Six Flags Bankrupt???

I heard from a friend that cedar fair have now bought over all of the six flags parks as the company that own six flags has gone broke.

I may be wrong but im not sure.

Your friend is a bit ahead on that one.

Six Flags is in terrible financial condition, but is not yet bankrupt. Some analysis I've seen indicates bankruptcy could happen around 2010, but the company should be able to manage until then. The company is up for sale, however, largely because of being pushed by a big shareholder who wants to take over the company and get rid of the top management. He can't quite do it, however, without activating the "poison pill," which would pretty much doom Six Flags, unless he manages to convince the board to allow him to make the purchase. The board responded by putting the company up for auction.

Cedar Fair is unlikely to buy all of Six Flags, but a recent interview with Cedar Fair management by a Toledo news source indicated that Cedar Fair is looking into it. It is more likely that Cedar Fair will buy some Six Flags parks, but not the whole chain.

I own stock in both Cedar Fair and Six Flags, so I'm keeping an eye on this whole thing!

Buy SFGADV and they will know how to run KK. KK is down over the weekend, probaly because of all the rain we've had in Jersey.

I'm hoping Cedar Fair doesn't buy any more SFI property. Just look at where Geauga Lake got them. The park was so far in over it's head CF is still trying to improve it. If they for some reason decide to get something like SFKK, SFEG, or SFA, the return on it would be so little it would be worthless to get them.

This would be an insanely bad business decision, that I hope CF has the smarts to avoid it.

Well, SFoT would not need much work, the rides are all in tip-top condition.

Guyss....Cedar Fair has bought NOTHING yet. This thread title is wrong and it should be changed. CF are THINKING!!!!JUST THINKING about buying SFI. In time, they may just buy something, but not yet.

As far as Geauga Lake is concerned, SFI screwed that up SO bad that CF is having a hard time getting it back in order. Being that is it only an hour from CP, they aren't going to build it up to rival their flagship park. I've been to the old SFWoA and GL and there are SIGNIFIGANT differences. Unless you've been there, I wouldn't critisize, unless your just a CF hater.

Who's a CF hater? If you're talking to me, then your wrong, because I'm pretty much a CF fanboy.

I know that SFWoA was in terrible shape when CF bought it. But thats the kind of parks that SFI would be selling, not flagship parks like SFoT or SFMM. SFWoA is more like what CF would be acquiring in SFEG or SFKK.
