I have seen these popping up everywhere. Dorney got one, Lake Compounce is getting a 32 passenger one, Vallyfair! getting a 40 passenger one, it's runmored that CP may get one to go with it's new woodie, it's also rumored that the reason Chaos at SFNE is gone is for one. Who is next to jump on the bandwagon, and what is so special about this ride? I have also heard a few other small parks investing in one. Do we have the next Skycoaster on our hands?

I said rumored, and the blog hinted at it.

I've been on the one at Knott's, and it is a lot of fun. Also, it doesn't take up much space, so it's easy for parks to fit it in somewhere.

Cedar Point isn't getting a woodie!!!!!!! Just because they get wood, doesn't mean they are building a woodie.
They ARE getting a Screaming Swing, thats almost without a doubt. If you don't believe me....

ok ok I believe you lol. I was just saying, IMO the blog hinted at it, and Robbin Innis on In the Loop 2 weeks ago said that they do have expansion plans.

Just to throw a wrench in the works...
Don't forget that S&S does do other things, and that they purchased Arrow Dynamics. I think White Water Landing was an Arrow design. (I know that Snake River Falls is an Arrow. I don't recall for certain about WWL, but I think it was an Arrow design.) S&S also hired some of the folks from now-defunct CCI, which created some great wood coasters.
Having said all that, I really don't expect a coaster for 2006, but figure there will be one for 2007. Therefore, a Screaming Swing is far more likely, unless S&S came up with something else that's not yet been seen and will be making its debut at Cedar Point. While that's always a possibility, problematic prototypes like S&S's VertiGo (which is now VertiGone, having perished in infancy) and Intamin's Top Thrill Dragster tend to make Cedar Point a bit nervous about new designs, hence pointing to the greater probability for a tested design, such as a Screaming Swing.

I'm going to be flamed for this, and I understand what you guys are saying, but S&S did indeed open a wooden coaster division with Denise Larrick from CCI. So what if what we are seeing is Wood + S&S stuff = S&S woodie?

^That's what I was thinking too, although like Harpo said, it could be a two year deal with S&S for the WWL site.

Well, the new, improved Industry Discussion section hasn't had a flame war, yet. Mighty dull without them, don't you think? :D
Personally, I don't think what you said is flame-worthy, especially since that wood coaster division of S&S is exactly what I was talking about in my previous post.
My only concern about an S&S woodie... I've been on one, and I thought it was lame. It just didn't seem to have the spunk or excitement that I expect from a CCI woodie, so it left me thinking that the true talent of CCI didn't go to S&S.

Well hell, I didn't know S&S had a woodie division.

All 4 of their woodies are great so far.
Avalanche (http://rcdb.com/id2588.htm)
Falken (http://rcdb.com/id2482.htm)
J2 (http://rcdb.com/id2586.htm)
and Timberhawk (http://rcdb.com/id1862.htm)

Well, the one I've been on is Timberhawk, and I found it to be relatively lifeless and dull. Now, don't get me wrong -- I enjoy all roller coasters. But, I found Timberhawk to be a very long ways from being a great coaster.

Alright, explain this then. Why would they have the top piece of a Screamin' Swing if they were building a woodie?
A S&S woodie with Screamin' Swing trains sounds pretty sweet, but I wouldn't plan on getting one. Or a woodie for that matter.

Personally, I would like to see CP get a GCI or Gravity Group wooden coaster.:)

And who cares if it's a new trend...The ride is awesome anyways. It's probably going to turn into the new Scrambler, EVERYONE has one. I bet it's going to be a classic.

First of all, the Screamin' Swing 'trains' are a hanging shuttle. The are like the Kamakazie vehicles. It would be impossible to ridg it as a train. Secondly, I have a feeling that it's some sort of long term deal with S&S as MrPKI said. Those are obviously Screamin' Swing parts in those boxes, because the only mechanical parts for wooden coasters are made by independant vendors, and it would be stupid for PTC to ship a train from Pennsylvania to Utah, just to have it ship back to Ohio. Maybe the wood is just for some retracking on Mean Streak. I would like to see a woodie go in, because I like it when a woodie goes in anywhere.

Unlikely, if they are at all. If they are investing in a Screamin' Swing, it would probibly be a break in price with a 2 ride deal. S&S builds more space-consious rides (note Falken) which would be better for WWL's lot.

I actualy really like Falken. Its not ur airtime filled mashine, but its what I exoect of a woodie. Good turns, steep drops and a flow like no other. Falken also shows that a record is not always needed to satisfy my needs at least. And the size of it speaks for itsself, small, but packs a punsh... PERFECT ADDITION. Not next year though... ;) Give CP a break...

I don't know how much of Falken you have seen, but if it's just pics, wait until you see the video. It's 50 mb, but the TPR Farup Sommorland video (http://www.elissaalvey.com/farupsommerland.zip) is pretty cool.

I hate that WWL is going. I am going to write a letter. I don't know to who, but I am writing one. I just hope that whatever goes in WWL's place doesn't suck and break down a lot. I hate TTD, well not hate it, more like loathe it when it isn't running. Iti s awesome when it works, but is a 420 foot reminder that maybe it wasn't the best move for CP. So in short, it better be a decent sized woodie, with airtime and no trims! that or a good custom floorless. yes, I know GL has one, but I want one in my park!

Well It's not goin to matter if you wright a letter... 'cuz' I hate to break it to ya'. There not going to remove TTD no matter how many hate letters they get from people. It was one of there biggest investments. Its not happening :bored:

write* :)
TTD isn't going anywhere. I'm like every other REAL CP entusiast, I hate when the Dragster is down, but you have to remember, we have 15 other coasters. Its not like the park is just empty because TTD isn't running. MF, Raptor, Maggy, Mantis... so many other rides to pick from, why be all down and pissed about TTD being down? Your at CP!! Be happy :)

Um....who said anything about TTD being removed? All I said was write a letter about the removal of WWL...

I know the SS top piece couldn't be used as a train. I was trying to make fun of your thought that CP is getting a woodie, but apparently I failed miserably and am now a failure at life.
Just get it into your head - CP is NOT getting a woodie. At least not according to whatever is on the SC parking lot.

There's a rumor that TTD is sinking and will be sold to....
Oh, wait. My mistake. That was the Magnum XL-200 rumor. Oops, now that I told you about that, I'm going to have to have all of you look into this neuralizer for 30 seconds:

I'd rather have a new log ride, but I am writing a letter about the restraints on Mantis. My ears were cauliflowered on that damned metal monstrosity.

Back on topic, Screaming Swings are great, theres one at my looacl park - Thorpe Park, UK.
You get a load of airtime, and, even if it does have a crappy name (Rush) its a very good ride, small area, and is very popular!:D
