View Full Version : RCT3 UCEP
Well I was co-leader of a Sims 2 User expansion, and I just thought, RCT3 UCEP! (User created expansion pack) All scenery creators should come together as 1 and form a great UCEP.
First of all, we need to create a theme that we can work on, such as Soaked! and Wild! After doing this we should then create walls, objects, theming and anything to create 2 or 3 new scenery packs. Although we cannot make rides, there's nothing else stopping us from creating something we shall be proud of. Even if you only submit 1 item, it shall be gladly accepted :)
Basically, there should be perhaps 3 different themes with this, the 3rd to make up for the fact we can't make rides. Each theme should be fully made to the extent that we really can't think of anything else to do.
Then, we can make any kind of miscellanious objects that people may find interesting.
Hopefully if the improter gets updated soon, we shall be able to make paths, further extending what can be in this pack.
Who's in?
Please post ideas etc here.

This is a cool idea. I think that it would work. If someone could figure out the rides, that would be really cool!

The UCES for RCT2 was a big success. I think, that could work for RCT3 too. But it could be difficult to motivate all well-known scenery artists for this project.
Maybe they have a few scenery-objects from side-projects or for tests that they want give away for that set, but I can't believe, that they will add all their talents for an UCES as you can see here too. No-one of the artists had replied.

Well, if others want to work with it, then i'll come into it as well.
The one area where i think the game is really shoddy is the sci-fi theme, which is, to summarise in one word. Crap.
But then again, theres so many themes, Roman, Spanish, Elements, etc.
What might be an idea, is to wait for the next expansions name. Then we should know what will be added, and we can decide on a theme that won't be done by atari.
Either way, if this is to be serious. You need a library of set textures. If each person creates new textures for it, it will get messy.

Great idea, Froggee! Possible ideas for this 'UCEP' could be:
RCT: Frozen! (lame name, but I know many people want a winter themed expansion)
RCT: Spooked! (again, a lame name, but same reason above)
RCT: Midway! (same as above)
All of those suggestions above are what I think most people want, but....
What I personally would like to see is an expansion pack based on ruined temples. I feel that RCT3 is lacking in the broken temple wall peices (I believe there are only two?), and there are so few boulder peices, and vines, and many objects typical to a 'ruin' setting.
A couple objects that would be cool for a RCT: Ruined! (lol) expansion pack could be:
-Snake pillars
-Vines (could be integrated to fit on any wall type[in other words, the vines are a seperate object])
-Boulders (some big round boulders, and then some smaller, more rectangular boulders)
-ruined temple walls with ancient text
-religious temple idols
-scaffolding
-netting
-large set of random ruined walls, you could possibly look at SheiKra (http://pictures.ask.com/pictures?q=SheiKra&qsrc=31&o=0) or Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye (http://pictures.ask.com/pictures?q=Indiana+Jones+and+the+Temple+of+the+Forbidden+Eye&qsrc=31&o=0) for inspiration and design layouts.
Just some suggestions/ideas. Feel free to turn me down at your leisure. :noob:
Edit: Some more good ideas could be:
-Boardwalk theme
-Roman theme
-Futuristic theme
-Caribbean theme
Edit[2]: I would also love to help, but as I have no experience with any 3D program, I'm afraid I'll be of no use...

This sounds like a good idea if you can get it off the ground. I would be interested in helping create scenery for this as long as I have the time and the ability to do what is need.

I think the reason people haven't replied is that we all have our own projects going at the moment & most likely not a lot of time to work on those, much less taking on more at this time.
With our own projects, we can work as we have time & if something in life comes up & we need to put it aside for a few days, no big deal.
Right now I have several project's going on at the moment, all in various stages of development, testing, etc. I tend to get burned out from time to time on a project if I work on it too much & like to be able to jump from one thing to another when the mood strikes.

This is exactly what I want for custom scenery. I you guys do, do a UCEPs these things would help tremendous in themeing.
Another Idea is to actually finish some of the already in game sets. ie: Pirate, Jungle, and Futuristic. This would be a tremondous help.

I am working on that right now. See my thread http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=510178
for a picture.
The set will have nearly everything in it from the real ride

RCT3 UCEP! (User created expansion pack) All scenery creators should come together as 1 and form a great UCEP.
Great idea, Froggee!
Actually RCT3 Extended (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=484158) was a growing community project, which had creating an UCEP as one of its main goals. Almost all scenery-makers had agreed to be part of the project. But, due to unforseen reasons, the project had to be put on hold.
I hope to get it back on track sometime during the end of this month...
Would you be interested in joining it? :)
Potter, maybe if both our UCEPs work sortta together but on different ideas, creating like a super UCEP?

Should not be a problem, Froggee...
But, why work on two similar projects when the Extended project had already done some basework and most of the current scenery-makers are in the project ? And, of course, even a single UCEP is anyway going to be based on different ideas to support multiple themes...
I am not discouraging from creating a parallel project, but Extended can always do with additional coordination :) I leave it to you to decide...

2 seperate can't hurt. I think of it like when Sims2 UCEP were created people had sims 2 superstar (the project is helped with.) and stuff like sims2 vampies (before nightlife came out.) etc etc. 2 Different dieas can't hurt.

I understand, Froggee... and, I never said that there should not be 2 different ideas. What I meant was that there can any amount of UCEPs, but all could be clubbed under the Extended community project as subprojects. That might help to standardise a lot of things...
As you might have known, Extended is not just for creating UCEPs, it is a big community initiative for creating tools, object exchange, idea exchange, standardising modding, and a lot more. And, it has already different themes planned for 3 potential UCEPs ( I vaguely think so :) !)
But, all this is just for your information and is in no way discouraging you from starting another parallel project. If you still think that you would want to start a different one, go ahead! I would be glad to work together if you want. All the best for your project
