Just another quick update.

Watching the other Galaxy Angel shows (a bit out of order, cause AA vols. 3 & 4 are delayed from Netflix.)

Must say that Rune is a bit too different for my tastes. As for the other (Galaxy Angel X), the new character they add was not really needed IMO.

Still looking to buy Moribito vol. 5 but for some reason, it is an elusive DVD to get. Supposedly only the South Austin Best Buy got any. I checked at Fry's today, but no luck...Maybe I will just get the 3rd Death Note movie instead.

BTW has anybody noticed (besides myself) that Borders and Barnes & Noble have stopped carrying the School Rumble manga??

Aye I noticed that in the nearby B&N by the apartments I live in. No clue as to why when I asked, but I have a feeling they are doing as told and won't say a thing. Prolly go to the Borders down at one of these malls and see tomorrow.

You know what, I totally forgot to mention a title that I borrowed from Netflix.

Pretty fun title: Magic Users Club. Basically it is about a group of high schoolers who have a Magic club, and it is NOT the Illusion kind, but the real deal. The planet has been invaded by aliens, and they try to use their power to stop them. That ends up making a HUGE cherry tree, and later somehow, one of the girls magic comes to life as a guy (who looks a lot like a girl).

I rented the first 2 volumes of Ah, My Goddess (1st season).

Thought that it is pretty good, so I will be getting the rest through Netflix.

Also Netflixed Doki Doki School Hours. Pretty funny so far, sort of a cross between Azumanga Daioh/Pani Poni Dash with an older teacher who is really tiny.

BTW I also rented the Dragonball Evolution DVD recently, quite frankly it was not quite as bad as I thought it would be. In fact some of it was mildly entertaining.

So I finished Doki Doki School Hours, pretty fun little show.

Also finished Ninja Nonsense as well, which was sort of like a Ninja version of Galaxy Angel (random comedy with very little plot).

Rented the live-action Mushi-Shi movie, and I thought it was pretty good, not quite as good as the anime/manga but still good. If you get the chance, go and check it out.

Also Netflixed L: Change the World. Not as good as the other Death Note movies, but still kind of fun. Might be purchasing it in the future (to complete the Death Note "set").

I am currently watching Popotan, an interesting show with some sort of time-traveling house. Lots of female nudity, so it's definately not for the kids. I finished watching this show, but I accidentally watched the 3rd DVD before watching the 2nd, oh well I guess I did not miss much (I decided not to bother watching the 2nd DVD). Boy was this show sad near the end!

Got Jing: King of Bandits, very interesting show, lots of action. The only problem is they never really explain how the heck that bird "Kir" shoots those laser beams, or how Jing became "the King of Bandits". Unless it is in the OVA (which is not availible on Netflix?)

So any body else see anything new and cool recently? Don't be shy, and don't let me hog the spotlight. This is the place to discuss any anime series, be it old, new, or even coming soon.

Today I watched Millenium Actress, and boy was it very good! Kind of sad, and very nice as well. The thing that I don't understand about this movie (and some of the more recent "critically acclaimed" anime movies) is that they decided not to dub them and release them in the theaters. If they did that, they would become (IMO) more popular and more acclaimed.

I'd have to agree, they decided to show Memories of Nobody a while back in various theaters before it finally got dubbed. Perhaps funding or perhaps the demographic of viewers is sporadic.
E: On another note, I may try and get tickets to go and see a dubbed screening of E7:GNSTYL at a nearby theater. One thing I like about where I live for the moment is everything is like in walking distance, not to mention a fathom events sponsored theater as well. Unlike back in GA where I had to drive hours to just find someplace or attend things.

OOps, I forgot that I also watched Indian Summer. It is sub-only and only 3 episodes long, and yet is like $25 at Best Buy...from Sentai Filmworks (AKA ADV).

It was pretty good, obviously not for the kids, cause loads of boobs. Lots of cosplay & sort of a harem type show. If it was a bit cheaper, I might be tempted to grab it.

While I still am very anti-fansub/download, I can see why people might choose them over a DVD, especially if you are on a really tight budget...

Well the main guy is an otaku who collects loads of figures to dress up, he buys a robot maid (sort of like Chobits, but more human, in fact she kind of looks like Eri Sachikawa off of School Rumble). He buys her to dress her up in several costumes. Of course for some reason, he is also beset by other girls who like him as well (including a kid, her well-endowed mom, and a waitress at a cafe)

Hey, what is Garden of Sinners about? I saw Kalifina (the people who did the theme song) live and the song got me interested in the anime ^^;

Well according to Wikipedia...

It is an offshoot of the Tsukihime series, and features some of the characters of that series, and people with similar powers to that series. According to them, Del Ray is going to be publishing the novels in the USA, not sure if the anime movies (there are several) will get any sort of release. Mostly due to the fact that Tsukihime is based on an H-game (which is not appropriate for this board...), so I would guess that this would be pretty similar...

It doesn't have an actual story as each movie has it's own plot, though they are all kind of connected.
It's definitely a must watch (the animation is simply superb btw). Now I just wish the DVD for the 7th, and last KnK movie, would be released soon (though it will probably only be released next year).

Just finished watching Rocket Girls, pretty cute show about teenage girls going into space. Kind of randome that they did not do a dub, but it was pretty good anyways.

Also watching Ah! My Goddess season 1 as well, of course it is a pretty fun show as well.

If it is anything in realation to the Ah! series, then nope.
Also the E7 movie was a blast, was nicely done, and the free tickets were worth it XD

OK from what I read on the back of the Ah! My Budha DVD, it sounds like a series that has a mess of fanservice just to have fanservice...

Now watching Kenichi The Mightest Disciple (season 1). OK show, but not that great. Pretty glad I held off from buying it.

How is Sgt. Frog??? Saw that in the store, and it looked pretty fun.

They named it that for no reason, and it's low quality and fanservicey.

Queens Blade

Good man

Kayro thinks it's epic, so you should just watch it. I personally have a few of the movies but haven't gotten a chance to watch them.

OK a small update...

I rented the first volume of Ah! My Budha. It was pretty much what I thought it would be, a show set up just to have random fan-service. Nothing remotely like the much better Ah! My Goddess series.

I also rented the first half of Sgt. Frog. I only ended up watching the first disc. It was a kinda funny show, but obviously not really my style.

I rented the first half of Bamboo Blade, and I liked what I saw. Probably going to grab this series in the future.

Just to let you guys know, I have been selling off quite a bit of my old anime/manga. Mostly the ones that I really had no plans of trying to re-watch/re-read.

I also have been re-watching several of my DVDs of certain shows, this time in the Japanese language version.

Also since I am currently watching my parents house (they will be back soon) I did a VOD of the Anime Network. It was the first episode of Destiny of the Shrine Maiden (or something like that). It was very random. Basically it starts out like a shojo/yuri show with girls liking each other, then suddenly a bunch of giant robots show up...
