the worst is definatly bo-bobo. i cant believe shonen jump actually wasted space in their monthly issues by adding bo-bobo, its retarded...its a comedy manga/anime but it fails horribly at being funny, hamtaro, shinchan, duel masters and all crappy anime like that even kill this show

- dragonball/dragonball/dragonballGT(the dub isnt completly horrible, i actually like gokus voice better than his japanese counterpart, but the TV version was just horrible they made it Y7 and couldnt even have yamcha say "im not wearing any underwear" and they couldnt even let them say "kill" i got the uncut dvds before the buu saga aired and i noticed every time they said "killed" "murdered" "death" "die" it was replaced in the tv version. the uncuts arnt bad though)

digimon(seasons 1-4 = ass. savers looks like its gonna be ass too)


pokemon(well sence 4kids lost rights theyve cut down on the pointless edits and a few of the horrible puns but its still not to its potential. they should release an uncut box set with like 50 episodes in a set. they cant even have references to god, i can handel them editing the cursing(even if it is as light as "hell" or "damn") but they shouldnt change plots of episodes and even change the plot of the ENTIRE 1st movie)

shin-chan: sadly the japanese version is even worst

yugioh: yeah the main character is funny looking as hell. the other characters look pretty cool though and the story isnt terrible, the dragged out 5 episode card battle annoyed me to the point of not watching most episodes though

inuyasha: too much filler, tooooo much. not good filler either. the part thats not filler is great though.

power puff girls Z: power puff girls z? ppgirls + dragonballz? i seen a trailer for ythis somewhere but never watched it, it was like a WTF anime, the american version was bad enough as a parody of astro boy, now they make it into a cheesy anime that they want to pass off as serious?

BTW, i heard a while back that this is going to get a timeslot on toonami or miguzi sometime in 2007

Like I said before, I think the shows is funny in japanese because almost all of the humar is around puns the are lost in the translation and I like it btw
Hamtaro is kodomo, it's made for like kids most of them girls so it's normal that you don't like, but they're realy cute:D
I loved the first seasons of Digimon until the 4th one, it just looks terrible, I mean the kids doesn't even have digimons, they became digimons, it's stupid
I also liked duel masters, it's not one of my favorite shows but it's not that bad
The Pokemon series get a little worst every series in my opinion, but I still like them for some reason
Why did they edited Shaman King? It doesn't heve that much violence when you compare it to One Piece for exemple
I think yu-gi-oh is a good show but it can became a little boring sometimes when the battle s are too long
Shin-chan is one of my favorite anime of all times, I just LMAO when he does his ass dance:haha::haha:, and in the portuguse version there was not much penis jokes so maybe it's just the american that sucks:p

Anybody who says Sailormoon sucks obviously hasn't seen the Japanese version. Even though I'm a guy, this just happened to be the first anime I ever watched. The last season is arguably the best and it was never shown in America and even if it was shown, it would be edited, cut, and censored to all hell.

I'll admit that the Sailormoon dub was terrible but the one piece dub (4kids version) is even worse than that. Every time the intro came on TV, I would not hesitate to change the channel. The 4kids dub of One Piece is easily the worst dub in history.

about hikaru no go, apperently some people like it for its drama and story. it bores me to tears because using a board game as a medium to center a story around just doesnt appeal to me, but then again i like action anime only. its ashame, the main characters character design is pretty cool looking, it could have suited a show like pokemon, yugioh or digimon much better

Tom Goes To The Mayor is an American show, so therefore technically not anime.

Anime is Japanese cartoons, though in Japan they call all cartoons anime (including American shows).

If we were going to say bad American animation then these shows would win (lose) hands down.

After the Kioto saga with the defeat of Shishio, the author stoped writing the manga for some time so they started adding fillers to the anime
but the fans got tired of the fillers so the show was canceled
in the manga the is one more saga that tells the story of Kenshin if I'm not mistaken, I haven't read it yet

The psychological (like DeathNote and Code Geass) Shounen are pretty tight.

The reason Kenshin's ending sucked is because it got cancelled. The OVAs suck compared to the manga.

Tenjho Tenge was pretty lame, but it isn't the worst by far. It was really weak in story and script. They put in some violence and boobs to try and hook people.

Chobits sucked, pokemon got really really repetitive, but was ok at first (also the original intro song was freakin' sweet)... there was a wrestling anime on like fox once that sucked, i think that's the one where they used food to create warriors to fight for them/with them like rice man, was made of rice and stuff.. that was so stupid... Never was a big fan of digimon either... anyway those are list of some of the worst ones for me.. also yu gi oh got really old after awhile as well....

I'd say it's about around the level of bleach imo.. it was just an action anime, that instead of other social plot just used this whole little love triangle, adn large breasts to fill up the space, whcih they did, since they were large, inbetween fights... well i guess there was also training scenes before fights, and story lines about how people are developing new skills but for the most part yeah it was large breasts, and fights... and this love triangle was the social interaction, and primary storyline for the show..

I think you are talking about Ultimate Muscle which is also known as Kinukuman (or something like that). It was based off of a toy in Japan. Which we also got called MUSCLE. They were these kind of neat little figures that came in a garbage can package, you could trade & collect them. I used to have quite a few of them.

Some of the wrestlers in the show/toy were based on real wrestlers in Japan & a few from the USA (such as Terryman, who was based off of Terry Funk).
Of course since 4Kids handled the US version of the show, they turned it into a complete joke of a show. With all it's weird songs about milk.

I realize that a few of the people here are relatively new to the anime world. So I will explain a few things. In order for a show to be broadcast in the USA, they have to dub it, and also edit anything that could be considered offensive to the target audience. Which unfortunately is usually seen as boys under the age of 10. That is why they made so many changes to "Girly" shows like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, and even Mew Mew Power. Also it is why they cut so much violence from shows like One Piece. Lately they have been doing a slightly better job of not editing as much as they once did, mostly cause people are getting used to seeing violence in cartoons now, even though it had always been there before, it was mostly used for slapstick humor. Like in the Road Runner cartoons.

Until the invention of Cartoon Network, cartoons were shown on normal UHF channels, and thus fell under more scrutiny. Also they had to be a certain number of episodes to be shown on a weekday basis, which is why some shows got combined into shows not related in any way to other shows. Such as Robotech, and Captain Harlock & The Queen of 1000 Worlds.

Back in the early days of anime fandom, VHS tapes were the only way to see certain shows in Japanese. They passed around 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th generation copies of shows (Recordings of recordings of recordings, etc) which were almost impossible to even see the sub-titles that the fans put on them (this was the begining of fan-subs). This was usually done in Colleges, or at comic book conventions in the areas not used by anyone else.

This brought certain people together who wanted a better way of showing the anime that they loved. They went on to form ADV Films, and the rest is history.

It was ultimate muscle, the show that is... As a general rule of thumb the japenese version of something is much better than the american alteration of the anime... just because the japenese voice actors take so much more time and effort into expressing their characters, since anime is a lot bigger of thing there, they can pay voice actors more, which attracts better talent etc... And also you have to understand anime there is supposed to be watched by adults as well as kids... so when it gets converted over to english not only is the voice acting a lot worse, many times the anime itself gets ruined by what they're taking out of the plot line...

While there are some really good American version of anime such as Full Metal Alchemist has a good enlgish dub, as well as Princess Mononoke has a decent one...

But yeah i was refrencing the english dubbed version of ultimate muscle, but i highly doubt i'd like it anyway if i saw the japenese, but it's possible...

and i'm not sure if this is the same one.. i do remember an anime that dealt with like food creations and people fought with them, and i remember rice-man (or whatever it was called in particular) was some creature made of rice that fought other things...

King Kong verse godzilla was pretty sweet... as was the godzilla episodes where they had the giant robot help him.. it's funny though in the actual movies (the olders ones) as godzilla being a guy in a suit, which i'm guess is how they did it.

I agree that some anime does sound better in Japanese, but lately dubs have been improving quite a bit. I think it is cause America finally gets that anime is not just some cartoon, but more like a work of art.

Another thing to think about when we talk about bad anime, is that not all anime is going to mesh well with our own personal likes. For example I could not stand the Ceres Celestial Legend series, but someone else may have loved it.

A lot of the shows we have mentioned have rather large groups of die-hard fans, and some have been going for a long time.

How so? I seen GX and being I seen the first one through it was much better. GX had no plot. and only late on in its series do you see Kaiba. Tho I have yet to see the dubs get far enough for that appearance. Once it happens ill start on from there.

But GX is just way lame. "crap i gotta past a duel exam or i fail" wow okay a academy for duel monsters.. K not much to really learn. Except how to play a card and how to use one in each and every given situation. And that just takes common sense and knowledge to do.

However where the heck did it even get good at? When Jaden got transfered? Not even. Ya only see one guy with what looked like a mock Millienium Necklace and seeing how All the items went buried and destroyed at the end with the Yugi .vs. Optem (if i remember was Yami's actual name) duel.. There is no chance in heck its a time paradox type of timeline Seeing how Bakura has the Necklace until the end of it all with the final duel. so explain how the kid that is frigging military strict get a mock or look alike variant

Ichigo 100% is one of the best manga I've ever read! Manaka Junpei is really a good guy, and I love all the characters, and I was satisfied with the way it ended. Not happy, because my girl (I guess) didn't win, but I approve of the victor.
