hello, I have just found out that cedar point is building a new woodie for 2006 or 2007. There is no information on the name or theme of the ride. It is supposed to be near milenum force. Here is a quote from the website

"Deliveries are nothing new at Cedar Point.

The food arrives in big trucks, merchandise comes in constantly and even office supplies are brought to us in bulk.

We’ve been keeping a keen eye on deliveries in the past month or so.

Then, there was another “special” delivery.

We’ll preface the photo by asking this:

How much wood…

Would a woodchuck chuck…

If a woodchuck could chuck…

Wood.

Yes. Wood. Lots of it. And possibly more on the way.

And right next to the “something big and blue!”

Makes ya wonder, doesn’t it?"

here is a picture.

Haha, think again.

Monty Jasper mentioned on the construction tour for Dragster a few years ago that they will gradually replace all of the wood on Gemini and Mine Ride. I doubt it's anything more exciting than that.

I bet thats what the wood is for.

And saying that its next to something Big and Blue is just stating that its probably being placed in one of the lots next to Blue Streak.

"Something big and blue" they're referring to is the blue tarp in the Soak City lot that seems to be covering the parts for a screaming swing. The wood could be part of the structure for that for ride, or the aforementioned replacing of wood on Gemini or CCMR.

Its for rettracking, not for a new woodie. CCMR, Gemini, and Mean Streak needs some wood in some spots.

Dude, come on...they aren't gonna bring in wood NOW for a new woodie in 2006!!! That is totally retarded. I wish some people would think before posting.

They are building SOMETHING for 06, in Frontier Town, thats obvious, but what? We don't know yet. The blog on CP.com is trying to confuse us.

Big and blue = blue tarp covering the Screamin' Swing piece.

Screaming Swing =/= new woodie

One point that hasn't been addressed. Last season I saw wood in the middle of Gemini's footprint. Why would this wood be in the SC parking lot? It isn't like they don't have time to put it where it belongs. Also there is more than enough storeage back by mean streak. I wouldn't rule out a new woodie, then again I wouldn't get my hopes up either. Also why is it retarded for them to bring in new wood for a coaster, but not for retracking/structure repair?

the wood currently there looks like Mine Ride stuffby the stain, yet another popular theory is it's for the Screamin' Swing theming/control house/power boxes/etc.
There's stuff hidden all over the park though, when I was there on the 23rd, there was a huge pile of conduit pipes behind the Mine Ride.

Most of the time, however, the wood put onto Mine Ride is unstained, then gets stained after it is in place (often with a delay of a couple of weeks). So, it would be a change in their pattern to bring in a load of pre-stained wood for Mine Ride.

a lot of the stuff they replaced last year was never stained, you can still see it :P

Ok so if there wasn't something else going in place of WWL, why is Sky Hawk being placed where the frontier lift station is?

cause there's nothing going there THIS YEAR, who knows about 2007.

And your repiable source is?

Kinzel stated he wants to go out with a bang. He retires next year. Just look around at coasterbuzz and pointbuzz. Best bet is WWL will be empty next year to make way for something the year after.

And that should be reputable.

I wouldn't put it past them to not announce a secret ride. Anyone ask any of the workers at Cedar Point when dragster was being built what it was? They barely said there was construction going on let alone a future world record breaker. Also if he retires at the end of next year, would he want to go out with a big bang, during his last year, not the one following it?

lewis31lewis52

He would have the say of what gets built up to 2009, I think. Just because 2007 is his last year, doesn't mean that's his last ride.

But if you're doing something big, wouldn't you want to be around to enjoy it? Munger died before he got to see Magnum, which started under him according to Harpo, maybe Kinzel's worried about his health? :p

skyhawk is not going where the frontier lift station is, its going next to it in an open plot of land that was a dead end midway.

And then I guess the WWL spot will be replaced with future expansion. That's what it said on the On Point blog.

well, does anybody like the theory of either: a floorless, or a flying? (this is also unlikley, but wouldn't it be cool if they got a multidimension coaster by S&S arrow?

or mabe, they will wait abit and put in a dive machine. (SHRekA) or whatever its callled made a deal with b&m saying that no dive machines may be built in the us for another 5 years?

For the love of god, not multi-dimension coasters at Cedar Point. I am sick of new rides not working when I go there.

I don't want something revolutionary, just a new coaster. A dynamic new ride like every other coaster CP has built. With the exception of TTD, most of their coasters haven't destroyed any new records (MF was, but it wasn't a "new" type of coaster by 2000). Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, Gemini, MF... all great rides, but not something new to the market.

Actually, all those you mentioned were record-setters at their time. Gemini was world's tallest & fastest when it was built, as was Magnum and Millennium Force. Raptor was the tallest and fastest inverted coaster, with the most inversions, when it was build. Mantis was the tallest and fastest standing coaster with the largest loop when it was built.

They were all built on existing and proven technology, with the exception of the lift hill on Millennium Force. They just took the existing technology farther than any of their predecessors in order to set new records.
