I'm not thinking about cities for the "next" game, but I'm thinking about the country side. Why not make a driving game where I live, Lancaster Pennsylvania? you know, amish country. Imagine hijacking an amish buggy.
Mr. Tanner
12-17-2005, 02:40 PM
I love Lancaster, PA! I went there twice years ago! Did you ride the Strasburg Railroad steam trains Driv3r fool? I'd like to drive Steam Locomotives and 1920s cars in Lancaster in Driver 5, if they are or are not in D:PL. Great Choice!
Driv3r_fool

Yes I have ridden the old Strasburg trains. I live about 15 min away from them. The old Amtrack comes through my town of Parkesburg. I actually live in Chester county, but it's right next to Lancaster so it's all good. I just thought It would be awesome for a driving game to take place around here. There are so many hills and cornfields you could tear across. Parkesburg only has about 3000 people in it, along with all of the other "mini" towns scattered around (Cochranville, Atglen, Christiana, Gap). We don't have much of a police force so that might be a problem for a car chase game that takes place around here (Parkesburg is the biggest of all the towns, so we enforce mostly everyone. Funny thing is, we only have 3-4 cruisers. all of the other towns have like 2 or none).

Nice! Have you been to the PRR railroad museum across the street from the Strasburg RR Driv3r man? Fantastic Steamers! BTW, it's Amtrak, not Amtrack. Canadian Dude, Canada should be in Driver 5. I thought about Windsor. Which is across Detroit.

Maybe All of NEW BRUNSWICK.
But wheres the Canadian content in these games. There has to be at least 1 Canadian city.

Yeah that's why I said Montreal. Some spaces in Montreal are really tight, and there are also mountains and huge areas that could be really fun to drive in.

Yah why not put Montreal. It would be awsome for me because then i can compare the game to reality since i'm from there.

Not trying to hurt your feelings, but I could care less about Montreal. I've been to Niagara Falls, Canada and New York. That's a cool place! I'd really like to have Windsor because I could cross international lines and customs from the Detroit River to Canada. Like in D:PL New York to New Jersey.

Memphis would be great because it is in the southwestern corner of Tennessee. So it borders 2 states besides Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. That's 3 states in one area! I chose a lot of cities that border other states and countries, the more of them, the better! But yes I think everybody should get what they wish for, for Driver 5.

I'd love to drive down some of those old roads in Old Montreal during a high pursuit police chase :)
But still, we're all getting ahead of ourselves if we're discussing Driver 5 features already. Driver: PL is still months away from release :p

I hope that the game has at least two cities or a state that you can explore because it would be a lot better to be able to explore an entire state rather than skip all of that and have a little piece of the state. So I hope that Reflections decide to work on a state or even country in Europe. Or perhaps they could make up their own world and make it futuristic with flying cars and more advanced technology that would make it seem more like star wars, except that it would be focused on driving only.
Mr. Tanner

I REALLY hope Driver 5 has drivable trains. I want us to be able to steal cars and load them on to autorack freight train cars and steal a locomotive or a few to pull the train and steal HUNDREDS or even thousands or cars (automobiles) to other parts of the state, country, or city at one time on one train! No body can stop you when you do this because you'd be hauling millions of tons of train and car. All the cars you stole will remain protected by the train, unless if it derails. Which then the train and cars will be wrecked.

An Autorack truck should be drivable with the decker raise/lower function on it like in SA. But I really want to drive trains in Driver 5 too, freight, passenger, steam, diesel, electric, etc, etc. I understand everybody wants more and more cars in the future of Driver games, so I'm for more and more cars too. I'm not for trains being the ONLY drivable vehicles in Driver 5, but I just want them to be in the roster. Sorry about the double post, I didn't realize I double posted.

Well I agree with you that they should add trains that are driveable because most driving games have nothing to do with trains and I guess that it would be pretty cool to travel around inside the train or even drive it. Pandora Tomorrow is one of the only games I've seen that have to do with trains. I think that it would be fun to take a trip in a train and get to another city. You should be able to either buy a ticket and enjoy your ride by walking around or sitting down and looking through the window at the land and water or hijack the train and play around with it a little. Also I like the idea of driving your cars onto a train and getting all those cars stored inside a garage for your own personal use. I do hope that there is stuff that you can do with the trains. I have been waiting to be able to drive a train in a Driver game for a while, especially since Driver 2 where you have to get to the Train station in the last mission of Chicago. I just wish that it would be possible to drive a train. This could very well be Reflection's chance to show us more than just driving cars and bikes, but also other types of vehicles, but I know that there won't be any boats and flyable vehicles in the game that are driveable although it would be a good start if they also let you drive a train. I think that the Driver series fans would be quite impressed with that if it were to actually happen.

I hope we can load truck trailers onto flatbeds (Piggy Back). You drive an 18 wheeler onto a loading dock and have the trailer put onto the train. If we can drive trains, let's have a huge variety of freight and passanger cars. I hate it how in SA you can't sound the train's horn. I hope it's corrected by Driver. I was jealous in Driver 2 and Driv3r that we couldn't drive trains because we could drive anything else. I felt upset. We'll see when D:PL and Driver 5 come. All those Pro-train people might have their wishes come true. What games can you drive trains in besides SA John Cena? I'd like to know.

Well I heard of this one game called Locomotion, which is where you use railroads, trucking lines, buses, airplanes, and ships to become better than your competitors and to see who is the best at doing this. It's pretty cool and if you want to know more about it then you could find a forum on it in the atari forums. It's called Locomotion. As for any other games with trains then I couldn't simply tell you, which other ones have driveable trains. Oh and there's another Train game that I found, which is called Train Simulator for the PC. It features 11 driveable trains, authentically recreated trains, routes, and sounds, hundreds of miles of routes that take place in 3 continenets, Real-World operations activities and challenges from beginner to expert, and you can actually customize the trains. I will let you know if I find any other games based on driveable trains.
Mr. Tanner
01-03-2006, 07:21 PM
I used to have Train Simulator, but it's off my computer because it sucks! Locomotion is like a Rollercoaster Tycoon game. I got my train driving skills and cab control configurations from Train Simulator but it has very lame gameplay, physics, lame locations and Microsoft canceled Train Simulator 2. I hate them because they did this! So, what are you saying John Cena? You have it or you like it? I used to love it. 2 years ago in 2004 I'd play Driver 1 and 2 and Train Simulator side-by-side. I actually became more popular in school by liking and playing Driver. So now the girls think I'm really cool. I still play all Driver games because they're awesome and I love them.

No, I want Driver to have drivable trains, so it can get better scores and the player has a good time driving it. I want Driver 5 to be a train, car, truck, bike, bus and boat game. With the best physics offered. Thanks for the info John Cena! You're a great guy!

01-04-2006, 02:58 PM
I would either pick Cairo, Egypt or Bangkok, Thailand because it's more like Venice and it would be another great place to drive boats and perhaps even swim around if we ever see the swimming ability ever again in a Driver series game.
Mr. Tanner
01-04-2006, 03:35 PM
OK, let me just say I'm in High School and to drive a stick shift you ALWAYS push down on the clutch before and while you shift. But let off the clutch easily, or you'll spin the car out. Would you like to have Chicago in Driver 5 John Cena? It's your hometown. I didn't see any american cities on your list.
john cena
01-04-2006, 09:51 PM
Oh yes. I forgot to put some in, although I did have Langely, Virginia. And yes I would love it if Chicago was in Driver 5. It would be so awesome if you could go inside the Sears Tower and be all the way at the top where you look down and you see everything around you. I even think that Indiana is a little visible when from there. Just imagine walking around Millenium Park and many other locations in Chicago. It would be so awesome if they made the entire city so that way you'd be able to go through the suburban areas and even downtown itself. I hope that Reflections does decide to have Chicago as one of the cities in Driver 5.
matt__jon
01-05-2006, 12:16 PM
I want a made up city modeled to be the perfect place for driving fast and throwing your car around corners. It would have a section like San Francisco, some flatter parts near a beach, a part with really narrow roads, countryside, a big mountain with plenty of cliffs, a military base with working planes, streams and rivers wide enough for boats to speed through, waterfalls, maybe a desert too.
pirjay
01-05-2006, 01:03 PM
Decent boat chases would be fun
john cena
01-05-2006, 02:49 PM
It doesn't need to be made-up though. I think that it would be much better if Driver 5 took place in an entire state that has almost everything that you'd want to see in it and that would be even better because there'd be a lot of area to drive around and perhaps they're be a lot of places to explore if Reflections ever decides to have buildings with exploreable interiors again and this time there should be a lot for you to do there.
matt__jon
01-05-2006, 05:08 PM
They need to get rid of the cities that are pretty much just Hollywood sets, do that first, then make the city big. Even if its a small city where you can go everywhere, inside and out (yes, even the sewers, snipe people from storm drains), it would be a lot more fun than a big city with basically nothing to see (D3's cities, actually D2's also, but not D1, it didn't give you the sense that it was an adventure game)
But when you play D3 as what its supposed to be, just drive around running from cops, get out to shoot the cops and change cars, its a pretty fun game. I wish I had noticed that earlier, I was too busy thinking it was this great game looking for stuff that was not there, just in case.
john cena
01-06-2006, 03:35 PM
And why don't they work on a driver series game that takes place somewhere else like maybe in europe of some country. I don't see why so many games are based on the United States when they could be all based on just Europe or even Asia. I think that Reflections should work on a driver series game that takes place somewhere in the United Kingdom because first of all it's where the team lives and it would be pretty cool to explore the United Kingdom.
Mr. Tanner
01-06-2006, 03:37 PM
They did! In the Driver 1 credits. Newcastle, England.
john cena
01-06-2006, 03:45 PM
I know, but I want to see a place which you can actually do missions at and explore a little. I want to see a different place in the United Kingdom that perhaps was never used in any games like Birmingham.
Mr. Tanner
01-06-2006, 11:21 PM
You know, what if Driver 5 is a remake of Driver 1 and 2? Now that would be cool to have Tanner return in a remade version of previous Driver games! We could have Miami and New York remodeled the way they look in D:PL and Driv3r, including the Miami Airport this time. We could have new vehicles from '78 D:PL and muscle cars and pre-1979 cars from Driv3r in Miami! We could have Driv3r's and D:PL's gameplay (go on foot, shoot, change outfits). EVERYTHING should and would be drivable: cars, trams, trains, subways, boats, planes, bikes, trucks, busses, limos, choppers, blimps, cabs, tanks, construction vehicles and ships. No restrictions for what you can drive! Easier/more realstic gameplay too. Maybe have Havana in Driver 2 replaced with Key West, FL or at least have it added to the story. Open structure like in GTA and D:PL. Btw, Driver 1 takes place in 1979 and Driver takes place in 1989. Do you think this would be better or worse than a non-Tanner version of Driver?
john cena
01-07-2006, 02:49 PM
That's the same thing that I was talking about in the Driver and Driver 2 forums. I even wrote down some ideas of what the remakes should be like. These two links below are for the two topics that I made about the remake of driver and driver 2.

Everythings a remake nowadays.
What they should do though is make an option that, when the disc realizes its running on better technology, it asks if you want to scale up the amount of traffic, draw distance, special effects, etc.
#1theman
01-07-2006, 09:04 PM
^ You mean if you were playing Dr: PL on lets say a PS3 it lets you have lots a traffic is that, what you mean?
matt__jon
01-07-2006, 09:14 PM
Basically. Or to go with a game we know better, D3, lets say if they programmed it to work with future technology, rather than work on future tech, you could drive down a street filled with traffic, parking lots full of cars (of course with the 25 or so cars per city, parking lots would look pretty dull), but it'd be more fun. Plus it could have more explosions, and cars would actually look like they're going fast (and hopefully then a Ferrari could beat a police car in a race), and bigger draw distance too.
Mr. Tanner

Well if that's what cops really do in real life than there's really no point to get rid of it, however if it isn't that way then I don't see why the development team(s) thought of doing this in the first place and Reflections shouldn't be doing this if it's gonna frustrate every driver series fan when they play the game.

He was just being sarcastic. You, know, this has been a problem I've noticed more and more lately, some of you guys need to take Sarcasm 101, just so you can understand whats going on here.
No, real cops don't have nitrous (well, maybe very few), neither do the cops in the Driver series, they are just always faster than you. It works out like this because, try to stay with me on this:
The computer can only load the city up so fast, and draw it, because of this, as we see in Driv3r, every car goes the same speed, because the console cannot draw up city any faster in the distance. If there was a speedometer, the cars might read different top speeds, but going 70mph would still be the same as 140, meaning you in a Ferrari going 140 would be caught by cop doing 70. One thing that works against you is that the console is not drawing up draw distance for the cop cars, so it can move a cop car through the area you are in almost infinitely fast. So instead of letting a cop pass you, Reflections programmed it to be slightly faster.
But anyway, if you were to go play D3 and stand on the side of the street, the game could make a car pass you at 500mph and it would actually look like it was going that fast, but if you got in that same car and tried, it would only look like 70mph.
Well, I think thats how it works anyway.
Mr. Tanner

You've got to be kidding me Matt Jon! How can the cop car in Nice out-run the Lamborghini look-a-like, without nitrous? It's the fastest car in Driv3r! The cop car's got to have Nitrous. Case closed!

Mr. Tanner

It wouldn't be a bad idea if Driver 5 has you set in the shoes of Tanner's dad back in 1954. Maybe at some part of the story, his wife gives birth to Tanner, and we see him as a baby, the future Driver! But Tanner's dad should be a wheelman/undercover cop and not a bad guy. The cities should be New York, Chicago, Miami and Las Vegas. Great 50s style cities! We should drive LOTS AND LOTS of classic cars from that time period and before the 50s. 1st generation diesel and electric locomotives would be cool because they were replacing steam trains. Steam locomotives would be cool because the powerful and nice looking steam trains ran in the 50s esp. in Chicago, What beauties! Old trucks and busses would be fun to drive. Old planes and aircraft would be cool too (if necessary to be in Driver 5). Boats should return, a tugboat would be cool to drive and racing boats! And old bikes from that time would be fun to ride too. We'd have a classic soundtrack with Elvis and other artists from the 50s and before then. "Viva Las Vegas"! Please don't say this is a lame idea for Driver 5! I thought so hard to come up with this idea!
matt__jon
01-10-2006, 05:53 PM
As long as we don't have to listen to music from the 50's or earlier, I don't mind. I'm sorry, but up until the Beatles, everyone was just boring.
pirjay
01-10-2006, 05:55 PM
I don't mind jazz. If that existed before the 50s...
Mr. Tanner
01-10-2006, 05:55 PM
That's fine. But I think if it did take place in the 50s, Elvis would be awesome! The Beatles are cool too for 60s music!
matt__jon
01-11-2006, 11:32 AM
Yeah, nothing wrong with the music, it just makes me feel like sitting in an abandoned attic and gathering dust.
I'm more into post-Beatles music. Of course, there are good songs from every time period. I even like classical piano music, because its more of a challenge to play than just about everything you hear today on the radio
Mr. Tanner
01-11-2006, 03:35 PM
I thought of this for Driver 5 so we can see Tanner as a baby and play as his dad in the 50s. Maybe at the end of the game it should say as the subtitle "1979, New York, NY" and shows some Driver 1ish footage of him (Tanner) driving. Then the ghost of his dad (I hope he's still alive in 1979) appears and he says "Drive on wheelman! Drive on!"
matt__jon
01-11-2006, 06:43 PM
Getting kinda Star Wars with the ghosts now. Use the force Tanner.
Mr. Tanner
01-11-2006, 06:56 PM
It's an idea Matt Jon. But you see, Tanner carries down the driving spirit throughout his family. So at the end we see Tanner as an adult in 1979 when he's 25 (like in Driver 1) and his dad gives him a little confidence. Until Driver 1.................
pirjay

I'm not sure if these cities should be added to my wishlist for cities or start all over. But here's what I want added:
1. New Haven and Bridgeport, CT and all in between those 2 major CT cities and with extensions to North Haven, West Haven and East Haven, CT
2. New York, NY like in D:PL, but more of Queens, Bronx and Yonkers!
3. Philadelphia, PA with extensions to Jenkintown PA, New Jersey and Wilmington, DE
4. Hartford, CT with extensions to Simsbury, CT and Springfield, MA
5. Lancaster County, PA all of it!
6. Rochester, NY with extensions to Victor, Lake Canninduaga and Farmington, NY.
You can't resist the Northeastern US! Esp. New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut!

I'd like to say this is the "Official" Driver 5 wishlist. Not just cities and vehicles. Yes you may post whatever you want. Go Crazy!
matt__jon
01-15-2006, 12:36 AM
Basically everything on the D4 wishlist that doesn't make it.
Why don't they just make Tanner the guy that exposes TK in '78, so in 2006 he's the last boss- then you get to blow him away once and for all as TK!
And yeah, we need a remake of D1 and 2, but please god just retexture d1's miami- I never want to see the mundane driv3r miami again as long as I live.
As for the cops using nitro- didn't you realise that it's the driver formula that has made it all work since day one? cop cars are faster than you, but also weaker and overresponsive. The whole point...the very essence of driver itself is to outmaneuvre the cop cars to complete missions- that's why it never pays to go in a straight line for too long- they always catch up.
How can you not have realised that!?
pirjay
01-15-2006, 10:09 PM
Brok, the cops have nitrous, they go faster than you, come on.
They GOTTA have nitrous for that, Brok they GOTTA! :bulb:
maybe, pirjay, maybe :D- but nothing will beat the 'teleport to spot exactly above suspect's car' device they had in driv3r.
And Mr. Tanner- what if reflections just changed the audio in the game so the cop cars never over-rev? problem solved, eh?!
matt__jon
01-16-2006, 04:46 PM
I have too realised the cops are meant to catch up to you. What annoys me is when they ram your bumper every 2 seconds
JJMPB
01-17-2006, 03:45 PM
The cops aren't able to go as fast as they did in the last mission in DRIVER all those cop cars and secret service cars were 2 times faster than that damn caddy you were driving made it almost impossible to surivie

Drivable Autorack transport is a MUST for Driver 5 as John Cena and I explained earlier in this thread. That is by truck, or train, or even aircraft (like a C130). This way you can import and export cars yourself, steal them all at once, and have them protected. It helps!
matt__jon
01-20-2006, 06:47 PM
Cargo helicopter, that way you can airlift cars, then they can hide secret cars in areas cars can't get to, like say if a car was in the grassy area in the middle of the Pentagon, and you couldn't drive through the Pentagon, just airlift it. Or an island. Sure, how did the car get there? Who cares, maybe they built the building around it on accident, or all the land collapsed under the ocean leaving one car on a small island.

Mr. Tanner
01-21-2006, 08:41 PM
If Driver 5 takes place in multiple places. I have an idea that just might work. OK, when you leave the city to travel to another one, you CAN'T leave your vehicle. If it gets wrecked, a tow truck should come and bring you back to the closet city. Like drive from New York City to New Haven, CT. Or a drive from NYC to Philadelphia. It might work, don't blast me! I live in CT, man was today a warm day! I only had to wear a sweat jacket and a long-sleeve shirt! That's VERY warm in the middle of winter of the New England/NY area!
matt__jon
01-21-2006, 11:22 PM
How far apart would the cities be? You're thinking too much into realism man, let games be games. Do you not think it would be boring that, if you wrecked your car halfway through an hour long trip to another city, you can't get out and steal another, and you have to wait half an hour for a tow truck to get there, and then watch the screen as you get towed back to the city.
You basically want someone to program a game to suck major monkey balls
Mr. Tanner
01-21-2006, 11:37 PM
Maybe from Bridgeport to New Haven, CT. Those cities are about 30 miles apart in Southern CT. Those are Connecticut's major cities apart from Hartford. Maybe you don't know those cities, but it would be great for Driver! Southern CT looks like New York in lots of ways, so think of it that way. If it did take place there, there would be no need for that lock-in thing when you leave a city. Bridgeport is maybe 56 miles away from NYC.
john cena
01-22-2006, 03:28 PM
Good idea Mr. Tanner.
Mr. Tanner
01-22-2006, 08:09 PM
Thank you John Cena. If we did have Southern CT in Driver 5, we could have the drivable boats back. CT is famous for lots and lots of different types of vehicles including boats. Bridgeport and New Haven make GREAT industrial/crime and run-down city scenes for Driver. You're going to hate me after I say this but, our president George W. Bush was born in New Haven, CT.

Niccccccccccccccccccce dude. Well subtract the train cars and truck trailers and there's your answer to how many drivable vehicles I want. Those are pulled by either 18 wheeler cabs or locomotives. You can't drive them. But you can drive a handcar. I drove 1 before!:D I actually counted it up, it's 130 vehicles excluding train cars and truck trailers. It'll happen with 130 vehicles for sure for Driver 5. Look at SA, it had about 200 drivable vehicles in that roster.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. If SA can have as many as 200 vehicles then D5 should be able to have perhaps twice as many. The Blu-ray disc is about twice as powerful as a normal disc so I think that it would be possible to hold all of those vehicles.

Good thinkin'! Now remember, Driver 5 will be on PS3, you can fit much more than on a PS2. So we can have more vehicles, more cities, and bigger cities! OK, I added a few more vehicles and now it's at 133 I believe (not including train cars and truck trailers).

Its not impossible for a Driver game to have supercars, the game already does.
Driver 3:
GT40 (Miami)
Shelby Cobra (Miami)
Ferrari Somethingorother (Miami) F355 I think???
Lamborghini Countach (Nice)
Jaguar E-Type (Nice)
and a few others
And in PL theres already a Ferrari Dino that I know of, and a Detomaso Pantera.
But they should inlclude destructive vehicles, big rigs (already got em), construction equipment of all kinds, big and small (not that hard to find around a city, also a plus), tanker trucks filled with propane :devil , army tanks (glad they added that, I hope the turret is better than GTA, they left a lot of room for improvement)
Articulated Buses (they hinge in the middle)
And of course supercars, muscle cars, and normal cars.

I'll add Honda, Suzuki, Triumph, Aprilia, Yamaha, Buell, Harley-Davidson...
Of course they won't be able to use the actual names, but they can make them look similar. I like the sportbike designs in Driv3r, and they sound like the real deal.
Here's a car I'd love to see in Driver 5.
An ultra-fast, low to the ground Formula 1 Racer. They sound a lot like liter sized sportbikes, and move just as fast.
And while I'm at it: If the Reflections Interactive Team could add to Driver 5:
-Interior dash views for ALL vehicles, including motorcycles.
-REAL TIME Passenger rides with windows(buses, trains, jets, etc.)
-Keep the day/night cycle in the next Driver.
-A Stuntman like stunt track in a Driver game.
-More camera views for the main character
-Walk in/crash through buildings, malls, hotels, restaurants, etc.
-Cruise Control Button
-HIDDEN Flight Vehicle!
-Able to sit down in chairs, rest on bed to regain health, etc.
-Freeways that go on for hundreds of miles!!!
-Ability to walk up to the highest skyscraper and look outside, then jump off with a sportbike.

What kind of vehicle is a Tuk Tuk? Is that more of a car, or bike. I thought they were very cool in Stuntman! I'd like to have a snowmobile too. I think we should have lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng train routes and highways. This way we can see so many cool places! Drive from L.A.-Chicago on Rt. 66 would be aswesome! Or from Miami to the Maine-Canada border on I-95!

I agree 100 percent. A long ride with lots to see along the way, like sea shores, forests (to explore with the dirtbikes), malls, food stops, rest stops, mountains, steep hills, etc. Kinda like riding through Colorado.
When will they make this happen in a video game? Has it been done? I'm talking 1,000's of miles of four lane highways, even two lanes if they want. Driver 2 seemed like it came close to the idea with the Chicago freeway system.
Mr. Tanner

What are you sayin' man? Are you saying Driver 2 had the most realistic highways? I don't think so. I think, or should I say I know that Driv3r had the most realistic. Check out Interstate 95 in Miami. See for yourself.

Man. That's such an awesome idea Mr. Tanner. You've got so many good ideas as I've noticed that maybe you should think of becoming a game designer or perhaps a creator. A creator would suit very well so that way you can choose whichever way you want the game to be. I think that it would be a splendid idea if you did this. I've got plenty of ideas for video games that I'd love to make in the future and its bound to happen. Also keep in mind that if you ever feel bored and have time to do something then you should write down a list of things that you'd want in a video game. Remember to be as creative and perhaps realistic as you possibly can. It works very well for me. You should see how many ideas I've come up for video games. If you did then you'd be amazed. I've got over 110 pages written down of types of games and ideas that I'd like to have if I ever were to have the chance to make video games. I think that you would do very well with making driver games since you've got so much in your head and I'm sure that you'd be the best out there if you got a job like that. Think about it for a second. In the meanwhile lets get back to talking about what we'd like to see in D5. I would go with the ideas that you've come up with and I would probably add some more features like:
- Being able to do things inside your car like turn lights on/off, change radio stations, increase/decrease the volume, and any other things that you can possibly do whether you're driving or not.
- fighting system that allows you to do moves like punches and kicks.
- realistic actions like when swimming, jumping, grabbing onto ledges to get to higher areas, and more.
- Locations like Chicago; Illinois, Toronto; Canada, Las Vegas; Nevada, Los Angles; California, Death Valley; California, Elpaso ; Texas, San Antonio; Texas, Dallas; Texas, Colorado Springs; Colorado(I've been there and it's a really nice place), Denver; Colorado(have been there too), San Francisco; California, San Diego; California, Seattle; Washington, Little Rock; Arkansas, Atlanta; Georgia, Detroit; Michigan, Orlando; Florida, Miami; Florida(yep I want it back), Washington; D.C. Virginia, Langley; Virginia, Boston; Masachusetts, Montreal; Canada, Quebec; Canada, and Niagara Falls (both sides of Canada and New York). I think that these states would fit very well for the game.
Right now I don't have anymore ideas, but I will try to think of more of them.

(READ REFLECTIONS!)
Driver 5 (don't have a full name yet)
Main Character: Adrian Wade
Time periods: 1988 and 1995
Locations:
Birmingham (small town of Alabama USA)
Montgomery (small town of Alabama USA)
Mobile (a place by the docks)
Biloxi (nice place by the beach in Mississippi USA)
New Orleans (a place with crime and drugs)
Story: A 20 year old guy name "Adrian Wade" with a skill of driving that he doesn't know about. When he gets to working for his father "Mason" in Birmingham Alabama doing small jobs. He soon discovers the skill he has for driving. Mason is buying a cafe from a mob boss from Atlanta name "Tom Rudino". And when Mason falls behind and screws up a deal, they come to kill him. The mob gives Adrian a chance to live by working for them to pay for the cafe and his life. Adrian is stuck doing dangerous dirty work for the mob. Sooner or later, the rest of his family is threaten. With Adrians skill for driving, he has to save his family one by one, even his girl-friend "Jennifer Will". Adrians life is threaten even more. As this goes from Birmingham to Montgomery Alabama. Doing jobs and following clues. When Adrian gets the chance, he kills the mob boss and runs with his girl-friend to Mobile Alabama. As everything is over. Adrian and Jennifer moves on with their life. They even get married. After 7 years later... Somone comes to haunt Adrians life. Adrian has flashbacks about his past, afraid that it isn't over with. While trying to ignore it, it hits him even harder. Adrian figures that there is someone trying to kill him. As gunmen try to kill Adrian and his wife Jennifer, they run together trying to figure out who's still trying to kill them. Adrian later on finds that it is the founding son of Tom Rudino. "Roony Jay" Not actually Tom's son, but close as a son. Roony Jay has a mind of pure evil. Roony will do anything to mess your life up. He will hurt members of your family, just to give you a hard time. It wouldn't be no fun for Roony if he just killed Adrian. Roony would even sacrifice his men to get someone back of killing his fake father. Adrian is willing to put this to a stop. But as Adrian keeps trying to put a stop to it, Adrian is falling into Roony's traps. Adrian gets charged with murder, and is wanted by the police. Adrian has to use his driving skill to keep the one piece of his family left. As this goes from Biloxi Mississippi to New Orleans it's a action packed thrill-ride.
I don't have a ending to it. :noob:
Gameplay features:
You have some friends that works at a garage, and you can modify your vehicle.
A open world game with branching paths like for example, a family members life depends on your actions.
Cars from random saddens to rare muscle cars, trucks and big rigs.
A day and night time cycle with weather like rain and fog.
Big game-play feel, that make it feel like real life.
Very realistic damage that bring more to the action.
Weapons like Revolvers, Pistols, Shotguns, Uzi's, and even Assault rifles.
More real life effects to the small towns of Alabama like moving trees and birds in the sky.
Drive from each town to another in life like country sides and south-side beaches.
Become a better wheelman and go into races and competitions out-side of the story line.
That's all I got. If Reflections by any chance is reading this. You can however use all of those ideas and use them for Driver 5. But if you don't, I'm going to use them when or if I become a game developer. But it won't be Driver style. It will be totally action style. I have other ideas that I'm not telling about, because I don't want people to be stealing my best ideas. :downcast:

We make a great team! Thank you for the compliment. You have many good ideas for cities! If we were to make this game together John Cena, I would design the vehicles, while you can design the cities. I don't really think we'll make it, because we live in America, we'd have to live in Newcastle, England for 3 years. Wheelman and wrestler for making Driver 5? Now we make the best team!:D  I just really hope that we aren't acting like 2 kids in a candy store, if you know what I mean. For the vehicles, I'd make them VERY simulated to the real things. I'd even incorperate a manual shift system and clutch system on stick shift cars. If I made Driver 5, I'd bust my butt to make the best driving game ever. I'd study how all vehicles work and their history.

Another Idea to make Driver 5 more realistic. How about in Driver 5, they add the need for GASOLINE refueling and tire changing.
Need to fill up Gas Tank every 500 miles of travel, or the car will stop running. Then, you'll have to grab a gas can and walk to a station, then back to fill it up.
The tires could last every 1000 miles of travel before replacing. Otherwise, they'll pop and grip the road poorly.
(I know it exaggerated mileage, but it's a game.)
Mr. Tanner
02-24-2006, 12:32 PM
Oh yes, I'd make sure that ALL vehicles have refueling capabilaties. Actually, subways, electric locomotives, and trollies don't need fuel. They get their power off of overhead lines. Same thing with bumper cars too! Also, pedal bikes, Razor scooters, rollercoasters, handcars, velocipedes, and segways don't need fuel.
InsaneDriver06

In Driver 5, include a wide open desert or airport dragstrip, where the player can reach the vehicle's top speed, and add some loops, plus a giant ramp to fly off of. Speaking of that, add a Dragcar racer, the kind where the parachute pops out the back to slow it down. At 200 MPH and up, the slightest turn will flip the vehicle, forcing it to crash and tumble into the air.
I see Driver PL has Coney Island. If there aren't any rideable Roller Coasters, add one in Driver 5. Heck, add a whole Amusement Park with log flumes, roller coasters, ferris wheels, twisters, prize games, etc. Have the park visible in the distance during gameplay, but after beating the game, reward the player by opening the park to the public(pedestrians)!
If Reflections doesn't want to add a whole park, then at least set up a Coaster Track where the player can ride a motorcycle on it, where as long as you hit the gas, the bike would be locked onto the track and through the loops until you reach the loading bay. That would rock!

Six Flags Great Adventure.
Ever play Aggressive Inline? The rollerblade game on the PS2? If so, there was an Amusement Park, where you could hitch onto a rollercart and ride through a roller coaster.
Another Driver 5 Idea. Include Highway Police Officer Duty, where you can stake out on the interstate, checking the speeds with a radar gun, pulling over wreckless drivers, and wondering when you get out of the car to give a ticket or warning, whether or not the driver will pull a gun out. Include stranded motorists and accidents as well. Also allow the car to carry passengers, criminals to be taken back to the police jail.
Mr. Tanner
02-24-2006, 01:10 PM
Yeah, state troopers and highway cops would be cool! I'd like to have it so in Driver 5 you can do as many possible things with any type of vehicle in a realsitic manner. Like I'd love to have it where you can press the enter/exit vehicle button and the up at the front of a car to open the hood. You could press the enter/exit vehicle button and the down button at the front to hotwire it. And if you stand at the back if you press enter/exit vehicle button and up, you could open the trunk. And if you stand at the passanger seats of a car, you should enter them and just sit there. While if you're at the driver's door, you'll drive the car there. I hope Driver 5 also has a manual key starting ability too.

Your very welcome Mr. Tanner. Personally I think that it would be possible to start a development team and work on a driving game. With our ideas I think that we would create the greatest driving experience that you could every imagine. As for InsaneDriver06's and your other ideas, I think that it would be really fit the game well, especially because there'd be possibly everything that you can do with any type of vehicle. And here's some cool features that I'd like to see in D5:
- Ability to drive every vheicle that there ever was and still is since the beginning of the year 1900s. There should be every single type of model for a car, motorbike, train, helicopter, plane, boat, bicycle, snowmobile, and every other type of vehicle that there is.
- Every single type driving job that there is today.
- Ability to do anything with a vehicle that you can possibly do no matter what type of vehicle it is.
- The ability to create your own character, and vehicle.
- Customize your vehicle(not just cars) in every possible way.
- The ability to import/export your vehicles so that you can obtain them later on. Like if you were going to California from Wahington you can obtain your vehicle there.
- Cause any kind of accident with any type of vehicle.
- There are all kinds of things going on like fires, police investigations, accidents, etc. Whenever something like this is going on, you tend to usually see roads being blocked and emergency vehicles parked in front of the situation(s).
Well that's all I can possibly think of right now.
Mr. Tanner

I want Driver 5 to be a combination of all previous Driver games, Stuntman, Train Simulator, Trainz, Flight Simulator, GTA: SA, The Midnight Club games, L.A. Rush, and maybe Gran Turismo 4. I want Driver 5 to include enough slices of cake for everybody. (Muscle car fans, railfans, mechanics, boaters, truckers, pilots, car dealers, motorcyclists, The Military, and many other people). Everybody deserves a slice of cake for Driver 5, no more of this "Car Only" crap. That's being vehicle racist, I'm sort of like the Rosa Parks of vehicles, but a guy. For example, I could say I want only white pedestrians for Driver 5, I'm being racist right there, I mean I do want different races of people in the game, not just white, you can be vehicle racist too you know, not just people racist.
john cena
02-25-2006, 12:19 PM
Yes I agree that there should be more types of races in the game. It would make the game more fun and I wish one day that every single pedestrian in the game would look different from one another.

Yeah I guess it's possible. I mean who else would try to look at our comments and ideas about the Driver series? Would it be some artist from Reflections or a designer? I don't see how it would be a person like that so yes it's probably Gareth.
Mr. Tanner

He'd flame us so badly if he was. He'll say things like "What, you want the boats back for D:PL? Play Driv3r or GTA you Driver hater, go to hell!, this game's about car chases (yes I'm aware I say that a lot) "

Well we may never know unless a mod lets us know that Gareth's a member here. I don't think that a mod will tell us who it is that's been viewing the Driver Series forums. If Martin Edmondson used to be the developer then maybe it was him, but who was looking at our ideas and comments for D3? That remains a mystery for now.

I think that we would. If he did it in Driv3r then he would probably do the same in DPL. I think that it would've been great if that was done.

Martin would add and add and add. Gareth wants to subtract so much. I think Gareth's the evil brother.

Good point Mr. Tanner. I think that if Martin stayed then he would've done a lot more than Gareth could have done. Martin made a bad choice to leave and I wonder what he's doing now. I hope that Gareth doesn't keep D5 from having Tanner as the main character because that would suck.
Mr. Tanner
02-25-2006, 03:36 PM
Yeah really, Tanner should be the character for all Driver games (past and future). If he returns in Driver 5, I hope the new ability that he can do is drive any vehicle his heart desires. He'll have a license to operate anything. Many more people will by this game if that happens. Hell I think more people are buying SA because of the nice plane roster. Maybe even old guys who flew them in wars are buying and playing it.

I hope that they include online or even multiplayer for D5. It's so dissapointing that they had to get rid of it. Does DPL still contain multiplayer or did they take it out of the game too?

Funny story, back in 2004 when my cousin came over, we played 2 player take a ride in Driver 2 in Vegas. He drove the Cuda/Challanger muscle car. While I drove the Chevy pick up truck. Between the 2 of us, we made a bet to see who can hit 1 another first. He NEVER hit me. I hit him though. Can you believe that? I beat a muscle car when I drove a pick up truck!
john cena
02-25-2006, 04:16 PM
Is he even good at driving games?
Mr. Tanner
02-25-2006, 04:19 PM
I'd rate him "Mediocre", he knows his controls and he gets the feel for it. He plays Driv3r all the time in Miami and Nice, he never drove in Istanbul. He loves the muscle cars of Miami, and he loves the Countach in Nice. He smashes up a lot. Why did they put that feature in Driv3r with either cops or no cops in the city? He's a wus, he keeps them off.
john cena
02-25-2006, 04:21 PM
I don't know, but it's stupid to have no cops because first of all, that makes the game unrealistic, and second of all it can get quite boring when you do that.
Mr. Tanner
02-25-2006, 04:25 PM
Agreed! I always have them on. No matter how hard it is. I take it like a man by doing it the realistic way. All my friends keep them off when they play it with me. But I get aggrivated when they do that.
john cena
02-25-2006, 04:27 PM
Yeah and the more you keep it on, the better you'll get at driving. It's pretty pointless to have cops out of a game when it would enhance your driving skills as much as it should.
Mr. Tanner
02-25-2006, 04:33 PM
True, the series has always been about cops right? Although having them off gives you more of "King" mode, you could even be a vigilante for civialians and not get in trouble for doing it.
john cena
02-25-2006, 04:35 PM
Yeah you're right about that and I don't see why you can't do any missions as a normal cop in the game. I think that it would be better so that you could arrest people, give tickets to those who were speeding, and even calling backup would make the game even better.
Mr. Tanner
02-25-2006, 06:40 PM
You could do normal cop missions in Driv3r. The 1st 3 that are in Miami are good examples of what I'm talking about.
DodgeChallenger
02-25-2006, 08:12 PM
Yeah I'd like to see some mixed action with upholding the law maybe. It's probably less fun than you think. Getting away is easier than chasing. Giving tickets out would get boring, but something like Driver:PL online, in a kind of massively multiplayer online game with people choosing to uphold the law or run from it (kind of like that shooter 25 to life, except Driver style). Spike strips like in the old Need for Speed games would be nice too.

The 1st mission of Driver 5 should be a driving test mission. Like in Driver 1, you're behind the wheel of a muscle car and you have 1 minute to pass the test by doing what's required of you. The 2nd mission of Driver 5 should be a firing range mission, like in Driv3r, you shoot the cardboard men who are bad guy impersonators, and not harming the innocent ones.
Boscoe
02-25-2006, 11:43 PM
I never had the feeling Tanner was actually with the police, he did zero cop-stuff, they should change that for Driver 5. Of course you could say that writing out tickets gets boring after a while, but that doesnt matter, its the fact that you CAN if you want to, I know I would.
The 1st mission of Driver 5 should be a driving test mission. Like in Driver 1, you're behind the wheel of a muscle car and you have 1 minute to pass the test by doing what's required of you. Agreed, but should you take the role of a cop again, then they should make it like a police training ground, where you have to perform different manoeuvers like the well-known PITT manoeuver and of course the plain 'ol 360 degree turns and all that.
BTW, one thing that always bothered me about games like Driver and GTA, is the fact that when the cops drive up to you with their flashing lights on, and when they get out of the car, the flashing lights also go off, besides it being against police procedure, its also dangerous. Imagine this, you see a police car arriving at the scene of an accident (in night-time) they park the car in the middle of the road, the police officers get out, but also at the same time, turn off their headlights and flashing lights. Call me crazy, but I dont think cops would do that in real life.:noob:
Of course you could say im nitpicking here, but its very easy to fix, and you'd make the realism freaks a little bit happier.;)

Well in Driv3r, the cops would have the sirens on when they got out sometimes. Even you could do that yourself. It doesn't work in Driver 2.

They never did with me, I know you can do it yourself, but that kinda beats the purpose of it.

But you know how sometimes the cops just sit in the car and do nothing and park in the middle of the road and have their sirens running? I hope that NEVER happens in D:PL or Driver 5.
Boscoe
02-26-2006, 12:09 AM
Ah yes, thats what you meant. Yeah, that happens to me occasionally, even worse is the fact that if you shoot at the cop, he just doesnt die. You could even blow the whole car up up with the grenade launcher and he'll just keep on sitting there.

Man the AI is just horrible. Hopefully DPL will fix these problems. I don't want to see anything like this in DPL. No one would wanna see it either.

I hope you could use for the PC version of Driver 5 (if it comes out) steering wheel controllers (to drive cars, trucks, boats, and any other vehicle that can steer) raildriver (a simulated cab of a diesel locomotive to drive trains with) and a joystick (to fly aircraft with it). It'll give you a more realistic feel for what you're driving or flying.

I guess it should be. I mean most racing games on the pc can use it right?
Mr. Tanner
02-26-2006, 01:06 PM
I guess most of them are. Remember, I play PS2, the last PC game I remember playing was Microsoft Train Simulator in summer of 2004, I actually used Raildriver for that. Let's not think about that game, it's a terrible game. I'm glad I switched to Driver (2003-the day I die). Actually, it wasn't Train Simulator, it was Battle of Britain, I'll still play that game if I want to, but never Train Simulator again.

02-26-2006, 01:13 PM
So you're saying that you got into the Driver series of the year 2003? Wow. I've started like since I got my playstation, which was like in 2001 or 2002 and I haven't gotten as good as you have with the games. Well I guess it's because I haven't been playing them in a long time and I still wanna get Driv3r because I don't have the money to buy it, but I probably will get it as one of my birthday presents. I will try to save around $70 so that I can get DPL too. And the good thing is that my birthday's in 2 days so I can't wait.
Mr. Tanner
02-26-2006, 01:19 PM
No, I got Driver 1 for Christmas of 2000. I didn't really play it all the time. But I got real serious about it in 2003. I bought Driver 2 in summer of 2003 (I didn't have a PS2 yet). For christmas of 2003 I got a PS2. Then 6 months later I bought Driv3r on the first day it came out. So I fell in love with the Driver games pretty easily.

Oh I see. Well I've played NFS Hot Pursuit 3 on my pc a lot. It was a lot of fun playing that game back in the days. I also used to play a NES motor bike racing game as well Moto Racer on my pc too. I just loved riding motor bikes in video games and I still do. They're a lot of fun.

I hope the story of Driver 5 is that Tanner and Jones return. The year's 2006, about 3 or 4 years from their last adventure in Driv3r. Tanner (age 52) and Jones (age 47) now work in the City of Angels undercover. At the beginning, a black man named Lionel Kay (parody of Lidell Ray from L.A. Rush) travels with a hispanic drug gang from Tijuana, Mexico, via San Diego, and heading north to Los Angeles. Lionel's a rich man who has awesome rides (some he stole, others he bought with his rich and filthy money), drugs, lots of money, the leader of a drug gang, pimp, and who has a pretty 25 year old girlfriend Tanner likes. Tanner's got to stop Lionel and throw him into jail for real heinous crimes that he commited all over the country, prevent anymore rides from being stolen or wrecked, and still get and win the girl.

Thank you John Cena. Do you have an idea for a story? Give it a shot if you want to! Oh, I got the idea of Lionel with the drug gang from Cheech and Chong. How they have to smuggle drugs from Mexico-L.A. It would be a funny and thrilling story!

Ok I'll try. Let me see. Tanner just got out of the hospital and he's back at NYC where he's originally from. Now Tanner and Jones are still after Calita. Calita has her own gang, which are now more powerful than ever. She own a rich mansion in NYC and is doing business around in the U.S. manufacturing drugs. She has also be really bad criminal that no matter what always gets away from the cops, but Tanner's the best wheelman out there and he'll di whatever it takes to capture Calita. Jones is still with Tanner and helps him out throughout most of the missions. The missions will take place in NYC, then in Florida, California, and the last few missions lead back to the famous NYC. Well that's what I can think of for now. What do you think?

You're smart, I'm glad you said Calita instead of Jericho. Turns out, he died in Driv3r. It's OK, but do you think Calita's familiar with New York? Mr. Tanner
02-27-2006, 08:35 PM
Mission name: "From movie stars, to playin' cards"
Overview: Lionel leaves L.A. with his women and his girlfriend and they go to Vegas by a special train. Tanner and Jones now have to stop Lionel (he's america's most wanted). So Tanner and Jones first hear that he's moving out by train to Vegas. Now don't worry, there's a 1973 Dodge Challanger that's unlocked and parked on Rodeo Drive. Tanner and Jones have to drive to Union Station before the train goes. Now at Union Station, Tanner and Jones steal the train (the train's a Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 Challenger, how ironic, you drive a challenger car and locomotive!) Luckly, Tanner earned his train driving license! This is silent, Tanner and Jones tell the engineer and fireman they're with the LAPD. So the train is now under their control. Lionel doesn't know that cops are on his train, but he's having a good time watching strippers in the bar car! With a 300 mile trip across the Mojave Desert in California into Vegas (fantastic desert sunsets!), they stop the train at the Vegas train station. A limo waits for Lionel and his party at the station. Tanner and Jones just hang loose at the station for a few minutes so the crowd will loosen up a little bit................... The chase is on! Lionel enters his limo with his party and tells the driver to floor it! Tanner and Jones steal a Mustang Convertible in the parking lot. They say they're with the LAPD (Jones found a bullhorn) and reveal all of Lionel's crimes. His girlfriend (the 1 Tanner likes) hates him for being a criminal. This chase goes on for a very long time, but they do go highspeed down the strip and through the desert east. Tanner and Jones stop Lionel's limo at the Hoover Dam, throw him into a Nevada State copcar, and Tanner wins the girl. The end! I hope I didn't go a little too far with a Tommy Boy ending. But it's happy and heroic at the same time. (Audience) YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!

Sounds pretty cool for a mission. I hope that they do have missions in the game that have to do with trains as well as any other types of vehicles. And you know what Reflections should do? They should expand their game so that it has not only the best car chases, but also the best chases on motorbikes, on foot(more like when a person is running away from another guy), and with every other vehicle that there is. It would probably be the most enjoyable driving game if they did this.

I got those ideas for "From movie stars to playin' cards" from quite a few different movies and games. I got the drive from Rodeo Drive to Union Station from previous Driver games (being timed), that's the Driver classic right there. The train jacking/raid/drive I got that from the movie Raid on Entebbe (true historical terrorist movie), GTA:SA, and Train Simulator. I got the limo chase from previous Driver games (another Driver classic), and from Jizzy's first mission in GTA:SA with the pimp mobile (Tanner's driving a Mustang convertable instead of a pimp mobile). And I got the exposer of Lionel, Tanner winning his sweatheart, and Lionel being arrested, I got from Tommy Boy. See, now I put those movies and games in to keep this mission based on cool movies and games.

I got 120 bucks for my birthday and my dad said that he'll give me some more money if he ever gets any. I'm going to buy DPL and Driv3r as well as save up money for the biggest event of this year, which is WrestleMania 22 and it's live in Chicago, Illinois. Unfortunately the tickets sold out in less than a minute sometime during October so I don't have a chance of going, but there's a contest for a person to win two tickets there and I'm entering everyday so that I can increase my chances of winning.

Man, do you remember when Stuntman first came out? Since you couldn't drive in free roam, all I did was fantasize about how cool DRIV3R was going to be. I was so pleased with the cars in D3, even though most of the missions were no fun. I loved D3 just for the TAR mode and film director. D3 is in my pile of "keeper" games. This might be stupid, but i want a mission where you are in control of a train, and there's enemys on it, so you have to drive it off the tracks, but jump out RIGHT before the train goes off the edge. If you jump off to soon the train will stop. And you have to drive fast, because the enemys are looking for you.

That's a great idea for a mission!:D  ;) I can't see why that's a stupid idea man, it rocks! :punk: If they do have drivable trains in Driver 5 (which they must, otherwise Reflections is getting dumber and Driver 5 won't be a seller), I hope they have derailing physics like in SA. How they smash into everything! I don't think you'll care about this, but last night I had a dream where I was driving an 18 wheeler truck with a dumper trailer on it, and I got it loaded at a loading dock by having bulldozers push wads of cash into it. I was like the richest man in the world! Having thousands of cash wads of $1000.00 in each wad. I wish that dream was real!:( But I have no school today, I have a snow day!:D

Yeah that would be awesome and do you know what driver needs? It needs a combination of the best chases and explosions as well as damage for vehicles in order for it to be the best driving game. I think that if they do this then their games will be bigger than any other game out there today.

I saw an episode of Beavis and Butthead when an 18 wheeler carrying matches, and another carrying oil smashed into eachother because Beavis and Butthead were playing frisbe with an antique plate that was Stuart's, so the plate goes in between the trucks and the trucker of the oil truck freaks out (he thought a UFO got in his way) and an explosion occurs. Wow. I definetly think that my idea would help the games get a whole lot better. Also they should expand the jobs so that you'll be able to do any kind of job that has to do with driving. Plus it would be even better if you can create your own storyline and choose any path you'd like whether you're being chased down by cops as a gangster or even be a cop and you'll experience some of the biggest chases ever.
matt__jon
03-05-2006, 10:50 AM
I posted this in another thread the other day, but it needs to be here really:
Slo-Mo camera - forget what they called it - you can rotate the view of it with R2/L2 that way when the cameras behind something you can fix it rather than press the button a few more times (cause usually it keeps putting the camera behind stuff)
tanner needs to be in it, we need all the vehicles from the entire series in it, more hidden vehicles, maybe we should throw Daytona in just for the cool factor. we also need more and better weapons. make tanner able to plant C4, or maybe fire off bazookas. most importantly we need an AI that's not an artificial idiot for the cops...
john cena
03-05-2006, 01:59 PM
Well the weapon part isn't very important. We don't need tons of weapons when it would probably take too much time to do and Reflections wouldn't put in as much improvement into driving as they possibly could do. I think it's better if they stay with only a few weapons and work a lot more on vehicles. Or you know they could work on an entirely new project when they're done with Driver 5 and make a game that has to do with weapons as well as vehicles. It would probably be the best game ever. Also it should have some fighting moves just in case if you run out of ammo.

Yeah I guess a mission with a train wouldn't be too bad. It could start off with you being chased by the police and end up with you and your train being chased by the police and helicopters.
john cena
03-05-2006, 02:37 PM
It would be pretty cool to get chased by cops while you're driving a train. It's too bad Reflections didn't bother putting trains in DPL.
pirjay
03-05-2006, 03:10 PM
Or better yet, if they'd allow you to keep the train running, so you could walk inside the train, shooting at cop helicopters through the windows, that would be cool. Cause like Matt Jon said in another thread (or was it this thread?) driving a train is boring, you press X and you wait.
Mr. Tanner
03-05-2006, 03:37 PM
Well in SA, when CJ drives a train, he's using many controls at 1 time (when he starts it in forward, he releases the train and locomotive brakes, puts the reverser in forward, and applies the throttle) so in Driver 5, you should drive trains with EVERY control in the cab. Like X and up on a PS2 controller can put the reverser or johnson bar in forward, X to apply throttle (notched throttle with 8 notches on diesels), Square to decrease throttle (notched throttle with 8 notches on diesels), L3 for horn (push up on left analog stick & press L3 to sound horn, pull down on left analog stick & press L3 to sound bell, and many other controls can and should be activated, unlike SA where it's all done by 1 button to activate many features. Oh, today I bought a model of the Blues Mobile for $30.00. Nice model!

03-05-2006, 04:52 PM
Yeah I agree with both you pirjay and Mr. Tanner. Those are some great ideas and they really need to appear in the next Driver game.

Yes, walking inside the train is what I'd want to do, cause chaos, people would be jumping off the train, also climbing around on top, the side, or under the train a la mission impossible would also be cool, a little bit secret agenty for Driver, but it would be cool. Why do the bare minimum?
john cena
03-05-2006, 05:21 PM
Yeah it would be awesome. It reminds me of the one mission in SCPT where you had to interrogate Soth and later get off the train. I just loved walking on top of the train and holding onto the ledges of the side of the train. I wish that we could do that in D5.

You know what? That doesn't sound like a bad idea after all it would be pretty cool to see everything the way you normally see it and it would be awesome to shoot in the first person view. #1theman
03-06-2006, 01:47 PM
Yeah it would would it. Well you could still see the front end damage; like the hood bend, and if the doors fall off, and windshield breaks then that's all you would get. Maybe if they made an interior damage system, if your in a huge accident you can see the roof buckle, and the view would get a little smaller because
every has been pushed and pulled.
^ that's only if there is a detailed interior camera, like you the person eyes.

Yeah, I've seen the dashboard screenshots for that game, did you see any dashboard screenshots of Stuntman that were like that? Why did Reflections scrap that? :pout: :( I would put that kind of dashboard/1st person view in for Driver 5 as payback. You know Driver 5 should be the "Payback" of the series. You know, like having swimming, drivable trains, maybe flyable aircraft, the boats back, jumping, Tanner, and make it so that it could have the most of any Driver game.

I also remember playing Papyrus' Nascar, and the dash cam view was pretty cool. (Even though the 95' version of Nascar didnt even have a steering wheel on the dashboard.)
They should just make a dashcam view mandatory in every driving game.
