UT runs too slow

I have U.T. G.O.T.Y. and whenever I try to play it, it runs really slow, even the U.T. desktop takes forever to do anything, I have windows xp professional, Athlon xp2100, 512mb ddr ram, geforce fx5700le with the version 81.98 drivers. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the drivers as it did the same with the previous set, and the problem only seems to have started when i upgraded my graphics card. Any suggestions?

What card did you have before, and what all processes are running in the background on your system when you try to run UT? Laptop or desktop? Boxers or briefs? Steak or pork chops?

go here (http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/) and download the latest opengl driver, install and change to opengl... instant screen change!

oh, and i think its something to odo with the newest d3d drivers... i know it used to be fine with my 51.XX driver, but everything from 6X upwards was dodgy.

I've run the 81.98 drivers and now the 82.42 drivers and UT runs smooth as could be in D3D for me. I have a Pentium D 3.2/7800GTX SLI. I was worried it would cause lockups and things like that, but what a relief to find it works. And it looks oh so good at 8X AA/16X AS.

Anyway, just letting you know the current drivers work with the game (at least on some systems), but OpenGL does look better and it performs better too.
