When I first began playing MoO3 -- well, after I discovered this forum, 'cause the manual that came with the game left me cross-eyed with frustration -- I dived into Alexfrog's "Complete Race Customization . . ." thread stickied in this forum.

He launched it before 1.2.5 and then updated it. Compare this to Lore Weaver's race customization ideas which can be found in the in-game encyclopedia. Alexfrog's ideas were more thoughtful, more in-depth, more balanced and just better.

Now it occurs to me that if people adopt the racemod Poptoad has just posted (I expect those who try it will really like it), the whole race customization thing is now a blank slate.

Of course people will fill in the blanks as they work their way through all the complications of all the new decisions that must be made. But things aren't so cut and dried anymore.

I doubt few people would argue that Super Manufacturing -- all things being equal and if you can afford it -- is an awesome pick. But now it has been broken down into its elements, plus there are a ton of choices in other areas that influences this one. The end result is that you end up really designing a race, instead of modifying one out of the box. Of course, each race is hardwired for distinct characteristics that make it different from all the others. That's what you get to build on, or around.

It's fun to start from scratch.
