to desktop in I War 2.
Think I just (almost) finished the first real mission, with the Storm Petrol. Knocked off a couple baddies and then a few ships came in to my defense. Made an offer for some future trade. Very cool scenario.
Only problem is, it crashed to the desktop and I guess I lost that mission.
Running XP Pro/spec 2. G-force 4 4000 w latest drivers, Pent 4, 2 gig with 1 gig of ram.
Game is patched to 14.0
Not running in any compatability mode or using a wrapper. Actually was looking real great.
Any suggestions will be thouroughly appreciated.

F14.6 is the highest version patch, so that's something you should find.
EoC shouldn't really need a API wrapper, as it was written for DirectX 7
Also, the majority of game instability issues seem to be audio related. Check to see if your audio card driver is up to date. Also, in your game directory, look for flux.log, it may have logged the cause of your crash.
Hope you can get up and running again. Might have been an isolated incident too.

Many thanks Schnozbott.
I'm off to find that patch. Will check the game directory and report back if I run into a wall.
Err.. correction- patched to 14.6

Er...which folder is the log file?

The game's main folder, for example: C:\Independence War 2\flux.log
if you placed it in C:\ during install.

OK now I got it, Schnozbott.
I played out the two misions today before I checked out the log, so all I had recorded is for today.
I loaded the latest Creative Audigy drivers. Seems to occasionaly run a bit choppy in 98/ME emulation, but it didn't crash. Won't run at all if I take the hardware acceleration to off, as suggested by the fac.
Going to try again running straight XP with the new sound card drivers tomorrow. Also going to try loading the movies from #2 cd into the main eoc folder.
Appreciate the help.

Yeah, i haven't had any trouble running EoC without a compatibility mode set, it doesn't seem to mind XP with service pack 1 and/or 2.
