Hey folks. I just rolled out FS2 for my semi-annually run-through. The original campaign is kinda tired by now, since I've been through it several times now. Does anybody here have any favorite campaigns they'd be willing to upload, link, share, or otherwise let a fellow veteran in on? I just got done with one called "Warzone", which was quite good, but a little short. Looking for more action!

Actually I think you mean

Since the Derelict site (at one time) linked to here for the download.
I've encountered some dire form of MJ12 sabotague, however. All the files I attempt to download, using Getright or not, are dead. They come back with an "Unexpected end of archive" error. The file size looks right....
Meh!

How fortunate for you then that I archive every cool thing I ever come across in a borderline paranoid manner!

Several of the Freespace 2 campaigns on Freespace Watch are/were corrupted when I tried to get them a few years ago:
Aftermath
Allied Forces
Allied Worlds
Dantes Ascension
Hyper Crisis
League of Free Worlds
Odin Spear
The downloads would complete, but when you tried to unzip them, you would get some sort of "corrupt archive" message.

Anything by Blaise Russel has always been high quality:

Fall of Epsilon Pegasi and Shrouding the Light are both great campaigns that make wonderful use of the new SCP features. Blaise has also redone Derelict with new SCP features (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29593.0.html). He's also fixed alot of bugs from the original.
Some other good ones.
Aeos Affair (Hard as **** though) (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/aeosaffair/)
Deus Ex Machina (Comedy Campaign) (http://www.geocities.com/ipw47/dem.html)
Inferno (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,20.0.html)
Just Another Day 1 and 2 (Comedy Campaigns) (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,36767.0.html)
Transcend (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,34098.0.html)
Warzone (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/warzone/download.shtml)
The Campaigns Forum (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,89.0.html) @ HLP is another good place to go looking for campaigns of all types.

I was actually very disappointed with the SCP...
It starts with the fact that the mouse pointer moves ten times too slow in the menu and interface. It's literally painful to sit and roll the mouse over, and over, and over trying to set up my squad's weapons. The mouse sensitivity setting in Options doesn't fix this. If the thing would just my Windows mouse settings I'd be plenty happy.
Then you look at the fact that it takes over a minute to load a mission, where in retail FS2 I'm into the briefing in about 5 seconds. I may not have a cutting-edge machine anymore, but geez, that's a heck of a jump.
Once I finally got into a mission... Well, I was quite impressed with the first frame I saw. I loaded up the demo2 mission since it has a nice cross section of everything. So you jump in and you're looking at a Moloch and some beam fire.
The gamma was totally messed up, everything was bright and cartoony, but a quick trip to the options window fixed that (the gamma-adjustment indicator isn't calibrated anymore; the alternating boxes thing; if you adjust so that looks right, you get cartoony).
The flak is now gorgeous. But the laser impact effects look like they were taken straight out of Descent 3. Which works fine, given that game's scale and style, but does NOT look right in FS2. Then you've got the beams... The beams themselves look neat, but the shimmering halo with all the light flares around the beam emitter is really silly looking. I might buy non-rotating light flares, but... Oh, and the graphics for Maxim rounds are now like a single pixel. How the heck are you supposed to see who's firing and where they're shooting?
I gave the thing another chance and loaded up a different mission. That was even worse. A GTCv Deimos was heavily featured in that mission. While the new model is very pretty up close, at a distance it looks REALLY bad because all the lit areas turn into a solid wall of yellow rather than deck lights. The engine trails on ships are now also way too long, and it looks horrible when you have a ship doing a turn with a hundred-meter plume of plasma streaming straight out behind them.
So... Overall. Very disappointing. It's obvious that a lot of work went into upgrading various things, but the changes have destroyed FS2's original graphic integrity/continuity. It's like 10 different people each came up with cool ideas, without taking a look at the final product once assembled to see how well the seperate ideas meshed. And the load time is completely unacceptable.
