Fox Amusements - Council Bluffs Iowa
Miller's Hollow now available. If it lags don't say I didn't warn you!!!
KiDFoX's Miller's Hollow (http://www.kidfox.net/public/kfmh.zip)
It works for me, I can operate Miller's Hollow at full capacity up 3000 happy peeps and it generates a ton of cash but it does lag even on my system, sometimes badly. In the zip is the park file and a folder called millers, this has all the images for the billboards. It should work to unzip both the image folder and the park file into your parks folder. I am hoping that by doing this all the billboards willwork for you. If you put the images anywhere where else other than leaving them in the millers folder and putting that folder in your parks folder they will more than likely not work.
Buccaneer Harbour Available: As noted on page 5 there are differnt versions so that you can decide which one you want based on your computer performance.

It's about 64x16 11 floors of rooms 188 rooms total. There is still a little more to do like add a pool and finish the meeting rooms.

How long did take you to make this buildings?
KiDFoX
11-13-2005, 12:03 PM
I think it took about 4 hours. The design makes it possible to use some tricks such as both towers are identical so I only need to build one then save it. There were a few other tricks using custom structures that make it faster to build something that big. If I have time later I will show you.

I will get more shots of this tonight when I get back home. I have a few things to finish up and the hotel will be complete. I don't show my parks until they are almost finished so that is why I am just showing you the resort hotel right now. It is darn near complete.
AceHawkX: This project spans two maps one has the theme park one has the hotel and the indoor water park. It will take some time to complete but I find I have to build some of the structures and themed areas before coasters so things fit in proportion.

Ok let me get this straight
4 hours,
64x16
188 rooms
And it works like a hotel, you can go inside and its like a hotel.
I wish i could build like you :(
DrMontigo
11-13-2005, 05:22 PM
4 hours, 188 rooms.
That's about 20 rooms a minute.
That's one room every 3 seconds.
Ow!
/edit
Wait a sec... my maths have let me down again. :(
It's 47 rooms an hour - which is one every 76 seconds.
/edit
You build fast and well at the same time; a real talent you got there!

Thanks for the comments everyone.
The rooms themselves are just rooms. Lack of good scenery for a hotel room doesn't leave much to do with them other than place the walls.
So here is how I got it done so fast.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh14.jpg
Build the floors separate save them as a custom structure and place them later.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh15.jpg
The end walls are 1/2 as long as the sides so I built the ends and to build the sides I just had to place one by the other.
Once those things are in place I just needed to add the decoration to complete one tower and save it then place it to get the second tower.
Here are the exciting hallways outside the guest rooms
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh9.jpg
After that I just need to add connecting corridors between them and things like the new pool.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh10.jpg

http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh12.jpg
Another exterior view
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh13.jpg
The lobby and entry to the grand ballroom.
I think unless more content comes out that can improve it this is basically done. I may add a theatre to the hotel complex later but hat would be the only thing left to do.

One thing that you could have also done was even put that floor you have there and place it at every level...unless you did that or you can't do that...I don't save buildings that often so I don't know.

1 question bout that restort, how did you do the slanted walls?
KiDFoX
11-14-2005, 03:32 PM
I think that is the diagonal wall from the Sultan's Palace. It is standard RCT3 scenery. Almost everything on the exterior of the building is standard RCT3 scenery.
j2cCreations: That is what I did :)

11-14-2005, 03:36 PM
can you actually get to that pool cuz as far as i no its impossible to save paths on structures
KiDFoX
11-14-2005, 04:12 PM
If I were to save the entire complex I could save the scnery with the pool and you would have to replace the path but there is a path up to the pool.

11-14-2005, 05:03 PM
what are the wall peices between the full glass walls?
KiDFoX
11-14-2005, 05:12 PM
Slate walls, walls from the sultan's palace sets and Klinn's recolorable wall from his Frameworks.
The only custom scenery is Klinn's wall, Pumper's lightning wall, Pumper's 1/4 cube from his Blox set and Shy guy’s cornice and corner trim pieces.

No I don't mind. Fair warning that buildings this big and with that much "glass" on them tend to lag your park. That is why the hotel is next to the water park not the theme park.

I am taking a slight risk because I try not to post about my parks on here until things are darn near finished. I think I will finish the theme park portion of this project this weekend.
The risk is that I may not get done and since I use Pumper’s Blox custom set and he has not had time to update them for Wild yet I probably will not put a download link up. If he has still not had time to do them by the time the water park phase is done I may have to consider replacing things that use Blox with other scenery.
Ok so enough bloviating on with the update. I posted some of these before in a different thread but here it is again.
The first rule of Fox Amusements new projects is you do not talk about the new projects!
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh36.jpg
With the success we have had with keeping the attractions in our new park secret it was surprising when a strange vehicle showed up in the parking lot at the park one morning.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh37.jpg
Our head janitor called out the park police to investigate the situation.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh38.jpg
Looks like the competition is here to try and find out what we are doing. No one ever said they were subtle... Maybe Mr. Six just wants to dance in our parking lot?
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh26.jpg
The park police got things under control before any damage could be done to our image or profits the bus was quickly turned around and sent down the road to St. Louis. Just in time too as Maple's our new family restaurant was set to open that morning!
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh29.jpg
So here is what Mr. Six did see... The entrance to Miller's Hollow!
And a sneak peek at what he didn't see...
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh23.jpg
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh34.jpg
Looks like a few coasters in the park...
And lastly...
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh40.jpg
We thought the pass gate was finished and ready for final landscaping until we noticed the sign shop had made a slight error.
After scheduling the entire graphics department for drug testing the problem was corrected. We are waiting for the results of the tests...

Well, it's a definite WOW. Oh yeah. Great job with those supports. I can't wait to see how the other coasters look. What piece did you use for the angled decorative roof supports on the tower of the building? The stone walls look great with the scenery too.
Thanks again for sharing.
PS - my ONLY critique of this marvelous place - the metal truss that's embedded in the concrete columns would be totally rusted if they're set in the water. steel/water - hmmm, not good. But, hey, if this were real life - we'd have much better custom scenery :)
See ya!

That is the stall cover from Pumper's Blox.
I love that stone wall it works for so many differnt things.
That steel support is just trim to break up the solid color. I would guess in an actuall application you migh have that patern poured into the concrete.

Well this will teach me not to post before I am done with the park.
I am running into serious issues that I thought were with Wild! But I now strongly suspect a custom scenery set is stressing the game engine leading to stop errors on my video drivers.
I have tried various versions of the drivers backing up to older versions etc. with no success but removing some of the scenery is resulting in better performance so I think that is what I will have to do.
This is not what I wanted to do and if it solves the problem it will not be news anyone will like hearing since it is a very popular set that seems to be causing the problem.
I tried removing the set totally and had none of the serious lag I had been getting in the park. Once I get all the scenery removed I can test this more extensively to make sure the stop errors do not come back and I can bring my drivers back up to date and test again.
This means the park progress is at a total standstill until I can solve this problem. I think it turns not to be the scenery I will continue this conversation in the custom scenery forum.
The park will be finished I am just having to find other ways of doing a few things as this scenery is removed so it will not be this weekend, could be next if this doesn't take too long.

12-04-2005, 01:53 PM
Hmmmm, I've been having a similar problem this past week or so with stop errors KiDFoX, and this is a brand new machine with up-to-date cards. I wonder if it's the same pack that's causing the problem? Although I haven't posted screens here, my park is also fairly large and extensively uses custom pieces. It doen't happen every time I play, but has occured several times, usually while I was either trying to remove a piece or adjust something near it...

Hi again,
Just wanted to say I will post what set I think it is when I have tested things enough to be sure that it is just one set. Once I can verify that there are no problems without the set in the park I can let you know.
I just don't want to start any misinformation around the forums about this problem and once I am pretty sure of what it is there may be a solution that the custom scenery creators can come up with so that is why I will take the discussion to the appropriate forum.

Well some might think so but do a google on that and you will find far more refferences to counties in California than you will to Iowa. Yes we have a meth problem here but there is not agreed upon meth capital of the world but I think if there were it would not be in Iowa.

I don't really want to bump this thread with this but if anyone else is seeing similar problems with blue screens or stop erorrs can you check this thread (http://ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=505141) and if you could either PM me or email me off my web page with any info that would be great. I would rather not discuss theories about user created sets on the forums but rather in private until we know what is going on. Thanks!

The scenery you might be having prbolems with is Pumpers Blox set. It is not yet Wild compatible, I don't think. I tried to use it and crashed to desktop immediately.

After a lot of redesigning I have taken care of the problem with custom scenery. Several areas of the park had to be rebuilt but it is now about 98% complete again and seems to be running normally with 2200 peeps.

I don't mind I got the name form a Riverview Park in Iowa that was closed in 1978. I also noticed just now that I have been spelling Buccaneer Harbour as Buccaneer Harbor. I got the name off the Tampa Bay Buccanneer’s website and they spell it Harbour like you did. Never noticed that till just now.
Wow, just stunning. The mixture of walls types works so well! I love how the windows on the inside tranform to be something totally different on the outside. Great work!
Actually the windows you see inside do not transform to something different outside. Only the front has the themed faced and those large windows are on the sides and back of the main structure which is just plain walls. I don’t think I will do anything different with the sides or back but the front certainly was intended to be themed like a harbor.
Nothing left to do but small details now and mess with the fireworks show. The water park/hotel/resort complex and the theme park are basically finished. And thank God really I am ready to do some smaller projects for awhile thes massive theme parks are hard to finish!

Soda: The Buccaneer Harbor file is much smaller than the Miller's Hollow file. The only thing that might slow it down is the amount of scenery on the hotel when the camera faces that direction it does lag a bit on my PC.

It won't be long now until the few the brave the ones with powerful PCs can try this park out. Now that Jonwil has updated Pumper's Blox I jut need a tweak here and there and it is done! Thanks for the comments and questions makes it worth the time to post here.
To answer Coaster_Phantom and Magnum:
Inspiration comes from a number of places. Some of the things are pure imagination like the Twist and Shout station and the station in the picture above for Hawk. The building in the last picture of my previous post is my creation although the idea of the cantilevered room is loosely based on the Infinity room at the House on the Rock. The idea to build it came form a suggestion someone posted in the Rock Ridge scenario thread to create an infinity room like they had at the House on the Rock so that inspiration came form a user on the forums.
About the supports on that building, those are Jacat's Steelworks. Just like in the picture above I have really started to like using them as structural elements for buildings and not just coasters. I used that set extensively on Miller's Hollow for the coasters and for structural and decorative elements on buildings.

Thanks for the comments:
Soda Jerk 205: Yes this is on two park files it would have been near impossible to do on one and the lag would have been horrendous even on my system. I get about 12-16fps daytime with around 2600 peeps in Millers Hollow. I haven't tested Buccaneer Harbor yet.
Justin556: I am not quite ready to post it for download. I want to test everything and I am being very picky with this project and I know there are still some custom stalls that need to be renamed and little things like that to do but I am hoping to have both files done and up for download this weekend sometime. If I get too busy with life this weekend I am very sure it will be no later than next weekend. I need to test Buccaneer Harbor for profitability and staffing to keep things clean and running with high ratings. I also have a lot of stalls to place in the hotel still but that should go fast.
The hard part is done it is just the details now.
On to screen shots!
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/firstpark.jpg
I decided to blow all of Miller's Hollow away and I built this instead...
Just kidding! Actually that is my frist sandbox park in RCT3 the notorious Kamp KiDFoX before any of the renovations started. Why did I post that here?
Two reasons:
First to show my "skills" when I started and second...
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/tecmouse.jpg
This little event ride was a real disaster, literally. I called it Tectonics it was supposed to be a wild mouse in a danger canyon sort of thing but the problem was it had an intensity rating of about 15 and an excitement of around 25 I think. In short it would have killed anyone who rode it and peeps avoided it like the plague.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh84.jpg
I have done a lot of renovation on that first park and when I built the new entrance I removed Tectonics even though it had gotten trams instead of a wild mouse and actually worked much better. I changed the name of that park to Highland Lakes and planned to use Kamp KiDFoX as the name for my family zones in my parks. This is the first park that I did that in.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh84.jpg
I group some gentle and family rides together in this area and try to theme it sort of like a summer camp.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh85.jpg
So since this was the first use of the New Kamp KiDFoX concept I brought back Tectonics. Before I removed it I had saved the tram and scenery. The ride events are still in the same place they were in my first sandbox park the only thing I did here was improve the landscapes and theming for the ride.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh86.jpg
Wild's billboards make it possible to do this ride the way I wanted to in the first place.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh87.jpg
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh88.jpg
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/mh89.jpg
Since this is a very low intensity ride I thought it worked well in a family zone.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/mh/map.jpg
And the last one for now is a view of the entire park with the different areas labeled.

Opening day at Buccaneer Harbour was a resounding success.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh41.jpg
The East Coaster Club seemed to enjoy Buccaneer Harbour and stopped on the foot bridge entrance over the lazy river for a photo.

The West Coaster Club seemed to like wandering about the park and liked the hotel.

http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh44.jpg

This building took on a life of its own. Months ago the plan was to just have a control room for the laser show but later on it seemed that is not how Fox Amusements would handle it so the plan was revised to have the park information offices and some administration in the building as well as a full snack bar with an observation deck.
http://www.kidfox.net/fai/images/bh/bh48.jpg
Buccaneer Harbour was a great success because it makes money for the park chain. In fact compared to what I expected it makes a lot of money. The park makes almost as much as a theme park so as a year round indoor resort it would be a great addition.
I think I may have Buccaneer Harbour up for download later today. After testing I will for sure have two versions up and maybe even three. The hotel has a lot of scenery on it resulting in some performance hits that might be too much for less powerful computers so I saved a version without the hotel on a smaller map. If I do a third version it will be just Buccaneer Harbour and not even have the laser show grounds.
I think while closed anyone can open the file and look around the park but if you wanted to actually play the park you might want to consider one of the smaller versions if you have a less powerful PC.
More shots later!

Here is an overview of the entire map for Buccaneer Harbor. 1/4 of this map is easily under a roof. Correct me if I am wrong but this may be the first full size indoor park of any type on the forums and likely the largest structures anyone has ever done in RCT3. I first posted this thread back in November of 2005 but I started the water park in August. I didn't post any screens of this park until the hotel was complete. Special thanks to all the scenery creators because I think I used something form almost everyone for either this park or Miller's Hollow or both and thanks to Jonwil for fixing some of the scenery for Wild so that I could finish these parks and get them ready for download. Also a note of thanks to Larry241 for some help proofing the logo for Buccaneer Harbour.
Before downloading check the list below for all RCT3 Expansions and custom scenery necessary for Buccaneer Harbour and Miller's Hollow.
Needed for Miller’s Hollow and Buccaneer Harbour:
RCT3 Soaked!
RCT3 Wild!
Custom Scenery:
Shyguy’s mainstreet pack.
Klinn’s Electroshock set
Klinn’s Frameworks
Pumper’s Steelworks
Pumper’s Darkride set
Pumper’s Blox
Marnetmar’s Letftovers
iceatcs Timberframe set
iceatcs Slide Supports
iceatcs Brand Name logos
Battor77 speakers pack
Stuk71 hanger51
Lulujarre America pack
Lulujarre Rockn Rollercoaster pack
Each version will have the JPG for the park sign in the zip you can add this image to your Wild Billboard folder if you want to use the sign.
Buccaneer Harbour Version 3 Water Park Only (http://www.kidfox.net/public/kfbh3.zip)
This file contains a version with just Buccaneer Harbour Indoor water park. The Trails West Hotel and the Laser show grounds have been removed and the map shrunk to 80X70 to improve performance for slower PCs.
Buccaneer Harbour Version 2 Water Park and Laser Show grounds (http://www.kidfox.net/public/KFBH2.zip)
This version contains the the indoor water park and the Laser Show grounds with information building. There is no mixmaster show with this file. First off I am not good at mixmaster shows and secondly the amount of scenery on Buccaneer Harbor plus a complex mismaster show would kill FPS at night.
Buccaneer Harbour Version Water Park, Trails West Hotel and Laser Show grounds (http://www.kidfox.net/public/BH.zip)
This is the full park file with everything in it. It runs very well for me with the park closed and I can run it comfortably with up to 2000 peeps in the park but slower machines might have a challenge running it open since as you can see from the map above it is very scenery intensive. There is very small mixmaster show in this file. It is not a complete show it is just an opening that lasts a few seconds. I will eventually get a longer show but since I am not very good or very fast at mixmaster show I didn't want to wait to complete that to put the files online.

Depending on which one you downloaded I might have had both the .dat and .bak file with a .jpg image file. The .dat file is the park file just put it in your C:\My Documents\RCT\Parks folder. You really don't need the .bak file but it can go in the parks folder as well if you want, it is just a backup of the .dat file.
You can put the jpg in hyour RCT/billboards folder so you can set the sign on the park. That is really all there is to it. .dat file in the Parks folder, .jpg in billboards.

Kidfox Is The Park Ready For Dwonload Yet I Am Now Ready For Park Download
Is that all you say? Most of your posts ask if you can download the park now, and is it ready yet! There is a quick answer to your repetitive questions:
When the park is ready to download the creator will tell us, just like they do with all their other parks.
Will you give it a rest please?
Anyways, Kidfox I am a big fan of your work, so of coarse I had to download this! Even though it ran fine on my laptop, there were times when it slowed down, apart from this I loved looking around it. I loved scrolling though the Harbour, nice attention to detail.

I will try to get better angles on these images so I can do a better combined map but this gives an idea of how these two parks fit together.
Justin556: Miller's Hollow "should" be ready this weekend. There are small things left to do and I just won't have time until possibly Friday to get to them. It is basically done just a few small details I want finished before I put it online like having the on ride photo both displaying pictures of peeps on that ride.
I have come this far trying to nit pick every detail I can remember so I don't want to short change it at the end.
live_the_thrill: I think it is just the amount of scenery in the park that slows it down at times and it depends on which angle the camera is at. If you downloaded the full park then even more so with the hotel it even lags my computer some. I thought it was an acceptable amount of lag though for the effect.
OK so fair warning on Miller's Hollow. The park is huge and full of scenery and as much as I love it I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't hard t run on a lot of computers. I can do pretty well with it when it is empty which if you just want to look around is probably the way to go. Now my computer runs that park with darn near 3000 peeps in it but it is slow. I get 15fps empty on the perimeter of the park and about 10 on the center empty with 3000 peeps we are talking 1 to 5pfs at best on this computer. That is one of the reasons I am going to do a lot of smaller projects for awhile, I would like more people to be able to enjoy them.
I love the full blown parks that is why I make them but I know not everyone can run them.

Well I think I have this park as far as I am going to try to take it for now. I have no idea what to tell you to expect with this one there is so much in it and a lot of custom scenery, please check the list earlier in this thread.
As a result you may, and likely will, experience degrees of lag from moderate to Oh My God! So you have been warned. On my system it is very nasty when looking at the center of the park but not bad at all on the edges. Also on my system it ran significantly better in sandbox than it did building it in scenario editor. I ran the park with over 3000 peeps in it and it only crashed once but that was due to my sound card drivers not the park.
The experiment I am trying is placing all the jpgs for the billboards in a folder in the parks file. I made a folder called millers and I put all the billboard images in there. If you download the park unzip the park file and the millers folder into your parks folder. When you open the park hopefully all the billboards will be working.
This is the LAST huge mega park I am doing for some time.
Please check out my scenarios if you hate me because my parks never run on your computer and look for some mini parks and small projects for the next few months. I have a new big park in planning but there is no way I am starting that for a few months I want to do some smaller things and scenarios for awhile.
Just hit me if this park crashes or doesn't work.
I need a vacation....

Hi there, KiDFoX...
I have downloaded most of your parks (Buccaneer Harbour, Shoreview, Surf City, Expedition Pointe and a few more). They tend to be a bit laggy, but I think they are still well worth to download (some of my own parks can be a bit slow too...). Quality work is always appreciated, and KiDFoX is a trademark for Grade A Quality.
I'm really looking forward to your Scenario Pack...
