coming from a man who has had no life and watched way too much tv. im pretty damn sure dbz was on the first and more popular animes that started this recent anime craze. im pretty sure others remember dbz then other animes following it like gundam wing kenshin tenchi muyo etc(im sure others remeber this too). anime has been around for ages obviously but this recent "anime craze" was kick started by dbz. i dont know but back in the day i recall mostly american cartoons on tv from a kid not japanese shows. i dont know what you people watched as kids but i dont recall seeing shows with japanese subtitles and songs and such.

and i said dbz deserves some RESPECT not love it to death i said it deserves some RESPECT you moron for popularizing the "anime craze" that has occured amongst this cult following that is slowly growing. though you people seem to deny dbz did this. so then what started this "anime craze" exactly?

your joe smoe person probably doesnt enjoy anime cause he hasnt heard of it yet ever think of that? im sure if some of these people sat down and watched it im sure theyd see it as good. course this is just normally how you get converted to a show by hearing of it and watching it and considering the wide variety of anime covering nearly all topics under the sun. from porn to aliens invading.

im not fascists or whatever. free speech is fine and dandy but face it people can have dumb views on stuff. whether is a retarded show a bad game or calling politician an honest man. people have dumb opinions they say dumb stuff people are naturally stupid for some reason at times. if we are so stupid obviously we will have dumb opinions sorry to break it to you but yes you can in fact have a dumb opinion. i dont care how anyone feels like digesting this everyone gets a dumb opinion from time to time im not saying you cant say your stupid opinion but when it gets called dumb dont be shocked cause it is dumb in this case the maker of family guy is a genious one of the funniest shows ever really its shocking finding so meone disagreeing. dumb opinion. me for instance i hate shakespeare and say hes stupid and thats probably a dumb opinion there but hey at least i admit it right? tho i can at least respect that mans work as well.

I don't like anime on the whole. I like the ones that aren't too predictable, and don't have people staring at each other for hours on end, repeating things over and over, or are otherwise boring. Naruto only squeezes in ahead of most animes because it's funny.

I disagree completely. Anime can appeal to ANYONE, there are ones aimed at those above and below 18, those who like realistic or unrealistic situations, those who like sport, drama, comedy and romance. Just because it's animated doesn't mean it would be childish, stupid or silly. Being animated is probably the only difference anime has with shows that have real live actors, without as many limitations.

I disagree completely. Anime can appeal to ANYONE, there are ones aimed at those above and below 18, those who like realistic or unrealistic situations, those who like sport, drama, comedy and romance. Just because it's animated doesn't mean it would be childish, stupid or silly. Being animated is probably the only difference anime has with shows that have real live actors, without as many limitations.

Albeit there are a few animes I could see them enjoying, Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent, but the average anime like Naruto, Zatch Bell, DBZ, One Piece, etc. would not appeal to them.

It all depends on the person, not every adult is the same.

btw the 'average' anime you named are aimed at people around 13 year olds, so i'm not surprised you'd think they wouldn't appeal to above 30 year olds. However the titles you named that would appeal to adults are just a few of many many others, better ones haven't been aired on TV.

things normally have a craze when suddenly out of the blue we see a massive increase in anime licenses being acquired id call that a sudden craze and urge for it. though thats just using common sense and the fact more and more people are slowly but surely liking these types of shows proves this one. more proof mangas suddenly in the past few years have been coming over and being sold in stores.

a prime example of a dumb opinion has been pointed out by you. one simple reason for it being a stupid opinion is you are saying 100% for a fact someone will or will not like something again another prime example dumb opinion. also note dbz and naruto and such that you listed are more for kids or have been dumbed down to the point that they can be aired for kids. so aside from the edited kids shows....

judges tell us what to think all the time they tell us what is right and what is wrong non stop dont even try and act like its wrong cause weve been doing it for years. hell we elect people to tell us what is right and wrong or legal and illegal so a judge ruling something as stupid is no different in the least.

oh 99% of tv is predictable and recycled storylines just the way tv is. the difference here in anime is as others said it can break rules of normal tv because it is a cartoon but still manage to be very good cause it relates to normal issues if it has too. its also easier to be fictional with and you can actually cut off a head no problems. anime is alot like normal tv but better cause it breaks these otherwise annoying limits and plus lack of reality tv shows is always a big plus. as said this is one reason anybody can like anime cause its really not THAT far off from regular tv its just all around cooler.

You know the Monty Python craze? When it was released way back when, the Black Knight scene didn't get a single laugh. everyone was horrified. Now, people are laughing their heads off at it. Different senses of humour. You might not think 12 oz. mouse is funny, but like Fabien with DBZ, I can look past it's horrendous animation and suchnot to see the hilarity of it all. Get over it. Some people like it, others don't.

The worst animé would have to be Neon Genesis Evangelion...I think that's the title. Or maybe Big O is the worst. Odd would hate me for saying it but I don't care much for Ghost in the Shell either. There are a lot of then I don't like. Like One Piece.

Kayne, there is no recent animé craze and there were a lot of animés before Dragonball Z.

Dragonball Z may be one of the more well known animés because of all the video games and the sales in the U.S., but in Japan I bet there are other animés people are more crazy about. I mean, they're made in Japan, a lot may not even be translated in English yet.

sorry for the delay i was a bit sick sleeping 16 hours out of the day and all and who knows what else.

if i think about killing you and then i go and kill you and i tell the judge but in my opinion killing someone who flicks me off or whatever is the ok thing to do hes going to call me a moron and probably say thats the dumbest opinion ever well probably a few more cuss words added in. the judge does and always has told us what we can and cant do and think cause often times ya know crimes are premediated just a tad. thats usually why people say dont think about doing it cause if you do your probably going to soon enough.

tv shows have recycled plots constantly to argue this is pure stupidity. shows very rarely hit TRUE originality anymore simply because weve nearly come up with everything under the sun at least in terms of imagination and creating stuff. shows all too often these days just fall under your same old horror type of shows,romance shows,action shows, sci-fi etc. but the basic punch remaining the same a couple falls in love and always goes through impossible odds everytime. or maybe your classic vampires try and kill everyone or next time your robots lets not forget the love story that seems to occur in nearly every show these days. only real differences are what setting they put it in but they do reuse characters and storylines non-stop for you to watch tv and not notice this is baffling. animes only real breaking of the rules is they arent as censored because they dont work with actual people and they arent limited to what they can do because you arent using CGI special affects your using pen and paper. or more accurately today some paint program. but anime uses the same concepts and principles more often than not. instead of classic love story anime might do classic love story easily traveling through space fighting through aliens and whatnot(call me crazy but you get the point) simply cause its mroe fun to draw that but you still have a sane story line behind all of it. usually very close to your shows with real people. i dont know how you cant pick up on this.

Okay, now for all of those who really love anime, we've seen the best and we've seen the worst. For me, the best anime is DBZ, as you all know. Now as the fans of anime that we are, we also witnessed some of the worst anime as well. So I decided to start this topic so you all can post which anime you think is the worst. So...what's the worst you people have seen?
The worst anime is (I hope I'm spelling this right) "BoBoBo BoBo BoBoBo.":bulb: I hate that show.:sour:

DBZ used to be my favorite but I'm more into "Inuyasha," "Full Metal Alchemist," "Naruto," and "Samuri Champloo" now.

ive never seen FLCL.im normally watching TNA wrestling on mondays when it airs so never got around to seeing it. and for some reason just never got around to seeing it before that. though if i acquire it somehow otherwise we shall see. so if i see it sumtime ill let ya know otherwise sorry ask again(and no im not saying this just cause i hear its one of the stranger animes floating around)

shark giving a mouse a ******* i dont know that just sounds pretty freakin stupid. mousing blowing up stuff could be interesting if the show didnt look like crap since blowing up is fun if it looks cool(just a standard). if show is that simple sounding yea just whats the point of it? cause its not like i see some hidden sadistic joke behind all of this but if there is feel free to let me know otherwise sounds pointless random.

im not saying shows dont ever try and be different but scrolling through every station for hours on end lots of these shows tend to start blending together they just dont try as hard as i usually see anime shows look quite a bit different. though as said this is mostly due to its drawn and not limited by humans and cgi. but i was mainly saying the similarities start to come in cause they deal with same type of issues and all shows do this so thats why all shows tend to have that predictablity element. except i suppose in the case of a shark doing a mouse which i fail to make sense of so well leave that has the always exception there.

I finished watching Tenjho Tenge. I didn't like the endong, cause theres so much stuff that's not even answered. I still like the series though, even though they didn't tie it up neatly, like EVA.

I use Fabien frequently as an example because most people here respect him. Almost everyone on here (from what I've seen) would admit that Fabien is definitely one of the more intelligent on the forum. As such, his name commands a bit more respect than mine, and if ever he should side with me (willingly/knowlingly or not) I'm quick to take advantage of it.

Mangas are always better than their anime counterparts. For example, 1 Piece(though not my type of manga) is far more violent and serious than its anime counterpart, which is downright sucky.
DBZ and DB are prime examples of this. In the Buu saga(and just about every other one), you'll see how much quicker you'll get to the end than by watching the anime.

Now for the most overrated shows.
InuYasha: plotless. Pretty much every episode ends with Inu killing some demon dude, and/or Miroku flirting with some girl. I'm getting tired of fangirls claiming this **** is a masterpiece.
1 Piece: Honestly, this is one of the most overrated shows on TV. In my opinion it's one of the worst shows ever.
Fullmetal Alchemist: WAY overrated. People say this is a good show but it's very boring and horribly overrated.Obviously it wasn't very sucessful considering it ended at ep.51. Focuses too much on emotions and blah blah blah.
Pokemon: THE WORST SHOW EVER. Pretty much every episode is the same; TR attempts to steal a random pokemon and gets blasted by a random attack followed by a thunderbolt. Very repetitive. Why would they turn a rather good game like Pokemon into such a stupid kiddy show?
Naruto: Now this was an okay manga to start out with, but the anime(the dub at least) was pretty much unbearable.

The voices and dub are almost the same thing, you get terrible voices BECAUSE of a terrible dub. The original is good, and the same goes for One Piece (i couldn't stand the English dub of that).

Actually it has been VERY successful, it ended at episode 51 due to that being the end of the story (as planned), not because it wan't successful. Many series end at around 26 episodes, it doesn't mean they weren't successful.

I played Riviera too! My friend from school introduced me to it and I really liked it! When hurricane Wilma passed on by down here, we had no power for one week and didn't have school the following week either. The game was awsome and it was a nice thing to do to pass the time by. I finished the game by the end of the second week. It'd be cool if they had a sequel, it became a manga or an anime!! Wouldn't you agree?

When I originally started posting here, way back in ye olden day of November '04, there was no "DBZ CC". Instead, there was the DBZ B3 section. I happen to thoroughly enjoy the games, if not the series. As such, I came onto these forums to exchange passwords for it. As popularity for B3 diminished, I was compelled to stay because of bonds of friendship I'd forged with some members, as well as an attatchment to the board itself.

And besides, not much is more entertaining than explaining to a 9-year-old why his favorite show is quite unappealing.

From what I've seen, none of the above could ever possibly be interested in anime. Common sense(or logic) would say that if all previous encounters occur a particular way, future cases should yield similar results.

The anime Howl's moving castle has been nominated for an oscar, i have no idea how the nomination process occurs but adults of ages 40+ probably had some input.

One reason why the average 45 year old american probably isn't interested in anime is because they haven't been introduced to any anime. Like i said before, i can almost guarantee that there is an anime for every person.

Let's call them comedy animes, and group 'em with shows like one piece.
