In Final Destination 3 we could be a bit scared by the rollercoaster accident.. In Beverly Hills Cop 2 (i think it was 2) we are seeing some action in a themepark...
Does anybody know more movie titles wich involves themeparks/rollercoasters?

http://www.filmtotaal.nl/images/newscontent/finaldestination3/poster.jpg

I remember some parts (one with an old rollercoaster flying off the track because of a bomb or something), but maybe someone knows some titles.

The most obvious would be Rollercoaster. I just watched that one a couple of weeks ago. Apparently, a real coaster was partially destroyed for a scene in that movie. The park at which it was filmed (Ocean View Amusement Park) went out of business, and the movie makers were allowed to go destroying things for the film.

The movie also had scenes at Kings Dominion and Magic Mountain. At Magic Mountain, the evil one sets out to blow up Revolution. You'll have to watch the movie to see if he succeeds!

How could i missed that title?
Anyway.. After searching at IMDB it came op with two "Rollercoaster" movies. The first is what you mean from 1977, the other one is from 1999. I can't find more info than just a short story version (no trailers, image stilles).

The 1977 Rollercoaster is the one I was mentioning. I hadn't heard of the 1999 movie, which looks VERY different from the '77 film.

A preview of the '77 film can be found at Netflix, here: http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=917242&trkid=189530

Netflix also has a preview of the '99 film here: http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=60028813&trkid=189530

House on haunted hill featured the incredible hulk ride, but it was called something else, national lampoons vacation features a theme park called walley world, which is fictional i think. Also a mr bean episode features blackpool pleasure beach i think. The simpsons has itchy and scratchy land, diz-nee land, duff gardens and mount splashmore.

Good luck actually finding it anywhere in order to watch it, but here's a movie that was filmed at Cedar Point. The CEO of Cedar Fair is even supposed to show up in it:

yeah, they did edit it however. A little bit of the track comes loose, sends the car fying, and it goes onto another track, quite cheesy really. Although its made me desperatly want to ride it.:D

For Final Destination they used Corkscrew at Playland in Canada.
http://www.rcdb.com/ig319.htm?picture=2

Apparently they virtualy added some track to the ride. You can also see that on the layout on the controll panel of the first pic. The shown one clearly got 2 loops and 4 Corkscrews, the original corkscre lacks the loops and one set of corks.

They also rethemed the station so it fits the theme they wanted for the movie.
Obviously this wasnt done on the coaster ittself but in the studio.

Wally World is fictional, but the two coasters used were Colossus and Revolution from SFMM.

Ahh yes who could forget Rollercoaster from 77 back when PKD was just plain old KD....BTW the bomber gets his in the end courtesy of revolution & it aint pretty.

NLV was filmed at SFMM in 83,you should easily recognize collossus & revolution as the two coasters featured.

That film from 99 was called Thrill & was just a cheap made for tv take off of rollercoaster, needless to say it sucked big time & was filmed at SCBB on giant dipper.

It was actually Beverly Hills Cop 3.

Here are a couple more notable movie themepark/rollercoaster connections that come to mind right quick.

My Life has a scene with the dying Michael Keaton riding a roller coaster, after balking earlier in the movie.

Space Cowboys has a scene featuring Donald Sutherland testing a roller coaster.

Gee, how could I have forgotten that one??? I really like that movie! If I recall correctly, the coaster he's testing is Viper at Magic Mountain.

There's another one I should have thought about, but it just came to me. Mitch Albom wrote a book called "The Five People You Meet In Heaven." I haven't read the book, so I don't know much about it, but I understand it involves a person getting killed while working at an amusement park, then he goes to heaven and, I think, finds out what his life was about.

The book was made into a made-for-TV movie. I haven't seen the movie, either, but it's in my rental queue for Netflix, so I'll eventually be seeing it.

What I did see: the sets. It was filmed at Playland in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I was on one of my summer roller coaster trips when the movie was being filmed, and walked past the outdoor sets that were being used at Playland.

Another movie that contains an amusement park is Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The movie is about TV personality Chuck Barris, who hosted The Gong Show. Part of the film was shot in a backlot area of Knott's Berry Farm, with GhostRider clearly visible in the background.

yes, final destination three, slated to open in late spring early summer of 2006
so far it looks as if AJ will not be repsrising her role in the third film
too bad, cos she was much better at premonitions than the guy in the first film...look what happened to him....
it seems to me the best part of BOTH movies was the first 10-20 minutes of film
no story, no characterization, just a few odd bits, then complete carnage....
then an hour of "oh my god, what do we do" that happens in ALL horror movies, that inevetiably ends up getting them killed
PERSONALLY, if i were going to die on a roller coaster, i wouldn't want to do it on something called corkscrew
i would rather go out on something like millenium force, jumping 300 feet to death, or on kingda ka, can oyu see someone being ejected at the top of the top hat on that? OUCH

okay it's not a movie, but on TV, CSI:LV often shows coasters from the casino/resorts there, and you see Grissom ride a few in select episodes (it's how he unwinds).

Okay, how many films show the destruction of a real coaster as a plot point of the movie?

"Smokey and the Bandit" (could have been SatB 2) was filmed at a park in Atlanta, where the Bandit drove through the footprint of a wooden coaster and brought the whole thing tumbling down behind him. I believe the park was the closed Lakewood Fairgrounds. I'm not sure what the coaster's name was, but it was demolished for the movie.

Hmmm, maybe I should start watching that show. Sounds like Grissom's a man after my own heart! Riding roller coasters is my way of relieving stress -- I find it very relaxing.

I did some searching for you and there was a 3 Ninjas movie- "3 Ninjas:High Noon at Mega Mountain" and it was filmed in Six Flags Elitch Gardens. Had the Six Flags part right but the wrong park.

I remember in the opening credits of "Naked Gun:Files of Police Squad" where the camera is on the top of a squad car and it looks like the squad car is on a wooden coaster. That's the only one that comes to mind. Can't think of any others though.

There was an episode where The Brady Bunch visited Kings Island in 1972. The park's changed just a little bit since then. ;)

smallprint, somehow, you triggered my memory. There's a remarkably funny episode of Mr. Bean where he visits an amusement park. Falls asleep on the coaster. Because of that Mr. Bean episode, on my summer coaster trip to the U.K., I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the postal truck kiddy ride.

thre tack doesn't look anything like vekoma track, looks TOGO standup coaster track, and it is upside down for the length of the poster....which would be suspending the riders upside down....
not sure if that is possible
togo did a twisting dive on the manhattan express coaster at the new york new york hotel and casino in las vegas

basically the cars are put thorough a half barrel roll and then travel a few feet suspend before going through a half loop

An older yet very funny movie...Encino Man with Brendan Frashier, Sean Astin, and Pauly Shore. Not sure if I spelled the first one right. Anyway, towards the middle "Link" and "Stony" take a ride to "Mega Mountain" which is actually Six Flags Magic Mountain. They ride Viper a couple of types. That has the most distinguished first loop of any roller coaster, although Scream Machine at SF Great Adventure is close to that.

That's funny, I looked at Amazon and could only find a book. Anyway, thanks for the find!

Edit: Ah, I found out why I couldn't find it. I was looking for "Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind," and Amazon was showing it as "Close Encounters of the 4th Kind." Silly me!

Another Edit: That hint of using 4th instead of Fourth also led me to the movie's website. I knew they had one, but I couldn't find it, so I figured it disappeared forever. However, it still does exist, and is here: http://www.ce4kthemovie.com/index.html

If you look at the cast list, one of the cast members is Stacy Boals. She was instrumental in getting this movie to be the first film made at Cedar Point in the park's 134 year history. Why did she have such pull? Her father is Dick Kinzel, CEO of Cedar Fair! Sounds like the movie was popular enough that they're planning a sequel. The web site indicates that they hoped to start filming in September 2005. There's no update beyond that, however, so I don't know if they actually did start making the sequel, with the working title of "Close Encounters of the 4th Kind: The Cedar Point Incident."

I know its a kids movie, but Spy Kids 2 had a sceen at the beginning where they had to rescue the prez daughter from a fictual theme park. Some of the rides like extereme and fun. In fact, one of them (The last one: Juggler) looks like the new claw flat ride on WILD.
