I don't know how much new info this is for everybody, but IGN's latest preview:

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/663/663645p1.html

is really good. Some interesting points:

-"The mini-games comprise stunt races, circuit races, destruction derby circuits, survival mini-games, and hitman contracts, just to name a few."

-"There are 80 drivable, unlicensed cars. You'll race in sports cars, hot rods, imports, trucks, 18-wheelers, motorcycles, busses, bulldozers, and tanks."

-"Major cities include Manhattan, Harlem, the Bronx, New Jersey, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Coney Island to name a few"

-"Reflections made a point about the game's improved artificial intelligence. The cops and enemies are far more advanced than in Driver 3, and the Felony System built around your actions functions much differently than in previous games in the franchise. When laws are broken, they can either be attached to the character or your car. Therefore, if you've stolen a car, and the felony is attached to your car, getting rid of it is of high priority. But if the felony is pinned on you, ditching the cops is the plan for the day. Like GTA, players can clean their car in a garage, or they can change cars, as long as it's out of the cops' sights."

-"Upgrades include ride/handling, engine performance, nitrous, and kick-ass non-visual components such as bullet-proof windshields, bull-proof tires, and more."

-"While much of the licensed music hasn't been confirmed, we heard early Jimi Hendrix (OK, he's a '60s guy), Blondie, and ELO to name a few."

Looking quite good. Can't wait for spring. :)

You forgot the most important part -

"Using a significantly upgraded engine from Driver 3, players will see as many as 200 characters and 80 vehicles on screen simultaneously, so the pickings are large and varied."
-Page 2

I really like the felonies attached to the car idea, there have been so many times in games where I accidently ran over the same person three times while doing a mission and have to deal with cops the entire time :(

I was going to put that one in there, but I figured everyone already knew that.

Awesome! The game sounds great, and has good licensed music to boot! I was completely disappointed with GTA's music in the past two titles.

I thought that GTA3's music was pretty bad(then again, most of it wasn't licensed). However, VC and SA both had soundtracks that, while not including my favorite songs, did a great job catching the atmosphere and feel of the games. I hope Driver 4 can do the same, instead of just loading the soundtrack with popular tunes.

That being said, I do hope they get some Floyd and Zeppelin.

Last time they told us about amounts of cars onscreen they said between 20 and 30, and now its somehow 80 with the addition of 200 pedestrians on top of that. They are talking about a PS2, right? I neeed to see some in game video before I get too hyped up.

Well the article I linked to was for the Xbox, I dunno if its different for the PS2.

EDIT: I just checked, and the PS2 preview wasn't any different, so...

I hope Reflections can pull it off, but I am doubtful.

Keep in mind thats under perfect conditions that you will see 80 cars on screen and 200 pedestrians. Probably also being emulated on a PC several times more powerful than a PS2.

Reflections tells us a major twist happens more than half-way through the game, altering the course of events substantially. But of course they won't tell us anything about it.

There it is, the secret of DPL. A plot twist, not gas stations, not flying buildings, or any of that crazy sh*t.

Then again, look at True Crime's plot twists...
