I have been having trouble with Shy's Main Street Pack 3. I have been able to use it many months before this happened. In fact, yesterday I started to make ticket booths with it. But today, I loaded RCT3 pulled up the pack put the cusor over the Brick 1H piece and boom, RCT3 minimizes and error report shows up (it crashed). I have reinstalled all scenery and the only thing i can think of causing the problem is the new options I put in.
Help please

What's the new options? maybe you should change it back - if it all works again, then that change caused the error...

the problem is I dont know what the the original options are, I dont want to accidentally delete an option thats suppose to be there. If some on could post what it in their options list. To find it all you have to do is go My comp/local C/documents&settings/yourname/application data/atari/rct3/options
If you could do that, that would be great

Ah, you didn't follow the first rule of experimentation: allways make a backup of your original. Unfortunately, every PC is different, and your options were created by RCT3 when it was installed. It might be sest to reinstall again...

The wall crashes my system sometimes too, make sure you close any programs that are running in the background and run RCT3 right after you boot up your computer, that way more ram is free. I think that's how I solved the problem on my system.

I think RAM might be that problem. After all my computer was built by me a couple years ago to work perfectly for Call of Duty. I have 2 gig worth a memory that I was going to put in to help RCT3 but every time I put it in an error occurs. I assumed it was not made for my motherboard. I forget how much ram i have but it might be 80 G(does that sound right).

There are still a few glitches in the Main Street Sets. I used a special feature, called Texture Referencing, to make the files smaller. It caused lot's of crashes. The brick walls still use this, as after many days of testing, they seemed to work okay. After reading this thread, I opened up the Main Street Set 3 and tried it out myself. My system crashed! I reloaded the game and tried again, and then it worked fine.
This is something I can probably fix, if need be. The 1H brick wall is the only one that could cause a crash. The other brick walls should be fine. Let me know if it's still causing crashes, and if any other pieces do the same. When I get some time, I'll see what I can do.

If you delete your entire options.txt file, RCT3 will automatically make a new one upon re-load. I think that's one of the reasons you need the disk to start (besides copy protection).

Shyguy,
First, let me give you a big  for all of your hard work. The quality of user-created content for this game has not suffered the jump the 3D that I feared it would back when playing RCT2. You and the rest of the active community here are a credit to this game.
I've been trying to play CedarPoint420's (judging from screens) excellent recreation of Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. He has used several of your sets and I am having the dreaded "No :svd for :sid" error. I've made sure that I have all of the required add-on paks for his park (all 3 MS, circus, Apline 1 & 2, Expo). I made sure that none of the add-ons were "nested" with extra subfolders. My PC has 2G of ram and I've upped my virual memory to an extra 3G fearing that was the issue. I even started a sandbox mode game and got a crash when opening the scenery and trying to choose a custom peice. The errors happen in all paks, so I don't think it's the MS3 issue of referencing or memory leak.
I'm stumped. Any ideas or suggestions to further my error-checking? I hate to bug you guys with tech support questions like this, but I'm scratching at straws here before a complete reinstall.

I have a sort of similar problem, where with some packs if I try place scenery or shops the game crashes. I have 3 categories of packs:
1: Ones that work always.
2: Ones where if you load a park you have to place a stall before trying to place scenery.
3: Ones that crash no matter what it is you try to place.
When I say place I mean if you click the selection thingy that opens up the menu it crashes.

Funny how reassuring it can be to hear others with the same problem :haha: . When you say place a stall, do you mean any old bathroom/burger stand?
My crashes so far have been either: "open pak menu = freeze after a few seconds" & "crash when loading a map that uses the pak".

It can depend on how much custom scenery you are using and how large the park gets.
I have better luck with elements of the main street set in smaller parks than in larger ones. You can always try substituting the things you suspect are the issue with things you know work.

Krunnky...
You're saying you get the error in EVERY one of my packs? If this is the case, then you're doing something wrong. I have an idea what could be the problem.
Let's start with Main Street Set 3. When you unzip the file, you'll get a folder called "shy-Main_Street_Set_3". Inside that folder is another one called "shy-Main Street Set 3". Note...The names are different. This is because when I host the files on my site, there can't be any spaces in the file name. You must take the second folder out and place it in the rct3/style/themed directory. The parent folder of most, if not all, of my sets is different than the working folders. If you're taking all the files out of the second folder and putting them in the parent folder, you'll get the no :svd for :sid" error.
Now, if you can open the scenery packs in the game, and place objects, and later, the park crashes, then the error could be caused by an object in my set.
Let me know if this helps.

Nope I can load it fine, just any stall. I don't think shyguy's packs would be the problem they run fine for me, cept the 3rd which is in category 2: Has too many polys, that's why shyguy won the scenery most likely to crash your comp reward.
Edit: Shyguy where is that reward, did someone steal it from your sig? lol

Fixed! I wiped out all packs and re-installed by placing the zip in my themed folder and choosing the "extract here" option in winRar. I can now place every peice of scenery without an issue. Thanks for all the help. You guys need to get jobs in this industry. Your work is beyond reproach.
