driver will not follow the original story line any longer, it is a whole different game. they did not say that certain characters we already have knowlegde of will not appear. im sure tanner is gone forever (maybe we will see him in a few hidden easter eggs, but im convinced he is gone), but the jericho thing keeps me thinkin. im not saying it is him, but it still is a possibility. im about to pop driver 1 in the ol' PS2 right now, and play up to new york with cheats to check out the story line, and see if there is any characters or missions that could somehow make a subtle connection with what we know now. i dont plan to find anything because of the lack of information, but then i can refresh my mind on the new york portion of the game.

but yeah, like i said, i know this game has nothing to do with the first three, but that does not mean there cannot be a connection somewhere. if TK isn't jericho, i would not be surprised in the slightest.

all we can see in common right now is that driver 1 took place in the 70's and featured new york. but thats it. :)

The Empire State Building will have a switch hidden in the basement levels somewhere that, when activated, will blast off, and you will be able to fly the building to any cities from past Drivers.

ESB is in NY right? lol, I forget, I know one of these tall buildings is in Chicago, not sure which one. If it is in Chicago, then I'm probably thinking of the Chrysler building with those arches at the top. Whichever one has all those arches.

Cole
09-28-2005, 03:12 PM
In regards to any theory, including mine, to have it fit with official atari/reflections statements, well... just remember, this wouldn't be the first time atari/reflections have lied to us about what will be in the final game.

Driv3r_fool
09-28-2005, 04:19 PM
there is a Chrysler building in Detroit, but there is also one in New York. the Empire States Building is definetly in New York.

But then you walk out in the street, and get squished by a tank and die. The game will then be over. :(

^ha, gta sa, anyone? i hated those stupid missions. why does the girlfriend always want to go to night clubs on the other side of the friggin state?

i cant think of anymore secrets. maybe they will add variety to cars by making some of them hoopti ghetto rusted wrecks, and some of them pimped out with decals and neon. that would seriously add to the variety, if all the cars could have a possibility of about 80 different colors of paint, and different states of care (mud, rust, normal cars, dented cars, pimped out cars, slightly pimped cars)

oh, wouldnt it be cool to steal a shopping cart from a local grocery store, and be able to run and jump in it and ride down hills until you careen into a pole? ha, i seriously doubt that would happen, but seeing a man with a mullet in aviator glasses having fun with a cart is like a dream come true.

*end rant* :p

Its annoying to have to keep the meter up for the relationships, for the second girlfriend where you get the casino key i just killed her on the first date cause i was tired of that bull****. whoevers idea that was needs to be fired.

THe secret is there is none What can it be there is an lot of info that shows alot what else can they be hiding. TALKING THATS IT TALKING INTERACITVE HAVE THE HEADSTEATS AND TALK TO THE AI. now that would be cool..

Also i think it is GAS. That would chage the aspects and gameplay of the game becuase u just could gun it down the road. Or u well lose all your gas. Or u could get gas in an can and pour it over some ones car and when they come back and they open up the door BOOOM becuase the door created a sprike.

Whatever it is, it has to be something small and insignificant. If it's a gameplay feature, it would make no sense for them to keep it a secret- they'd be playing it up so much, (and once atari marketing gets wind of it, the whole world would know).

It's probably a plot twist or something, which they can't reveal without ruining the experience of the game.

Getaway Man
10-28-2005, 07:05 PM
Okay lets get this straight once and for all. I don't want to P.O anyone but WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A SECRET, IF THEY GIVE IT AWAY IN INFO ON THE GAME OR TOLD US?!
I mean really come on, I mean I was pissed when I found out that there was some sort of secret and they weren't tell us. What about tell the guys on this forum, you know the fans of the game. But then I got to thinking, what is the point of is being a secret if Reflections tells us, I for one am excited and can't wait to find out what it is. But think about that, if you found out the secret, and it had pretty much everything to do with the story line, how the game was going to react, wouldn't it kinda take away from the thrill of not knowing what it's going to be like for the first time playing the game if you already know about the game is already like?

matt__jon
10-29-2005, 03:26 PM
I don't really care, I'm with Cole, I doubt it really changes much.

They said its a secret that changes every aspect of the gameplay. Not even a flyable helicopter could do that, it would just be an addition to the gameplay. Its most possible that when being interviewed, whoever was talking about the game got a bit carried away.

But then again, something that could change all the gameplay is drugs, I doubt they would do that though.

john cena
11-01-2005, 03:47 PM
Or better yet the secret might be that some of the missions will be similar to this of driver, driver 2, and driv3r's. That would be awesome tailing bad guys, getting away from cops, and even pursuing cars. I think that it would be a great secret for the game. Or maybe the secret has something to do with Tanner like it tells you that tanner is alive and there should be like a sneak preview of Driver 5, which everyone would love to see.

Cole
11-03-2005, 02:24 PM
I posted this in the IGN article thread, but it really should be here-

From IGN:
Reflections tells us a major twist happens more than half-way through the game, altering the course of events substantially. But of course they won't tell us anything about it.

There it is, the secret of DPL. A plot twist, not gas stations, not flying buildings, or any of that crazy sh*t.

Then again, look at True Crime's plot twists...

matt__jon
11-03-2005, 10:44 PM
lol, never played it but I heard of zombies and dragons

Its much like the movie "From Dusk til Dawn" with George Clooney and the guy who directed Kill Bill, where the movie is about two serial killers trying to escape to Mexico, and halfway through the movie, when they get to Mexico, everyone turns to vampires, and the movie is ruined.

Yeah i agree. I mean why would they do this? It would just be a waste of time and the fans wouldn't be so impressed by something like that. I think that the secret will either have to do with tanner or perhaps cars. Just think about it for a second. If they said that there's going to be around 80% driving and 20% on-foot actions then they might be trying to hide something. It may have to do with on-foot or driving. Whatever it is, we won't know until we play the game.

I just read an interview of Gareth Edmondson on totalvideogames.com and I think that I know what the big secret is. I think that it's somewhere in the article on the 3rd page in the 5th paragraph where he says that the cars become part of your collection and there's no limit to how many you can have.

We never did find out where the cars went in driv3r, right? (I don't remember exactly since I haven't played driver in so long) What if TK is the one that helps deliever the cars? (Just a thought, don't flame me if I'm totally crazy with this idea)

Driv3r_fool

Crazy ideas can be good ideas, although I highly doubt he has anything to do with the delivery of those cars in Driv3r. I'm expecting the game to have connections with the older game's story, but not direct connections (such as Tanner meeting T.K.). Only slight connections that only a hardcore fan would notice.
