Apparently construction is going strong at Dubai Land (Dubai, UAE). If finished as planned, it will be more than TWICE the size of all of WDW!
check out this model:

Theres also a bit about it on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai_Land) , but unfortunately theres no pictures there. Its hard to turn up any sort of images with Google...

Looks pretty cool, but Disney will always reign supreme power over all theme parks in the world!!

Can't say that I believe in the word "Always." After all, don't forget that Walt got his inspiration from other parks, including Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. (Henry Ford Museum is about to open an exhibit showing the early designs from Disneyland, including photos of Walt at Greenfield Village while he was researching.)

i know its hard to believe, but the UAE has a much bigger investor base than disneyworld... ever seen pictures of the hotels there? they put the ritz to absolute shame.
I have to agree with you though--no matter how much money gets pumped in there, how many rides or parks or outlets, it still wont have the same nostalgia as disneyworld. i love WDW because it has that unifying theme (of actually living in the stories you remember hearing as a child). I think this thing will end up just being a gigantic Six Flags.
Disney has Mickey Mouse, a global icon. what does "dubailand" have? just gorgeous architecture, from what i've seen (actually, come to think of it, the park plans dont look as easily navigable as the Disney parks).

Well, if you think about it:
-Six Flags has minimal themeing, if any in some places.
-Six Flags is a gigantic chain of amusement parks.
No, I'm thinking Dubai Land will be a more expensive BuschGardens. It will probably be a very good theme park.

It has a Universal there is nothing Six Flaggies about Universal. Good theming, good atmosphere, great rides, reliables rides. Sure sounds like six flags.

So everything I saw is being built? You've got to be kidding me, that's the kind of place kids dream about! What really got me is Giants Land and Dinosaur Land. I wonder how they'll pull that off, animations galore no doubt.
How come there is such little information about Dubai land, on the main website there is hardly any construction shots or anything and it is suppose to be opening by 2010!
So who wants to buy me a ticket to Dubai ;)

No opening in 2010. Only the first phase like infrastructure is ready by 2010.
"Dubailand is being built in 4 phases, each of which will last for 5 years. The first phase of development, from 2005 to 2010, will include the development of initial roads and infrastructure. This will follow with concentrating on the unique leisure and entertainment products until its completed in 2020."

Watching that video I ended up shouting at my Laptop!
"Those Dinosaurs are too large and impractical, they cannot be built!"
"Stop using clips from Disney parks!"
"Don't you dare use Eden Project clips!"
"That was Bilge-Rat-Barges! How dare you!"
"That desert hotel is like a giant hobbiton!"
"Use one more Disney clip and I will kill you!"
"Rip off!"
"How dare you use a Kilimanjaro Safari clip!"
"That was Nemesis you *******!"
All they've done is taken bits from every Theme Park, Resort etc. and slammed them together. That guy at the beginning of the video seems to think he's some great visionary. I also don't think they quite understand how much this is going to cost, not even the combined moneys of all the oil in the world could pay for this, let's be honest. This is BIG! Even if they do have the money, there's no way all that will be finished by 2020, and, if it does get done eventually, by then it'll all be old technology!

Look at 3 minutes and 15 seconds on the video, are they going to have living dinosaurs there?!
Dubai is crazy with their investments, someday they will get bankrupt...

Well, that is one heck of a park I would say. It's almost as big as Dubai itself LOL.
I seriously don't know where Dubai get its money from. Yeah, from oil, but so many projects in such a short mount of time. Dubai is trying to make the number one tourist destination in the world. Why? Because they are running out oil and they think tourism will help their ecomony.

I just watched the vid and if this gets built there is so much I will want to do there. Like did you see that space hotel that was amazing and the dinosaurs world, what if it crushed someone. Anyway I hope most of it gets built because it is fantastic. however I do not like the idea of the area with all the monuments from arounds the world. Can they not leave one thing each country can be proud of, like fancy copying the eiffel tower.

I spotted more than fifteen amusement ripoffs, from Disney to Adventuredome! Still, it seems like it would be amazing. Everyone, quick, add this to your "100 Things To Do Before You Die" list! Cheers!

Well, this is easily beleiveable that dubai would try something like this, they're also trying to build the tallest building in the word.
There were a lot of music rip offs in that video, or maybe it was just one? I'm pretty sure that's the music from disney's atlantis:haha:.
I totally expected to hear this in that video:
"This is madness!" "THIS IS DUBAILAND!!!!":p

Can we please stop the whole 'rip off' arugement? They only used real footage as the park itself is far from finished yet. They wouldn't have used all CGI footage as that could've got boring, they even mixed real footage with CGI (dueling Impulse coaster). Do you blame them for coping park's other ideas? They know people like this and that, and if they build it, they'll get that kind of people to come.

Actually, the CN tower is the largest free standing structure, I don't think it is the tallest building.

O sorry its already higher than tapei 101, which is the tallest tower in the world.
