Custom Table Q

Okay I have a question about the custom tables. I love them, but how do I get the benches to go all the way around them like I've seen some people do? It won't let me do it.

If you have a 3x3 Path area delete everyother one like in the diagram. the place the benches all the way around that one tile and place the table. The fill in the empty spots.
