..which was a MAJOR dissapointment how can atari even think about releasing this? specially when the gfx look the same as Driver3? I don't mind much about gfx as long as it plays well but with the same engine the game stinks too much of driver3, I won't buy it.

I dont really see a problem with the graphics, but this game isnt due till a few months.

I said I don't mind about gfx, it's just the game looks.. looks like driver3 and THAT IS a very bad thing, specially after the amazing failure driver3 was. I played driver1&2 and those were far better than driver3, and I particularly didn't like the fact that they fooled everyone, they made us think driver3 for PC was an improved version and a good game, I had big expectations and I thought the game would be Mafia like.. so wrong I was..

D3 had really good graphics, whats wrong with looking like it? And so far, this games graphics looks worse. They also look more cartoony. The engine has been upgraded. All they need to do is fix the gameplay

Agreed, it wasn't the graphics, but the gameplay and glitches that caused it to be a failure. thoguh i don't see anyhting wrong with the game at all! Can't wait for PL!

Do you know how to read? THAT'S what I said.
I care about the game looks, and D3 looked buggy as hell, dumb A.I, controls, everything on it was crap or else it wouldn't get the score gamespot gave to it, what I'm saying is that ppl will automatically remember D3 when they look at this one and won't buy it;) I know I won't..

Personally, I thought that Driv3r deserved at the very least a 7.5. Everytime I look at reviews all I see are people mentioning how it'll never amount to GTA instead of giving an accurate review. Gamespot could've at least given the graphics an 8 instead of a 6 though.

To original post: So if you mess up once, don't try again? Great advice.
I think the graphics in D4 are looking better than D3, and D3's were pretty good to begin with. As long as the glitches and bugs are resolved, I'm sure D4 will look great. And besides, graphics aren't everything- if D4 gets the gameplay right, it will be a much better game than D3.

Driver 1- excellent graphics at the time, great gameplay and story sucked me in. Definitely a keeper!
Driver 2- not so good of graphics and some glitching/framerate slowdown (glitching was very minimal), but the gameplay surpassed Driver 1 IMM. Storyline wasn't too bad, but definitely more interesting than the first.
Driver 3- major flop! I loved the graphics and the gameplay (when it wasn't glitching or slowing down). Story was plain boring and somewhat predictable. I'd rather watch an episode of Dr. Phil.
So, with that....graphics aren't everything....they help, but aren't the meaning of a game. I just hate slow framerate and glitching!!!! And the storyline must suck me in, or I'll take it back to the store. Oh and the cars must sound different.:p

Wipeout, in your last post you quoted yourself and got angry for saying the same thing you said. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not, but I thought it was funny.
D3 only got a 6 on graphics? Thats funny, I wonder what GTA got... Too lazy to look but I bet it was a 9 at least.
D2 had beeter graphics than 1, it just had a lot of slowdown.
I've barely had any problems with D3 slowing down or freezing, must be the PS2.

Jeez  All this over D3, well lets get one thing straight, all but the A.I. and those damn glitches were what made the D3 a good game. If it's any consilation, I thought DRIV3R could use some work on the glitchs part, nothing about it's graphics was bad. Thought the pedistrains faces looked horrible, and the car interiors didn't look all that impressive, the rest were quite well done.

I played the demo of D3 for PC, and it sucked, it was more jumpy than a horny gamer on friday night. I was so dissapointed.

I quoted myself to point out what I said before because you didn't seem to understand.
I was a big fan of driver games and I always loved the gameplay, the chases (if you can call them that) in GTA are nothing compared to driver 1 or 2 but the car handling on driver3 was a HUGE dissapointment, nothing like the previous handling, trucks seemed to float and we couldn't even make a cool turn without loosing control over the car completely, nothing like previous games.

I didn't said that, they're free to try as much as they want but I'm sure the driver series lost a lot of fans with the third game. I expected driver3 with great antecipation believe me but after getting to play it.. yuck! I'm not antecipating this game at all now, mostly because of what they did with D3 and sincerely I won't even bother trying out a demo unless this game gets great reviews after release.

My god Wipeout777, just because one game, you are pist off? What the hell? It doesn't matter, lots of series have screwed up, some have succeed, like GTA. Don't hate a game because of one of the games in the series, it's not like the series has lots of messed up games. Then you can complain.

Stop your complaining Wipeout777. If you think that Parallel Lines will do bad then why dont you just leave this place and there you can complain all you want or the other options are to read the reviews of the game or better yet go ahead and borrow the game before you say it sucks.

I also didn't like the handling on some of the vehicles in D3. Although D3 wasn't as good as the earlier games, I'm still looking forward to this. I need a good car chase game. Its too bad it won't have film director, cause I was just starting to use it, and with the alledged amount of traffic in PL I'd love to make replays of huge crashes and weaving through dense traffic.

Yeah. That would be alot of fun and hopefully they'll make a film director mode for Driver 5.

I thought the next one (after parallel lines) was named Driver 4. As far as I know it comes out late next year on one of the next gen. consoles. Sometime around December 31, 2006, but that's in Japan so...
The only problem I have with parallel lines is that im not really liking the clothing on the guy.

I dont know, TK's appearance makes him seem...hippy-ish. That's why I like it more modern when it comes to games like this.
