OK Kids here you go, the MNM Egypt set is now available for d/l.


This set contains the following:

In the Path Extras section: 1 Trash Bin

In the Scenery section: 15 scenery pieces, 6 path tiles (to cover existing paths)

In the Walls section: 20 wall pieces & 4 roof pieces

In the Scenario Editor you'll find the new Egypt Entrance


Now available, at www.modstothemax.net in the downloads section. You have to register on the forums to have access to the d/l section.

Awesome! When I saw "Egypt Theme" I thought, "silly marnetmar...we already have an egypt theme!"...but me being naive of course to the fact that egypt consisted more of columns and pyramids, I was very surprised and pleased to see what you've come up with! Hooray!

The funny thing is, I remember downloading your mod packs when I used to play Ultimate Ride, and I remember that gold pyramid very well. :D

I never knew you had the UR game grod lol I didn't make the original mod of the gold pyramid, but I did use the same textures for this model.

It should compliment Frontier's stuff very well.

If someone ever makes a Stargate your stuff and the SG would bridge the gap between Egyptian stuff and Sci-Fi

Anyhow excellent work as usual.

This stuff looks great. I felt that Frontier really missed the boat on the egypt theme - was very sparse, felt they could have added a lot more pieces. Yours makes up for that!

Dude you rock! I am so looking forward to this set, I was really bummed by the lack of selection in that theming area in Wild! but once this comes out it'll be great! Anyway we could get you to make an Obelisk base, tower section, and top (With or without hyroglyphics)? That way we could have whatever sizes we wanted and no one could complain it wasn't "just" the right size!

Looking forward to this set and being able to use it!

That could be done, but I would have to make it square & the same size, instead of having it taper to a smaller size at the top, which I don't think would look right.

I think the size is just about right now, I don't want them to be huge, you can see a comparison in the pic below.

How about making an Egyptian park entrance, you could put 2 obelisks next to each other and then some kind of bridge piece (with the scrolling sign for the park name) between them.

I was thinking about something like that Jonwil, but I'm not sure if I can get the scrolling sign part to work. I'll see what I can get figured out for it though, it would add a very nice touch to the theme.

You should be able to do the scrolling sign by making a seperate mesh for it and selecting the right option in the mesh properties dialog.
Study the .SID files I posted for a couple of the default entrances to see the correct settings to use. Make sure to set the type to "park entrance" and the params thing to "park entrance"

This set looks promising I will finally be able to make a full themed Egypt section in my parks. As for the trash can it looks okay it’s not your best modal but I would defiantly use it in my parks so please keep it in the set. As for trying to make a park entrance that would be really cool if you can get it to work.

Not sure i like those trees. They'd fit in well with a cartoony park ala Super Mario. But they stand out from the rest of the content in this pack, it's not the trunk, that looks ok, but the leaves look plastic, you need to find an alpha texture and apply it instead. Loving the walls, they look superb. One suggestion with the floor, could you put a few cracks in the tiles? Might age them a little bit.

Most likely around the end of this month Mad Man, I have several things I'm still working on & trying to get a few other ideas made & see if I can get them to work in the game. Then there's still the fun (not) task of making all the icons lol

This is looking really good! I agree that the palm trees look a little phony compared to the realistic textures used for the rest of this set. But I still like them. I wouldn't use them outside, as I think they'd look odd compared to the in-game foliage, but they'd be great as props inside a fantasyland style dark ride.

wow, fantastic looking set here, everything but the flora looks like its gonna fit well.

now for the palm tree, there should be a way to use the alpha maps in order to cut out the shape of the palm frond. in other 3d modelling programs, and plugins that specialize in flora, its a unique combination of flat planes and black and white alpha textures to outline the shape of the frond without using polygons to do the modelling.

here is a palm frond alpha i made for a date palm:

im sure you already know about alpha mapping - but i know thats what Frontier used when making their flora - if you set the textures to the lowest quality, youll see the basic polygons of every game peice. most everything is just boxes with a hole for a window, or door.

just something to think about - you keep at it, and you could have the best looking flora to date. great work marnetmar!

It's going to make the interior of The Spirit Temple SOOOOO much easier and nicer, definately. Fortunately, it's not a rush, I've got a ways to go.

But those three wall pieces look spectacular!:D

This will most likely be released at the end of January-early Febuary, right now it's up to 45 pieces with at least 5 more to go.

As for the palm trees, Thanks n747, I have a couple of textures for the fronds that should look very nice, however at the moment the alpha textures aren't cooperating with me lol I'm hoping to get them working to add to this set, if not I'll add them to the 2nd Egypt set that'll be coming in the future.

The walls in the pics above are textured with just the brown texture on the outside & the inside of each wall has the "border trim" on the top. I have a few more of the "inside" textures I'm working on to add a few more options for the walls.

Once again Thanks for all the compliments/ideas/suggestions everyone :up: , I hope you all enjoy this pack when it's released & that it gets a lot of use.

Marnetmar- this is a great set and I do like the palm trees as they are- I think they're a great addition- I can allways use the trees that come with RCT3's Adventure theme... My only gripe with the Frontier trees is that they are too short.

What does Stargate have to do with this? Stargate has something to do with Egypt. If you saw the movie, the pyramids in Egypt were actually Goau'ld starships, and the Goau'ld leaders all have names of Egyptian gods. But, hey, I'm just happy that Marn is making this set for us, because Frontier really half-assed the Egyptian theme in the game.

I know that the sphynx was brought up early on in the thread. However, I was wondering if you planned on making a large sphynx so someone could actually recreate the Gaza strip. A sphynx a little taller than the obelisk that you showed next to the park entrance would be perfect. :D


I'm planning on making a large sphynx for this, but my time to work on this theme has been very limited lately & to be honest, the sphynx will probably have to be added in the 2nd Egypt theme. I'm hoping to get the first one done fairly soon so everyone can use it.

Here's a little update for everyone, although it doesn't line up exactly right & needs to be resized as well (this was just a test model) I did manage to get an entrance in the game & although it looks a bit weird right now, the scrolling sign does work.

marnetmar - if you want to fix the scrolling text,

In the importer, there has a little error when you select the Texture Flags - 'Scrolling Sign' - which it will appear 'SIOpaqueUnlit' on the Texture Name which it is not right. So copy or find 'SIOpaqueUnlit' on the Texture Style Name, then you have to choose the any small square bitmap and referenced on Texture Name - Don't worry about this bitmap texture which that it won't take over the scrolling text texture. It is important to use any bitmap on texture name cos it will co-ord’ing the scrolling text area match from the ASE’s UV co-ord.

For entrance thing, you may need to set the effect point if you don't have it.

Very nice entrance but as iceacts pointed out the text is a bit strange. Aslong as your resizing it to make it a bit bigger i'm sure it will be perfect... Well done on the first custom scenery entrance i've seen :P.

I noticed that SIOpaqueUnlit error after a couple of crashes :haha: I changed it to SIOpaque & that fixed the error. I just need to get a few bugs worked out & then get the real entrance made. This one is just for testing purposes.

I think you should maybe leave one in the set that doesn't work fully as an entrance. Ussualy making transitions between two zones can be annoying without a proper entrance but i suppose if you make one that works as a main entrance and one that's just scenery it would be great.

Marn i had a fantastic idea.

Why not build a scrolling sign piece like you have for your entrance and have it seperate so we could add it everywhere.

Also an angled version of your paths liks shyguy has done.

Hopefully I'll have this all done & ready to release in the next few days. I made some good progress on the new entrance today, but there's 1 minor glitch to fix, the letters on the scrolling sign are upside down, but that should be an easy fix ;)

I know what you mean Dattu, but it would actually be easier to make a new entrance than to try to make something fit over the existing entrances. They'd have to be shaped to cover the in game ones & might not have the shape you wanted without making it larger than it should or needs to be.

I like the entrance, but I have one suggestion. Would it be possible to change the downward poles to smaller poles which are horizontal coming out of the oblisks (sp?)? I think it would look more natural. But heh, it's up to you - my skills are next to nowt :haha:

I've just tested it and it's great!!!
The textures are just perfect and all the scenery is so good you don't need to be a genious to know is made by marnetmar (with help, of course ;))
I love all the set.

Thanks everyone, I hope you all enjoy making some excellent parks with this set.

I did want to mention the Tut Mask prop (shown below) was not made by me, but was given to me several years ago by Cliff33 of MTTM.

It's a very high poly count & will disappear when you scroll back a little. How far I can't say for sure as everyone's system is different, but I would suggest using these sparingly ;)

If you mean in your park thread, you can always double post with updates, pics things like that. We just don't want people making posts like "bump" & things like that to bring their threads up to the top.

I was able to find the trees. I gust didn’t realize I was looking it the wrong spot. Rely nice work marnetmar this really makes Egyptian theming much more complete.

I can't get it to work!! I have all other custom theme parts and know how to get them in to the game. I tried both the exe and the do it your self. it did get to the file like all the rest but when i play it doesn't show up. This is also the problem i have with the beta arcade one. Please help!

Does it give you any kind of error message or it just doesn't show up in the game?

Are you trying to use these in a scenario or in a sandbox park?

It's available at MTTM in the Downloads section, but you have to register on the forums to have access to the d/l's. I forgot to change the link info before.

marnetmar, I wanted to tell you about it a long time ago, but forgot to. When I visit MTTM, I always start as logged in. However, wherever I go from the home page (Downloads or Forums), I end up as a guest and can't do anything about it. I have cookies enabled (which is why the home page loads with me logged in). It didn't use to do it before; I was able to post at the new forums in the past, but for the last week I simply can't do anything at MTTM. I've tried with both IE and Mozilla. What could I be doing wrong?

Well, I've just removed all cookies from MTTM and denied any new ones and it worked! It seems a bit strange, though, and I will have to log in every time I visit the site, but at least I'll be able to see it. I tried again to accept cookies (after it worked) and the problem occured again. So I will stick with no cookies allowed from MTTM. However, I think you might want to look into this issue.

Did you try downloading it again? Sometimes file downloads get screwed up & you have to get them again. Let me know if you get it working or not.

alright i got it but i had to download it from vodhin's page. the download from the modtothemax page is still damaged. (maybe it's just my computer) It's a nice set, especially the walls and roofs. thanks!

I'm not sure where you extracted the files in your game, but they should be in the following directory:

C/Program Files/Atari/RollerCoaster Tycoon 3/Style/Themed

Inside the Themed folder there should be a folder named MNM Egypt Theme
Inside that folder there should be another folder named MNM Egypt & 2 ovl files named style.common.ovl & style.unique.ovl The MNM Egypt folder contains all the prop ovl files & there are 95 of them. I hope this helps you get it working.
