I had the chance to play a two Level-PS2 Demo-Version of the Game on the Games Convention 2005 in Leipzig/Germany.......
........and it wasn´t that good
It was shown on very crappy LCD-Display´s from Samsung (not build for Games....... ) , so the game looks much badder as it surely was on good Displays.
1.Level "Police-Station-Hall-Scene" :
Plays better then in "Enter the Matrix" , and looks better, too.
But the Move-Handling wasn´t so smooth and the Camera-Man must have consume some Drinks too much , because he doesn´t
shows the Action were it happens.
2.Level "Matrix-Snow-Scene" :
As Neo you have to fight Foe´s in a Chinese-Garden covered with Snow . Armed with a Katana and the Matrix-Powers you can slow down Time to rush through the Agents (?).
This Level doesn´t fit as good in the Matrix-Universe as the training with Morpheus in the Budokan.
For me , Shiny has to put waaaaayyyy more Powers into the Game , to proof , that they are worthy to make (another) Matrix-Game.
As an great Fan of the Movie-Trilogy , i was slightly disapointed about "Enter the Matrix" but i played it through like a man and nevermore.....
;)
...... I will watch the Produktion-Progress to the release in November with 2 Eyes open and when the Boys from Shiny will fix the Camera and the Playabillity , no one can hold me from buying it......there´s a little bit good in it.....i can see !:D

BTW: The Garden Level is a JAPANESE Garden not a Chinese Garden (you'll never find Samurai's and Katanas inside a chinese Garden)! ;)

i also played it on the GC....

And you are right with the grafik etc. BUT on the Information Table you could read that the game was just to 50% finished. i dont think so. Doesnt matter, the KungFu fighting was much better as at ETM. So if its is right that at the 21 August the Game was fixed 50% it will be a great game. I saw about 50 screenshots of the Game and the Pics for PC-Version are very sharp.

Daniel
PS: Release a DEMO!!!

PS: Release a DEMO!!! Speaking of Pics.....I'm a Graphic Artist and I tell you that some Screenshots often get a little...uh..let's call it "Make up" before they're sent to Magazines or plublished on a Website so Screenshots basically mean nothing to me and that's also why I won't hype a game unless I played it myself or A DEMO! If there's one thing ETM taught me then that you should never hype (or buy) a game you haven't played yet - or at least A DEMO (Hint @ Atari)! ;)
BTW: I guess you're german, right? ;)
PS: @ Atari -> Release a Demo, please! ;)

After seeing the new Trailer , i´m sure , that there might be good qualitys in the game , but as i see here , many people are handle the ATARI-given Informations with care , so they don´t will be disappointed by release !
When i played the GC ´05 - Demo , i was aware of the Work-in-progress-Status , but am i the only one who thinks , that a bad-looking-Demo is not the best Advertisement for a Game-Series , that had his downfall in the start ?
What i want for P.o.N. , is clear ( ....i posted it also in the right forum...;) ):
- Better graphics & better lookin´FX
- Better Sound-FX (more Movie-Sampled)
- An In-The-Movie-Feeling (to play as Neo is a good start)
- Better Bug-Fixing (= More Time 4 the playtesting , as i buyed E.t.M. as the PC-Version , it wasn´t running without the Patch who was released on the first Day , so i switched to the X-Box-Version....)
- No more half-breeded Driving-Sequences
- An smooth Engine-Technic without lags,slowdowns & tearing
- Perfect Pad-Controlls for my Character (The X-Box-Controlls of E.t.M. nearly broke my fingers..... )
I buyed "Enter the Matrix on the first Day , without consulting an Gaming-Magazine-Test or Internet-Review and i don´t had the Chance for a Test-Play..............this will never happen again ...;)
@ ATARI : if you are so sure about the Quality of the Game , please send a Test-Copy to ALL Gaming Magazines around the World before you release the Game , that will show the professionality of Yours .....

Yep right.
I think it a "bad" Demo is better than No Demo cause you got the opportunity to see a part of the game, not the quality is important in a demo. It es that you getting curious. "screw" the graphic, the bad look, take a look at the gameplay, just see the positiv things and belive it will be better...
I think a demo should not be a finished level or 2. A Demo can be very bad, also without some textures. I want see in wich direction (trend, course) the game goes..
cou know waht i mean=#?

Daniel

Understand what you mean , maybe i´m a little bit too hard with Demo-Versions since all the years of pumping my Money into the Gaming-Shops....
Everyone has different expectations on Preview-Versions.......and thats GREAT:) becouse only by that , the industrie can , if they are ready for konstructiv Critics , use the various answers & opinions for a better Game ....... ähhhhh i´m describing now the use of an Forum like that........omg:bulb:
I hope you get the Point , though!

Well there's always a line at the Beginning of most Demos: "This Demo does not represent the Quality of the final, polished Product!" ;)
However I think the Arguments for a Demo are definitely to show the Players that Atari / Shiny learned from their previous Mistakes (ETM), give the Player the possibility to try the new Controls (if the Players would decide that it's more difficult to handle Shiny could still change it) and to give the Players a fair chance to testdrive the new Game (which will probably hype the game even more if it's really finally "the One" that's worth of the Name Matrix)! ;)
So Atari, "Mark my words and mark them well" (to quote the Merovingian): Release a Demo! ;)
You don't risk anything but you'll probably win those Customers back you scared off with MxO
& EtM if the Game is truly "the One" this Time! ;)
