Yesterday, as some of you might know, i went alton towers (again), it started off brilliant, then it went pear shaped, then moldy pear shaped, then good, then we had to go.
We left the house at 8.25, got to alton towers at 8.45, because of my friends dads fast driving (80mph on a country lane, very scary), we were out side the entrance waiting to get our tickets for half an hour, it was about 2 degrees celcius, when we got in, because we were to tired to run, we went on spinball whizzer before the queues, brill ride, a walk on, then after we went to forbidden valley, went on nemesis twice, first time 5th row, 2nd time, front row, what a ride, make you feel very vulnerable, i thought i was going to kick the station, after that i went on air, then ripsaw twice, then this is were it got ugly, my friend, who i was sitting next to was sick twice, once nearly on me, whilst on the way to the toilet, we discovered that blade was broken down, after my mate had cleaned himself up, we went to rapids, only to our shock, we had found out that too was closed. Two of our favourite rides down, so instead we went on duel which was close, twice, i was bored after the second time, so we went to x sector, to go on enterprise and submission, i didnt feel ready for oblivion yet:( , also an unusual long queue for submission, half an hour, so after we went to ug land. Went on ug swingers, then corkscrew, and this is when it started to get bad, i was going to go on rita, so we queued up. 105 minutes in the queue, then they closed the ride because of bad technical difficulties, grrrrr. After we just went on blade which had reopened, twice, and went on nemesis again. Then We WENT. A good day overall really, just very agrovating.

I was there yesterday with the European Coaster Club (ECC). It was a busy day in the park, especially in the afternoon, and Rita did indeed suffer some down time.

The ECC Trip started with 45 mins on Nemesis before the park was open (got 7 rides in), and finished with over an hour on Rita after the park closed. Susan and I decided to try Rita (never having done it before) late morning. We tried Single Rider Queue, which was quicked than the main queue but still took 75 mins. Using the single rider queue again, we got 3 goes on Spinball Whizzer in 25 minutes...which was excellent given that the normal queue was 100 minutes for one ride!

In the afternoon everything was busy. The single rider queue on Nemesis which, in the morning had no queue, had a 25 minute queue in the afternoon. We were glad we rode loads in the morning.

Our day finished well...we had 30 minutes on Spinball Whizzer after the park closed (6.15 - 6.45pm) then rode Rita from 7pm to 8.15pm, in the dark, with all the lights off. It was that dark, after the launch you couldn't see anything at all, which was really amazing...totally dark! The ECC were the first ever group to ride Rita in the dark, and after we finished riding all the ride ops and engineers rode too, as it was their first chance to ride in the dark...they were like even bigger kids then we were!

I had a very special day...sorry your day was somewhat of a disappointment.

David.

You will have seen some of our group...there were about 100 of us on park on Saturday. Maybe it was me, although there is a good chance it wasn't due to the large numbers of club members in that area at that time.

Went to Drayton Manor Park yesterday and had exclusive riding on G-Force, the new Maurer Sohne X-car Coaster. Good fun, and very unusual.

If I want 7 rides on Raptor, i'd waste half my day.

I could of rode nemesis about 15 times in an hour before 11 if i wanted to, everyone goes on rita and spinball whizzer first. The best part of my day by far was going on nemesis front row, and only waiting 2 minutes to do so, man its amazing, far better than any other row, and they are amazing.

I rode Nemesis 5 times in 20 minutes using the single rider queue during the shared ECC / Hotel guests ride time, then rode air, then returned for two more Nemesis rides.

My record Nemesis session was back in March this year when I rode it between 1.30pm and 5pm and got in 46 goes using single rider queue!

Also got in about 18 goes on Rita on Saturday in our hour-long dark ride session after the park had closed. Superb in the dark...and well worth being in a coaster club for! (Sorry for rubbing it in smallprint...fortunately for us the mechanics fixed it just in time).

You are not allowed to stay on the train at Alton Towers (park rules).

Fortunately the SRQ entrance is adjacent to the ride exit, so you can dash around and often get back on the same train as you got off...which is like staying on, but with more exercise!

Last time I went to Alton Towers, it went pretty nice. We basically walked right on Rita and Oblivion, and my stupid self, not knowing Nemesis would be AMAZING, went on it last and waited for like 1-2 hours, and that ruined the rest of our day. We managed to get on Spinball, but still...
