I started a project making Swings and slides and stuff for the kids.

only problem is when i try to put the ASE files into the importer, the importer crashes. Are there any ways around this?

You might try remaking the ASE files, sometimes there's an error when converting to the ASE format & making them again will fix the problem.

nm i figured out my problem. The objects were too large. Anyway. Here is some other stuff i am planning on making.

Woah! That looks sweet. Only problem is that real playgrounds are colourful and it would take forever to make that single playground piece recolourable let alone a set.

ouch is that a wooden slide? lol. you might to use more than one texture next time you run it through the importer it looks great btw

"I dont want to ride slide one, I might get a splinter in my A**"

Thatd be great! :haha: Maybe make the Slide look like plastic.

Hey! that came out great! Huge, but great! You might consider using solid colors for the different meshes for now, you'll be able to make them recolorable more easily later.

Is that a complete piece of scenery or is it made from different pieces?

It's a complete piece of scenery. I am going to make separate colorable slides and swings if i can figure out how to make them colorable.

Oh, btw, the wood is polished like a bowling alley so no splinters:haha:

What program are you useing to create this?

What program are you useing to create this?

4 programs: Photoshop for texturing and 3dsmax 6, Sketchup 5 and Milkshape for modelling. One program doesnt do everything i want it to, so i use them all. :)

Actually the above model was done in Sketchup than imported as an object into 3dsmax where i mapped it and created the ASE file.

Looking good except the texture can use some work. Using sold coolers would probably be the easiest.

ok here is a colorable version. It's only one color because i had to merge the parts together into one solid model. The game kept crashing because of too many meshes. At least i think that was the problem. It stopped when i merged them, so here is the result.

in my opinion the red one looks the best, idk why you had a crash but when your in ms you might want to assign a different texture from the wood and the colory stuff only two should work as long as you assign them right if you cant do it without a crash no worries it looks great!

You really need to size these down quite a bit. They are way to large

Are they Peep accesable?

Dkimber1974
06-11-2006, 11:23 PM
Peeps can go under and around them but not on them. :(

Oh and i do plan on resizing everything.

I have a suggestion on the peices and what shoud be recolorable.

On the original set i outlined what should be recolorable in red
http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/430/recolor5kd.jpg

On the swings i outlined what should not be recolorable in gray
http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/192/swingmetal2du.jpg

Hope this helps

I like how they are all one color, It gave me an idea for my next ride! I can't give too much away, but let's say that the ride flys past a burnt down school... and those are perfect for the "burnt" look!
