Just thought I'd pass on some info. Visited Alton Towers yesterday and one of the staff told me that they were planning to retire The Corksrew next year. She also said that Black Hole has been removed from it's tent.
She mentioned that the last she had heard in terms of replacements was the rumoured Woodie extending from Ug Land into the valley???!
Not sure if any of the above is true, as I said, a member of staff told me. Depends how much Tussauds actually tell them I guess.:(

Black Hole has NOT been removed from the tent yet as it is for sale still. I think there would be alot of outrage if corkscrew were to retire.

If corkscrew would have gone, they would have done it when RITA was installed. It would have made much mroe sense

I'm very skeptical of these rumours. I can't see Alton Towers retheming a whole area round Corkscrew and not ripping it out at the same point if they plan to get rid of it. Another reason I doubt her is that Alton just paid to have the Corkscrew repainted, fitted with a new lift hill motor and fitted with new restraints. I can't see them tearing it out just yet. The Black Hole is still up for sale on the Interlink site here (http://www.interlink-lg.com/indexUsedRides.html) (RC29) so I'm pretty sure it hasn't been sold yet.
As for new rides, the rumour is that next year Toyland Tours is being rethemed as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Being as Toyland Tour is now closed and being worked on, I'd rate this rumour as fairly likely. The next new ride I suspect will be something where the Black Hole was, probably a flat ride or coaster. Last I heard of the Wooden Coaster, Alton Tower's had withdrawn the plans to address the residents noise concerns. Possibly 2008?

That is a certainty my freind, i went on saturday, and where toyland tours is, there is a big metal fence with a golden ticket sign, advertising the new ride.

I just hope that the ride diverts the queues from rita and spinball.
