i've used a few cad programs for my course, but they are impractical mainly because your'll struggle to find a .3ds converter. And few i think have UV texturing which is essential.

If i could use a cad program making models would be much easier than making them with anim8or, which is like trying to eat soup with a fork. (your'll get there eventually but only with a lot of fraustration.)

But its free and i know it quite well so i put up with it.

I havent attempted to make custom scenery myself but i have been able to get Pro/Desktop designs into 3Ds Max at college. I dont know what to do from there but i believe you can make scenery from objects in 3Ds Max.

You have to export the PD model as an .stl file and then open it in 3D's Max.

If you look at the price of 3Ds Max you will be suprised. I have it and i got it of my dad, who got it for £400 because of his work/job he is doing.
The normal price is LOADS more.
